Kristol: Palin probably won't, shouldn't be nominee
Politico ^ | March 230, 2011 | Ben Smith

Posted on 03/23/2011 9:47:13 AM PDT by EveningStar

Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol was among Sarah Palin's earliest Washington admirers, and helped bring her to the national stage, but he said this week that while he still admires her, he questions her choices and doesn't think she should be the Republican nominee for president.

Do you understand that you personally are not representative of the electorate as a whole? Neither am I, for that matter. If we were, I strongly suspect Obama would not be President today. It does us no good to delude ourselves into believing that our preferred candidate is more popular than he/she is.

Please understand that on the contrary, "we" (as in, Americans overall) have allowed themselves to be deluded that Obama is more popular than he actually is and that most regular Americans aren't contemptuous of Liberalism. If you doubt this, check out the reader comments on Yahoo News, ABC, LA Times -- hardly conservative sites -- when a story pops up on Obama playing golf or some such thing.

Obama would not be president today, and Barney Frank, Al Franken, and who knows how many other liberals, would not be in office today if liberals didn't cheat. They have to cheat to win -- Motor voter registration, fighting tooth-and-nail any photo ID requirements at the polls, bribing homeless with smokes and bussing them to the polls, counting chads, engaging intimidating union thugs, finding mysteriously lost ballot boxes in the trunks of cars, disenfranchising the military vote on stupid technicalities, multiple votes, dead votes, make-believe votes -- liberals have to cheat to win because we are the majority.

If legitimate voters in honest elections did the voting, Obama would not be president today. The most insidiously evil thing the MSM has done is to turn good Americans against each other in this way by painting the picture that the "other guy" is the bad guy. So we are all of us looking around at each other, we fellow Americans, thinking that "most" of them are the "other guys" who stupidly voted for Obama, because it sure as hell wasn't us.

And those "other guys" are thinking the same thing, that it was US who voted for Obama and all the other liberals. The truth is that FRAUD got these liberals elected, by the skin of their teeth, and they govern illegitimately, but because popular entertainment and the MSM have painted a portrait that has everyone believing that there are a lot more liberals than there actually are, everyone is conditioned to cynically and angrily think that "everybody but us" in America is stupid. It's an extremely dangerous and slippery dynamic, made that much worse by the natural human tendency of the ego who is grimly gratified to think he/she is just so much smarter than MOST other people. As I say, it's a really nasty combination.

I say, WAKE UP TO IT.

The pissant is gone? I didn’t even notice.

Here's the thread where pissant rides the lighting.

Evening Star's faux pas or let slip the truth?

Thanks for the find. What these idiot PDSers don't answer is, If Sarah is so easy to beat, then WHY all the insane smears from the left??? The left knows clearly that she will utterly crush the Marxist (>370EV)

Like it or not, quitting the Governorship was Sarah Palin’s Chappaquiddick.

Notice how we never see threads this long about Huck or Mitt. The reason being no one cares enough to argue for them. Palin is the real deal. She will win the primary and the election going away.. Will she have coat tails? Will the “Tea Party” reappear to help us get rid of a lot of these RINOs so that when she does win things can get fixed?

We can win the Whitehouse in 12’, but if we keep electing these turds to the senate nothing will change...

Agreed. Yes, she would have dogged by criticism, law suits, etc. but if she had let her term run out she’d be in much better shape now.

Really? Who did she drive over a cliff and leave to die by hiding behind her name? A bit dramatic, aren’t you?

Sarah is the “real deal” and one of the reasons is her understanding of energy issues. No one else has her expertise when it comes to energy. I believe with the price of oil and electric skyrocketing, energy will be a central issue in 2012. Sarah understands that America relying on it’s own resources for cheaper, abundant energy, is the only way to climb out of the economic abyss we’re in.

RE :”Like it or not, quitting the Governorship was Sarah Palin’s Chappaquiddick.

Naw, Obama would never think of using that against her, LOL

Teddy finally ran against Carter in 1980 but got creamed.

The problem with your tale is that palin gives conflicting reasons why she quit, in fact she gave multiple reasons in her quitting speech.

My favorite is the one she also gave to BOR...

Since I decided not to run again I'd be a lame-duck and lame ducks just waste the taxpayers' money...so I quit.

Anyone who thinks that the MSM and her opponents aren't waiting with that is more than just a bit naive. Here's a question she would face...

Mrs. Palin, you said that having only a year and a half left to serve made you a lame-duck and so you quit for the good of the people in Alaska...can we expect you to be consistent and quit with a year and a half left as POTUS?

We know that it's easier to make your case by ignoring this but the facts are the facts and people see this as weakness and self-serving.

I understand what you are saying. The MSM still has a closet full of unresolved issues from the Legal actions against Palin that she ineffectively resolved by quitting half way through her term.

Those issues are still waiting to be made into major controversy and will be done so in a 24/7 basis. There is also Troopergate which will get far more air time than it did when Palin was a VP Candidate with McCain.

With her added and increased public celebrity, the impact of these issues will be aired for months and she will be forced to fight them one by one as they come out.

This will prove to be more than a simple detractor. They will devastate her candidacy in the interim. I think she knows this deep down and why she has been so hesitant to declare.

What ever the case, it will be revealed soon, one way or the other.

Like it or not, quitting the Governorship was Sarah Palin’s Chappaquiddick.

Aside from this being a rude comment (comparing a drowning death with leaving an elected office), it makes no sense from a political standpoint. Fat Teddy suffered nary a whit from this tragedy. He was re-elected to the Senate six times, and ran for President in 1980, eleven years after the Chappaquiddick incident. The only real loser was 29 year-old Mary Jo Kopechne.

People get elected to higher office all the time and follow the will of the people by taking that office.

What higher office did palin take when she quit, tweaker-in-chief?

Funny that you back palin, given her ‘pathway to citizenship’ for illegals and your freep name.

/Palin is not the only name I've crossed off my list. Others include Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, Santorum, Paul, and I forget who else. Right now, I'm not thrilled with anyone.

And that is EXACTLY how we got Juan back in `08.

MSM targeted each one of the "pretty good" republicans and promoted the rants by followers of each attack till the candidate was out.

As soon as the rhetoric was established in the MSM against the good candidates, George Stephanopoulos showed up chanting over and over how "great" juan is doing. Plenty of face time on the MSM and lots of publicity.

Presto, little juan is the nominee.

Presto, little bammy is the President.

This will be attempted again so folks had best look over the field and pick the best overall candidate from who is there now. The Calvary is NOT going to come charging over the hill at the last minute. Most of the names in your short list are worse than juan. RINO’s and PRIC’s mostly. The ones that you say “I forget who else” are no go for that very reason. No name retention. You can’t even recall who they are. So do not expect anything there.

The communists are hammering on Sarah day and night for a reason. It is believed by the communists that she will not give a tinker’s damn about their attacks, race cards, lies, incoherent smears, etc. In their eyes she is Doom and Apocalypse.

That is a good thing as it brings out the true nature of the communist liberal “progressive” democrat. You know, foul language, obvious lies, ridiculous childish accusations, racist accusations, physical attacks, etc.

Just the ticket for a clear headed decision by a normal American voter come November, 2012.

.

Do you seriously think she can win?

Well, let me put it this way: if she cannot win, then America is over anyway, and elections are of no importance.

So, what difference does it make?
