And I've seen bright, ambitious kids get hooked onto grass and turn into potheads who couldn't think clearly, and couldn't focus, and were only looking for their next joint, or their next drink, and when they were going to get laid next.
You know what? I don't want some pot head driving while he's high and I'm on the road. I don't want them doing critical work that requires precision and alertness. Libertarians seem by and large to operate under the delusion that much of what they do doesn't really affect others, and that is not the case. They live in society and what they do DOES affect others, and it is not up to the rest of us to just suck it up and live with the consequences of THEIR behavior.
If they lived in isolation somewhere in the mountains and never had contact with other humans, fine, smoke your brains out. Once another person is in the picture, there is obligation to that person. It's not up to everyone else in the world to acquiesce to the immature demands of self-gratification that libertarians by and large demand.
The typical libertarian mindset is self-gratification and to hell with everyone else. If they don't like it, THEY need to leave, but by God nobody better tell the same to the libertarian. Nobody has the *right* to tell him what to do like he thinks he can tell others.
People don't want to be seen as "mean" and "hateful" for being truthful. So they either compromise or say "Live and let live". Neither works.

I think what we have to be careful of is distinguishing when someone is honestly questioning those types of issues and/or ‘advocating’ in favor of those issues. I have questioned some of the very same issues years ago, but have not ‘advocated’ in favor of them. Like I stated..FR has helped me to clarify my own ambivilance on many issues over the years. I have learned alot from my fellow freepers. By saying that I thought it was clear how much respect I have for Jim,my fellow freepers and this forum.

Now it looks more like FR is coming around to where I've been all along.
Our country since its inception had laws against obscenity and pornography, public displays of sexual behavior, homosexual acts and so on. Also divorce was very difficult to grant and socially looked down upon.
One by one, these legal prohibitions have fallen by the wayside thanks to leftists, a leftist SCOTUS and assisted by the communist founded ACLU.

Well...I hope you all sort it out. We all have to be careful on a forum like this because it is easy to misunderstand one another and then take swipes at each other because we are on differnet wave lengths or misunderstand the poster’s intent. It’s easy to do when we don’t have the non-verbal clues you would get or not get when you are discussing things face to face.
