A St. Louis high school student is getting an "A" from authorities after discovering a teacher's X-rated past.
Tera Myers, 38, was put on administrative leave at Parkway North High School this week after a student inquired about pornographic films Myers starred in during the 1990s.
The science teacher decided to leave the school "out of respect for her privacy and that of her family," Paul Tandy, spokesman for the school district told the Daily News. "She was concerned about the impact it would have in the building."
Officials didn't know about Myers' past, which included a suspension five years ago from a Paducah, Ky., school for her role in the adult films.
While in Kentucky, Myers taught under a different name, Tericka Dye.
In 2006, the former porn star spoke to several media outlets and even made an appearance on "Dr. Phil," arguing she deserved to get her job back and that she had made the biggest mistake of her life.
"Anybody who has been in my classroom could tell you how much I love teaching and how much I love these students, and that should be what matters more than anything in my past," she said in May 2006.
Myers, whose stage name is Rikki Andersin, said she made the movies when she was living in California, working as an exotic dancer to earn desperately needed cash.
Because Myers' role in the adult films wasn't illegal, her pornographic past didn't show up during a background check.
The teacher, who has been at the school for four years, will be paid through the end of the school year but will not be returning in the fall.
"We're surprised, very surprised," said Tandy. "At the same time we feel for her and her family. We do believe she has tried to move on with her life... Unfortunately, even though it happened 15 years ago, [the video] is still there."

Ideally, I'd agree, but I'd rather have a whole slew of porn stars teaching my kids than similar number of Democrat-voting NEA types.

I worked in a classroom one day where the regular teacher posted information about a local gay teen center. Sick.
It shouldn't be ok for either.
But Ayers and his wife don't teach in public schools to children. Ayers taught at the University of Illinois, and his wife at Northwestern to college kids where at least students have a choice of what school and what classes they attend.
BTW, why is every woman that is in porn called a “porn star”?
They can’t all be “stars”.
Having know many teachers I can tell you many of them are porn stars In private, this woman should be left along and the little worm digging in her past expelled. However, that will never happen by those that have been taught to forgive.
I feel sorry for this woman. She tried to do the right thing and turn her life around. Very sad.
Well, at least she keeps her “activities” to actors in her films and not the students.

If we were all held accountable for things we did in our youth, almost none of us would have jobs.
Has she ever publically denounced her careeer? Is she hiding her name because of the shame of her past (LEGITIMATE shame!!)
Can anyone blame her for hiding it now that she gave it up?
Is she bragging about her past in any way? Did she reveal it at a Church where she gave her testimony of her changed life??

She changed her name and went to teach somewhere else. The new school didn't know about her past.
I agree, this was in her paaast. So she is not allowed to teach—even after a successful event-free track record since leaving her first “career”?? Seems unreasonable to me.
One question: What happened to the teen who “discovered” her past. I thot viewers had to be at least 18 to enter x-rated site and provide credit card? If I was his parent, I think I would be less than proud of his “research.” one.
Student who outed her will get beaten up - just a guess.

We have quite an inventory of female teachers that ‘love’ their students...I’m not sure that we need another one.
