If the claim is false, she could have started doing interviews outside of the safe softballs interviews with Hannity and Barbara Walters and impressed everybody with her fund of knowledge.
Yet, she hasn't.
You want to entrust the safety of the United States to somebody that allegedly had no clue what the Yalta Conference was or what the al Sadr militia was even though her own son was headed their way in 2008.

I'm sorry but such unquestioning and blind faith is nothing more than trusting the irrationality of a Cult of Personality.

The only thing that Sarah Palin has verified to me is that she absolutely refuses to risk anything but safe, softball interviews. It is impossible to verify if she can coherently discuss 20th Century American History because she absolutely refuses to risk doing so.
You might want to risk the future safety of America to such a person.
I refuse to take such a reckless gamble based on HOPE.
