Sarah Palin is the first Republican leader to speak at the event in New Delhi. Sarah was invited to speak on her Vision for America.
Todays tea party is a strong and vibrant movement in the US. The former VP candidate is emphasizing energy challenges. We all face energy challenges in the international arena. ENERGY is the key. My vision for a free and prosperous America involves an emphasis on energy.
On green energy I am in favor of an all of the above approach to energy. Unfortunately, though some have stymied responsible drilling. It means we continue to transfer hundreds of millions of American dollars to foreign regimes. Everything is touched.
As government locks up land they try to tell us that green jobs are our future. A recent British study found that for every green job, 4 jobs were lost. This is social engineering.
Americans can tap into our own natural resources. And natural gas- green and efficient. Natural gas is an ideal bridge fuel to the future. Its a false fairy tale for government to interfere and for Americans to believe that we dont need oil and gas.
Big government ideas are once again being thrown into the ash heap of history but theyre not going quietly.
The future lies with us. There are few limits to what India and America can do together. We both want to expand trade and investment with allies.
It is our people who are driving this relationship.
Our ties and our bonds are deep. Theyre not driven by a free people and a free markets not by conclaves.
We will lead because we are on the side of people to make decisions for themselves. We are on the side of religious tolerance and womens rights. I admire Indias history of strong women leaders.
I supported South Carolinas first Indian governor Nikki Haley. I support the tea party a vibrant and growing movement.
On social media- We should look at this as an opportunity to advance freedom.
This hunger for freedom is not just American. We have such a connection. Half a world apart but connected by this. We can lead by example.
On trade with India Sarah Palin: We are thankful for the free trade agreements throughout the world.
On foreign policy- Sarah Palin: There would have been more decisiveness. We have a rich tradition on being on the side of those who seek freedom. Less dithering and more decisiveness.
On China- Sarah Palin: China has a choice. We need to be sure and India needs to be sure that we are clear with their expectations We say they manipulate their currency. They accuse us of the same. Whats with the military buildup? We have concerns Again we look forward to see them making the right choice.
On the tea party movement- Sarah Palin: The tea party patriots just want the Constitution to be followed. Its smaller smarter government. Its too good to have a leader.
On campaigning for VP- Sarah Palin: You cant really trust the media. You have to have the boldness and courage of setting the record straight. Especially when they have made their choice Im not just going to sit back and take it. Ive learned you cant just trust the media to set the record straight. Republicans have the fighting instinct of sheep sometimes. I dont play the victim card when they do choose to set the election straight.
On losing election- Sarah Palin: Obama was a change agent. Question: But so were you. Sarah Palin: But I wasnt on the top of the ticket.
Sarah Palin: Its time a woman became president of the United States of America. (Applause)
Sarah Palin: I am a strong supporter of peace through strength If we want a more peaceful world India and America must work more closely together.
Her role in Republican Party- Sarah Palin: Im pretty independent and some people dont like that Im a mom and I just dont have the time to play some of the games the guys want to play.
On reviving American economy- Sarah Palin: Its common sense free market principles. Cutting spending.
Last question Will you husband be called the first man? Sarah Palin: First dude.
Closing statement: When I was waiting for your speech I was talking to an official and he said he was looking forward to her speech. I asked him why and he said, Because Sarah Palin is a a friend of India.
No politician ever answers the question directly. They normally use the question as an intro to say what is really on his or her mind. They never let a trope like a Yes/No closed-end question stop them.
Interesting! Who of the other republicans that appear to be going to run are some of the more qualified? And how and why?
Anybody who had a clue who this man was in 2008.
That would include just about every single Free Republic poster in 2008.
The final Republican nominee has probably yet to throw his hat in the ring.
There's a difference between a Free Republic Poster and a possible candidate for President of the United States, wouldn't you say?
You don't have to worry about it now, you get one vote just like everyone else, unless you have a lot of dead relatives.
If you don't think the Republican Leadership is left of center, then I hope you don't vote.
Yeah, mostly by democrats who have no grasp of the issue. It's called evading the question. Definitely a turn off for the average voter. Somehow Obama got away with it this time. I think he got away with it because after 15 minutes of talking and using college words in his "response" people had already forgotten what the question was and assumed he had answered it at some point.
Not even the ones cheating on their wives publicly.
I totally agree with all the personal attacks the media and the Left used. They did the same thing to Dan Quayle and we did the same thing to Jimmy Carter's brother, Billy.
But what about when any FReepers dare to post a single discouraging word about Sarah Palin?
As others on the thread have posted, it has become almost impossible to rationally discuss Sarah Palin's qualifications on Free Republic because anybody that posts anything that does not feed into the endless chanting of adoration is labeled as a RINO and is accused of having Palin Derangement Syndrome.
Discussing the use of the Gender Card is a legitimate conservative issue. Yet, the P.D.S. Card was automatically thrown out.
That does not work for the Far Left when everybody that disagrees with them is labeled a "Fascist" and it will definitely not work with the 72% of ALL American voters that currently believe that Sarah Palin would NOT be a good President.
FOX News Poll (February 7-9, 2011)
Question 3: I am going to read you a list of names. Tell me if you think that person would make a good President or not.
Sarah Palin:
.................YES.........NO.......DK.....Never heard of
ALL...........23%.......72%.........4%.......1%
Dem ...........7%........87%........5%.......1%
Rep ...........40%.......56%.......3%.......1%
Ind ...........25%........69%.......3%.......1%
The following is not "baseless". It was reported by the very people who were trying to get Sarah Palin elected Vice President of the United States:
"Oh, that! Well that came from John McCain's people and John McCain is a RINO so that is baseless and that is the end of that!"
Lets look at a current foreign policy matter, Libya. On Feb. 22nd the rebels were gaining and Ghaddafy was threatening to use his air force against them. On Feb 22nd, Gov. Palin reacted to the rebellion in Libya by saying that Ghaddafy needed to be replaced and that the people of Libya needed protection from his thuggery and aerial assault by imposition of a no-fly zone by NATO. ...excopconservative
Repalced by whom?
Does she know?
In 2008, Sarah Palin did not even know what the al Sadr militia was:
On Drudge, her comments about the No-Fly Zone are being hyped as "The Palin Doctrine".
A No-Fly Zone is not a "Doctrine". It is merely a single tool in the military arsenal which was used by George H. W. Bush, by George W. Bush prior to 9/11 and even embraced by Bill Clinton as a fig leaf that he was actually doing something about Saddam Hussein during his entire 8 years in office.
To describe the mere mention of the No-Fly Zone tool as a "Doctrine" is analogous to labeling a surgical operation "The Smith Procedure" because Dr. Smith suggested starting the operation by cutting the patient's skin with a scalpel.
The term "Doctrine" means "A principle or body of principles". The term "Procedure" means "A series of steps taken to accomplish an end".
The use of those terms implies a coherent series of principles and steps that say, "In situations such as X, we will use the tools at our disposal to accomplish Y goal because of Z reasons"
Neither one of those terms just simply means "Let's use Tool X."
"Okay, (Doctor/Governor), after using the (scalpel to cut the skin/No-Fly Zone in Libya), then what? Why are we entering (the patient's abdomen/Libya) in the first place? Why are we doing it at all? What, exactly, are we hoping to accomplish and why? What are the stakes involved if we succeed or fail or stay out of (the patient's abdomen/Libya) altogether? What, exactly, are the issues and potential problems involved? What are we doing beyond that first step? "
In regards to the idea of a No-Fly Zone in Lybia which Palin mentioned on Hannity on 23 February, if such a thing is going to be inaccurately called a "Doctrine", it should be called the "Ibrahim Dabbashi Doctrine".
Ibrahim Dabbashi was the Libyan deputy Permanent Representative to UN and he called for the implementation of the No-Fly Zone on 21 February, two days before Palin repeated his suggestion:
What this means is that Sarah Palin, or at least one of her staffers, was actually bothering to read the daily news in regards to foreign affairs before that Hannity interview. This, at least, is a great improvement in comparison to 2008:
Unfortunately, that did not appear to be the case before her Christian Broadcasting Network interview.
When asked by David Brody, "What would YOU have DONE DIFFERENTLY in the Egyptian Crisis?", here is Sarah Palin's evasive, rambling answer that TOTALLY dodged the question, "What YOU would have DONE DIFFERENTLY in the Egyptian Crisis?":
Its a difficult situation, this is that 3 AM White House phone call and it seems for many of us trying to get that information from our leader in the White House it it seems that that call went right to um the answering machine. And nobody yet has, no body yet has explained to the American public what they know, and surely they know more than the rest of us know who it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak and Im not real enthused about what it is that thats being done on a national level and from DC in regards to understanding all the situation there in Egypt. And in these areas that are so volatile right now because obviously its not just Egypt but the other countries too where we are seeing uprisings, we know that now more than ever, we need strength and sound mind there in the White House. We need to know what it is that America stands for so we know who it is that America will stand with. And we do not have all that information yet."
If you can find a "Palin Doctrine" in there somewhere and can explain what Sarah Palin would have "done differently" in regards to Egypt, feel free to point it out.
All I see is an unprepared politician totally blind-sided by a simple, softball question tossed by a friendly interviewer. All I see is that politician furiously tap-dancing to avoid actually answering the question of what she would have "done differently". All I see is a politician killing time until the interviewer says, "Thank you. Next question ...."
That is not a politician articulating a "Doctrine". That is just Obama without a TelePrompter. That is just an "Empty Suit".
You want an example of somebody who was NOT an "Empty Suit"?
Here he is:
She said at one time, it does no good to go to Washington and keep all the cronies that are there, which would change nothing. That is paraphrasing, but it was to that affect.
Who are you working overtime for, really? Fess up. Mitt or Huck?
You mean like when the queer brought his family o stage to be humiliated as he apologized for promoting his gay lover to homeland security? Ones like that? There are others but you get the idea......
The medias roll is to elect the most Marxist candidate.
The sources were the John McCain campaign staff that was trying to get her elected Vice President and sources within her own staff.
(McCain!!! RINO!!!! P.S.D.!!! That's the end of the debate!!! I win!!! I win!!!)
If the claim is false, she could have denied it.
If the claim is false, she could have started doing interviews outside of the safe softballs interviews with Hannity and Barbara Walters and impressed everybody with her fund of knowledge.
Yet, she hasn't.
You want to entrust the safety of the United States to somebody that allegedly had no clue what the Yalta Conference was or what the al Sadr militia was even though her own son was headed their way in 2008.
You BELIEVE in Sarah Palin!!
You have FAITH in Sarah Palin!!
You have HOPE in Sarah Palin!!
You have all that no matter how many potential Red Flags have been hoisted.
I'm sorry but such unquestioning and blind faith is nothing more than trusting the irrationality of a Cult of Personality.
America has already been there and done that:
I am Old School and follow the dictum of Ronald Reagan:
"Trust but verify."
The only thing that Sarah Palin has verified to me is that she absolutely refuses to risk anything but safe, softball interviews. It is impossible to verify if she can coherently discuss 20th Century American History because she absolutely refuses to risk doing so.
You might want to risk the future safety of America to such a person.
I refuse to take such a reckless gamble based on HOPE.
Sarah is right! As Rush said, the women on our side are the only ones with balls (paraphrasing).
The PDSers on this thread whine with petty comments while Sarah is becoming a bigger international sensation. Get a life.
Sarah was a smash in India! She is on to Israel to meet with Bibi where they will love her too.
Palin 2012
Her host was grateful for her, as he noted, “answering all his questions”.
Again, it’s crap that only a female candidate would have to put up with, asking if a woman can and should be president. To make an issue of near-candidate Palin answering yes, it’s time for a female president is absurd.
Very good.
I don't know what your list of qualifications are.
But Christie, Daniels, Romney, Huckabee, Barbour are five former governors that don't meet my qualifications.
