Glenn Beck: Sarah Palin damaged her brand
Politico ^ | April12, 2011 | Andy Barr

Glenn Beck doesn’t see Sarah Palin running for president and said she has done some damage to her political brand.

Beck, a constant Palin cheerleader, said flatly on his radio show Monday, “Sarah Palin, I don’t think, wants to run for president.”

The outgoing Fox News personality has hosted Palin on his show several times – once for a full hour – and she has frequently lavished praise on him.

Still, even with all that good will, Beck was frank in assessing what Palin has done to hurt her own political stock – even though he credited her with surviving tough media coverage.

“There are some things about Sarah Palin,” he said, going on to suggest Palin made a mistake by selling her personal story in her first book after leaving the governor’s office, rather than demonstrating some policy credentials.

“She should have come out with that first book, and it should have been deep policy,” he said. “It should have shown that, yes, she knows where Russia is.”

“She didn’t help herself by doing some things to shore herself up,” Beck added.

Still, Beck predicted that Palin “wants to shape the debate,” though he sees her role as outside elective politics.

“I personally think she is on a smart path for the future to be able to hold people together,” Beck said. “It’s ideals that I think she is going for.”

Beck today put down Donald Trump proving Beck has the intelligence of a retarded monkey.

Why? What's wrong with putting down Donald Trump? I think he's nothing more than a vanity candidate who has already even said he'd run 3rd party and split the opposition to Obama.

Trump basically acts like an East Coast establishment guy who decided he want's to try his hand at presidential politics and it catering to every cliche and niche issue he thinks the conservative base cares about. I am almost embarrassed at how easy he plays a lot of good, decent, traditional conservative people.

Trump is not a real conservative, nor will ever get the Republican nomination for President. He might however run a vanity 3rd party campaign and siphon off some of the opposition to Obama that otherwise would have gone Republicans. Trump DESERVES to be put down and Beck is right to do it.

The obligatory disclaimer:

"Just for the record, I happen to be one of those “Blood Sucking Takers who helped pioneer the Prudhoe Bay Oilfield for Atlantic Richfield and Sohio...Palin’s ignorant, punitive and Populist attack on that established effort, nearly put a halt to everything good we worked so hard to create."

Psycho-Freep has a personal grudge against Sarah Palin because she yanked his trough away.

I’m right there with ya, erod!

What I have deduced is: everything the Democrats say is PROJECTION. It is either what they are doing or what they think of their constituants.

I have no idea whether Palin is running or not but no one has ever questioned whether Romney’s running and he was pretty much catatonic for this entire last year.

Hmmm. Has he said the same about Obama? HIS first book was an autobiography, NOT a policy tome, even though he was a politician, with national aspirations.

At the time Sarah wrote her book, she'd been through a national campaign, had seen herself and her family attacked for things that were simply NOT true, so she was looking to set the record straight. I certainly don't fault her for that.

He didn’t just throw Sarah Palin under the bus. He threw Michele Bachmann under too

Aww, geeze, Michele too? What did he say about her?? Did this all happen today? Criminy, I may have to listen to him today (he comes on in the afternoon here), much as I prefer not.

“She should have come out with that first book, and it should have been deep policy,”

Except that she has no "deep" policies. She has tweets and FB essays and talking head critiques and "Gee Ain't America Great" speeches but no genuine policies, deep or otherwise.

Bullshit. Obama thinks there are 57 states and she's knocked out of the race because she could see Russia from her office? Beck is a loon, a pacifist loon at that! He has some unique insight in the vein of idenfying conspiracies, etc. But it stops there. He has no solutions save 'miracles' and nonviolence against patently egregious attacks on our very freedoms.

The real reason for all this is still the nagging gut-feel (yes, down in their very bones) that she could/would actually be elected! And, their very lives, their incomes, their prestige, their import, would all be lessened immensely.

God put the instinct for self-preservation in all his children. Free choice, succumbing to vanity and evil are sometimes unintended consequences of that instinct.

I believe you are right on target with your post.

I know Mark R Levin has no use for him. He hasn’t really gone into detail on why, but I think his opinion is based on those character flaws of Beck’s.

Read what Mark Levin has to say about Trump. He’s right, BTW.

I’d say Beck raises some very good points, were it not for the fact that Obama was elected by mass proclamation, despite the fact that WE DIDN’T KNOW MUCH IF ANYTHING ABOUT WHERE HE STOOD ON ANYTHING!

Given that fact, it’s a little hard to rough-up Sarah for being thin on policy statements in her book.

This idea that Sarah is short on policy is absurd. I don’t think that Beck even read her book. Rush couldn’t be so wrong in his review of it on youtube. If Sarah doesn’t run, there really is no one else who can be nominated whom I respect.

Did this all happen today?

I don't think so. I think yesterday he threw Palin and Michele under the bus and I guess today he said something about Palin again.

I respect Levin to the max, but I think that Beck has delivered valuable information, and is irreplaceable. I think that his opinion of Sarah is WAY off base, however. Of all the potential candidates, I firmly believe that she would make the finest President. She is clear-thinking, quick on her feet and tough-minded.

Thanks. What did he say about Bachmann yesterday? And what did he say about Trump today?

I cant remember what he said about Bachmann. I saw it yesterday on FR. And Trump I think it was something about his birtherism but that was yesterday too, I think. Not today about Trump.
