Breaking: Wisconsin Dems throw their weight behind drive to recall GOP Senators
Washington Post ^ | 3/2/2011 | Greg Sargent

Posted on 03/02/2011 3:55:29 PM PST by Qbert

The Wisconsin Democratic Party has decided to throw its weight behind a nascent grassroots drive to recall a number of GOP state senators, a move that will considerably increase the pressure on them to break with Governor Scott Walker, the Dem party chair confirms to me.

"The proposals and the policies that Republicans are pushing right now are not what they campaigned on, and they're extreme," the party chair, Mike Tate, said in an interview. "Something needs to be done about it now. We're happy to stand with citizens who are filling papers to recall these senators."

Previously, Wisconsin Dems had not publicly supported talk about recalling GOP Senators, in hopes of privately reaching a negotiated solution to the crisis. The Wisconsin Democratic Party's decision to support the recall drives represents a significant ratcheting up of hostilities and in essence signals that all bets are off.

Eight Republican Senators are eligible to be recalled right now, and various groups around Wisconsin are beginning to file papers to make it happen. Tate told me that the party would throw its organization behind such efforts

"We're an aggressive, on-the-ground group and we're going to be looking to aid these citizens in any way we can," he said.

Tate said he couldn't say whether such a recall drive would result in GOP Senators breaking with Walker, given their solidarity so far, but he vowed that a number of them would pay the price by losing their own jobs.

I think someone has to have been in office a year before they can be recalled.

OK, it takes 60 days to get the signatures for a recall.

But, doesn’t it take only 30 days for the Governor to declare the seats vacant?

And would there then be a quorum, since the seats are empty at that time?

Would Walker call those seats vacant if these Fleebagers were gone that long?

Wrong. Yesterday I listened to Wisconsin Republicans who are collecting signatures to recall three Democrats. They were half-way there.

But Union thugs can vote many times no matter where they are from. It is called fraud. And they are really good at it.

And didn’t we single-handedly bring Yasser Arafat back from Tunisia to Gaza from the Palestian ‘government’ in exile?

There are recalls of the Dem senators underway.
Today, petitions were filed to recall four Republican state senators in Wisconsin (recall petitions have already been filed against four Democratic state senators). That means that Democrats, union members, and friends have 60 days from today to get enough signatures (at least 25 percent of the district's voters in the past gubernatorial election) necessary to hold a recall election. If they get enough signatures, a recall election could be held sometime in July.

—Interesting questions. (Wish I knew the answers).

I just hope the Republican leaders -- including and especially those in Washington -- understand what they are facing even while trying to "get along" and "show respect" to the "other side of the aisle".

The only thing the Democrat-Socialist Party understands and respects is the uncompromising us of power ... which the Democrat-Socialists do not hesitate to use -- even while in the minority -- while Republicans wring their hands searching for a "solution" or a compromise.

nascent grassroots drive

It is anything but nascent. The CPUSA through its willing army of SEIU, AFSCME, et. al. are firmly in charge of this. Tacit approval most likely from 1600 Pa. Av. too.

If nothing changes, then sometime soon thousands of layoff notices are going to go out to Wisconsin state employees. Their jobs will depend on a budget being passed. My bet is, the fleebaggers return to do their duty, and their maggot supporters will hail them as heroes.

You know what some of the GOP senators in WI should do; agree with the ‘rats that they will vote against Gov. Walkers plan, get the 14 cowards back there, and then vote for it, all the ‘rats could do is cry shame again and sit there looking like dopes.

Not sure if there any legal hurdles to pulling such a trick, but I would love to see it happen :P

** Which leads to this - how and by whom are signatures verified? We know there will be massive cheating in gathering signatures for Republ recalls. **

=================================

Now there's the fly in the ointment. The only Statewide Democrat to hold onto his job in the last election was the Secretary of State. If he's been turned by Soros, our goose is cooked.

It is over.

When they cannot respect the voters...and play games like this...

the time of being or recovering a lawful land through the ballot box.

This will leave only the other kind of box.

The democrats and the unions have colluded to overthrow the state government. They need to be arrested for sedition.

At this point in the article I checked the author to see if it was a John Semmens piece ... alas, no it isn't

Unions won't care much about some layoffs - especially considering what is at stake. That is one of the major problems with public sector unions. They basically are able to hold a gun to the head of localities, cities and states. Elected representatives often suggest reducing pay and benefits in order to save jobs and keep proper staffing, and unions virtually always reject that opting instead for layoffs.

In the current situation, unions would rather see even 20k layoffs than what Walker and the Republicans are proposing. At stake are the union dues the government steals from workers whether they want to be in the union or support its agenda or not.

This fight goes right to the financial underpinnings of the Democratic party and you can be absolutely sure they'd love it if this ended with layoffs rather than Walker's plan.
