And do what buy from California and Massachusetts based firms?
Wouldn’t it be more sensible to boycott the other 49 who didn’t even try?
I didn’t know Karl Denninger liked poking his head up his ....
Because after reading this excerpt, I know he has no clue what he’s talking about. And I’m sure not wasting a click to read further.
What a perfect caricature of the circular firing squad that is the right. Bravo!
Message below sent to Sen. Patrick, Rep. Simpson and Lt Gov Dewhurst:
Dear Sen. Patrick,
I understand from press reports that Federal agents have threatened to impose a “No Fly Zone” over Texas, as has been done in the past and present to rogue states such as Iraq, Libya and Bosnia, and this threat is in response to the exercise of the duly constituted legislative powers of the Texas Legislature.
I am of the opinion that this federal threat is contrary to the U.S. Constitution, as per Article 1, section 9 quoted below.
Article. I. - The Legislative Branch
Section 9 - Limits on Congress
No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of
one State over those of another: nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged
to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another.
I am further of the opinion that the regulations or policies imposed by the Secretary of Homeland Security regarding unwarranted searches and seizures of persons boarding aircraft are contrary to the 4th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Accordingly I strongly support your efforts for passage of HB 1937 in defiance of federal threats of a No Fly Zone and air blockade. I further suggest that should the federal authorities make good on their threat, the Texas Railroad Commission should, in the name of safety and security, shut down all interstate pipelines carrying natural gas and refined petroleum products out of Texas.
You have my full support.
Best regards,
aka “ThirdMate”
OK, you are today’s example of FAIL.
Is this your first time ever in attempting to post at FR?
You linked the website. Not the article.
The article itself is (bleep). But why did you not post the correct url?
You do of course realize that Texas PRIVATE companies have little if anything to do with the day-to-day operations of the Legislature there, do you not?
And all the other states are standing up against the TSA how?
What? Did the Texas senate not vote and put a stop to the TSA hand raping?
This is one of the dumbest things I’ve read on FR in a long time.
As a Texan who works at a Texas-based firm, I am thankful that your circle of friends is so small that your “boycott” will have no effect. Nice try at logic on your part. Too bad you failed.
Denniger's bashing of Ryan is in the same league.
He's reasonably solid on economics, and he's sort of a libertarian, but, he's also sort of a liberal in wanting higher taxes and stuff. He's right on foreclosuregate, though, that plenty of bankster's need to be in jail. And right the US economy is f*cked.
You’ve obviously never been in the US Military ... where personal inspections are routine ... for a good reason.
They are the one state that actually attempted to stop this through legislation until they were buffaloed into pulling it by the strong arm of the federal government.
I wish they hadn't have pulled the bill, but why would you punish Texans for trying?
Explain yourself.
Only a dumbass would believe that bill was constitutional.
The general consensus seems to be that:
Although your principle is good, your execution is a fail.
You are not really addressing the source of the problems, by such a boycott.
Maybe it would do more good if you ASKED OTHERS what they thought would solve the problem.
Just a suggestion.
We at least tried. What has YOUR state done? Not even that much I bet.
