America’s largest city - NYC - has a far far lower murder rate than, say, DC or Philly....and their gun laws are effectively the same.

People living in 50 of the largest cities, in fact, accounted for 67% of all firearm homicides.

And most of them are in Chicago where guns are banned....

Perhaps further regulating hand guns is the way to go?/s

Perhaps, instead of banning firearms, we should consider banning big cities.

Well that’s odd. Don’t all these cities already have near total gun bans? Since I’m an NRA member who lives in a small town and has no criminal record, this is probably all my fault.

Is CDC actually suggesting that more gun control laws don’t help but enforcing existing laws will? Stopped clock?

Why can’t these people speak plainly? The problem is black and Mexican gang members. They do poorly in school, so they can’t compete in the normal job market. Selling drugs, shooting competitors and non-paying “customers” is well within their capability. Why do we keep wasting tax money paything the CDC for flowery verbage that never quite points the finger at the problem?

first there needs to be a Gag alert

second...if the politicians in the big cities were not afraid to give long prison terms for felons committing crimes with guns, there would be less scum on the streets to commit said crimes...

Worthless pap if they don't mention race. Blacks are responsible for at least half of the murders in the US despite being 12-13% of the population.

Not one of these einsteins apparently bothered to associate young male homicides with gang activity. Nah, more gun control, that's the ticket.

First, Cherry Picked Propaganda. Perhaps the study should be looking more at those committing violent acts rather than firearms as a solution. Firearms are only one tool and not necessarily the most common. Second, they need to look at what is wrong in our Human Services (Parental Unit Replacement) System to perpetuate generations of self justifying predators.
Finally, why must they admit: “One of the strongest correlates for homicide is concentrated disadvantaged.” (Is this is code speak for liberal entitlement offspring?) and then try to make a peripheral argument, more stringent gun control, the centerpiece of their solution?

Big cities in the U.S. are the most heavily armed venues in the U.S., by both the good and bad. Without it, crime would be many times worse.

Webster's strategy for reducing gun murders by teens is making guns harder to get.

And that right there is your Moron of the Day. I was reading this article with baited breath, waiting for the line that discussed gun control and how gun control is the most strict exactly in these cities where violence and murder are the worst. To any intelligent being, that right there shows NO CORRELATION WHATSOEVER between laws and violence. Good people will be peaceful with or without either laws or guns. Evil people will violate all laws and kill with guns.

Thankfully, the liberal idiots did not disappoint me with their thinking, sticking to the irrational, nonsensical, completely failed answer when the real answer is staring them in the face. Legalize drugs, or start to kill or permanently jail all gang members. There is your answer. I don't advocate killing them all and I don't want to pay to lock them all up, so leagalize ALL drugs and make it a healthcare issue. Poof, presto, violence gets cut in half overnight with the remaining half still being the same Orcs who prey on their fellow inner city residents.
