No politician ever answers the question directly. They normally use the question as an intro to say what is really on his or her mind. They never let a trope like a Yes/No closed-end question stop them.

Yeah, mostly by democrats who have no grasp of the issue. It's called evading the question. Definitely a turn off for the average voter. Somehow Obama got away with it this time. I think he got away with it because after 15 minutes of talking and using college words in his "response" people had already forgotten what the question was and assumed he had answered it at some point.

Again, it’s crap that only a female candidate would have to put up with, asking if a woman can and should be president. To make an issue of near-candidate Palin answering yes, it’s time for a female president is absurd.
