Is this tactically true, strategically true, personally held to be true, an approximation of the truth, conveniently true, temporarily true, or the truth? My respect for Petraeus is being questioned by his statements.
It might be tactical, it might be strategic, it might also be heartfelt, but his saying this in aid of his mission there would seem to me to distance himself from America as a whole, which would call into question his legitimacy of command to those in Afghanistan who think about these things, weakening his mission rather than defending it. Why should they listen to him now, if he’s saying that the country he represents, our traditions and laws, are not to be respected when in conflict with their traditions and laws?
“was hateful, it was intolerant and it was extremely disrespectful and again, we condemn it in the strongest manner possible,”
I’ve seen hateful and disrespectful Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo cartoons from WWII and I don’t recall any of our generals at the time condemning those. This is a war, Gen. Patraeus, fight for Americans and their Rights under the US Constitution. I recall my oath saying something about that when I enlisted.
Wasn’t it Petraus who ordered the Bible burning last year?????
Any culture that gets their panties in a wad for the falling of a leaf is too fragile to survive. The burning of the Quran is the falling of a leaf.
A politically correct general and nothing more.Thats why hes still there.
“U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry said in a statement that Americans respect the Quran “
Eikenberry doesn’t speak for this American. The only thing that might be useful for the queeran is to use it as toilet paper.
“was hateful, it was intolerant and it was extremely disrespectful...”
Yes it is, and I would burn 1000 of them for just those reasons...I hate islamists killing innocents in the name of the evil cult encompassed in that book, I am intolerant of savages killing innocent people using that book as an excuse because it says it is ok, and I am extremely disrespectful of any person that considers what is in that book relevant enough to take someones life over it, or any free person having to change their behavior in any way, shape or form to give credence to the murderous followers of that book!
If General Petraeus thinks that book commands more respect that the first amendment, he should retire on his laurels and study at a madrassa.
I have two questions about this.
1. Does anyone have a record of Petraeus having the vapors when an American Flag was burned?
2. Perhaps the problem is with the way war is now waged. The rules of engagement. Lacking the resolve to win. Attempting to wage "politically correct war. Avoiding "civilian casualties."
Perhaps that's why World War 2 lasted so long; we refused to stop insulting the enemy.
This guy is a West Point graduate? I hope not!
I burn every single one I find
TT
All muslims must be eradicated from north America.
Beheading Christians and stoning women to death for adultery, when they have been raped, isn’t exactly respectful.
Quran toilet tissue anyone?

Seems like the “religion of peace” will only be peaceful if you kiss their butts and cower to them.
“U.S. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry said in a statement that Americans respect the Quran “
Actually, no, I don’t. I regard it as garbage and its adherents as pagan savages who bow 5 times a day towards a rock. The whole thing was a colossal fraud perpetuated by Mohammed (piss be upon him) so he could rule others. And in any case, exactly what is gained in war by not provoking your enemies? It is our to our advantage to lure them out so they may be destroyed- if they are provoked, out they come.... Does it endanger our soldiers? Certainly- war is dangerous. But that is part of the deal, and in any case, the Muzzies were not exactly peaceful anyway.
They told me that if I voted for McCain, the White House would order Army generals to condemn blasphemy and try to suppress the 1st Amendment rights of fringe religious groups in the United States... and they were right!
Ouattara Forces Advance in Abidjan; Massacre Leaves 800 Dead (Muslim troops massacre Christians)
Next up: Petraeus condemns scantily-clothed women for being raped.
Petraeus is lily-livered. Don’t burn a Koran but its ok to kill Christians.
Yeah, don’t do anything to upset the Muzzies, treat them with them kid gloves.
what a dope he is.
Yet everyone seems to be getting their panties in a bundle because some preacher does it?
Seems like the solution's pretty obvious here. Each of us should go out, pick up a Koran for a quarter at the local thrift store, go take our cell phone cameras and film it being burned. Why should there be a lone wolf here? There should be thousands of these films out there, on Facebook, on Twitter, on You Tube and Google Videos. You should type ‘burning Koran’ and get millions of hits on any video site. Drown them in outrage.
