Breaking: Wisconsin Dems throw their weight behind drive to recall GOP Senators
Washington Post ^ | 3/2/2011 | Greg Sargent

Posted on 03/02/2011 3:55:29 PM PST by Qbert

The Wisconsin Democratic Party has decided to throw its weight behind a nascent grassroots drive to recall a number of GOP state senators, a move that will considerably increase the pressure on them to break with Governor Scott Walker, the Dem party chair confirms to me.

"The proposals and the policies that Republicans are pushing right now are not what they campaigned on, and they're extreme," the party chair, Mike Tate, said in an interview. "Something needs to be done about it now. We're happy to stand with citizens who are filling papers to recall these senators."

Previously, Wisconsin Dems had not publicly supported talk about recalling GOP Senators, in hopes of privately reaching a negotiated solution to the crisis. The Wisconsin Democratic Party's decision to support the recall drives represents a significant ratcheting up of hostilities and in essence signals that all bets are off.

Eight Republican Senators are eligible to be recalled right now, and various groups around Wisconsin are beginning to file papers to make it happen. Tate told me that the party would throw its organization behind such efforts

"We're an aggressive, on-the-ground group and we're going to be looking to aid these citizens in any way we can," he said.

Tate said he couldn't say whether such a recall drive would result in GOP Senators breaking with Walker, given their solidarity so far, but he vowed that a number of them would pay the price by losing their own jobs.

“I think many conservatives underestimate how difficult this will be. Weeks ago people seemed so sure the public would support Walker, yet the polls are mixed at best. He is going to need all the help we can give him - and the recall attempts of our Wisconsin Senate Republicans will require we will pitch in what money we can to help. This fight is bigger than most realize.”

Those are some seriously flawed polls (I can give you links analyzing them if you haven’t seen them), but yeah we need to support them big time.

Republicans simply have to say that the Democrats are forcing all the teachers in the state to pay union dues to fund the recall of Republicans.

The Republicans need to make clear that the only alternative to Walker’s plan are massive layoffs or tax increases. There is NO MONEY.

Overthrowing a state government while in exile? Well, it worked for Lenin and the Ayatollah Khomeini.

And Obama almost got away with it in Honduras, too.

People support walker. The republicans aren’t spending money while the rats are blowing it all. This meAns they will have nothing in 2012.

The republicans should change the election laws in the state now. Photo Id, 30 day registration, proof of citizenship, and proof of eligibility for the office to be on the ballot.

“True, but Republicans picked everything that wasn’t nailed to the floor last year.”

I read something somewhere- I’ll try to find it- that said that one Dem barely won, and was a good recall possibility. Also, there is some requirement under the law I believe that they had to have been elected in 2008, and not in the recent election.

One more time, when you use botox you deaden the nerves in the middle of your forehead. That's where we detect whether or not someone else in our vicinity is ANGRY.

If you can't tell that people around you are angry you could really get in trouble fast. Check: >http://www.sciencenews.org/view/generic/id/60844/title/Botox_injections_put_a_crease_in_emotional_evaluations

David A. Havas, the lead research on the project that discovered this very dangerous botox side effect works at the Department of Psychology, University of Wisconsin–Madison.

There is absolutely no excuse for Democrats in Madison Wisconsin to walk around blissfully unaware that botox has disabled their ability to perceive emotional states in other people.

This is also a great opportunity for David to work with a LOCAL GROUP to see if this grave social disorder is curable!

Beware ... Wisconsinites will be "rising from their graves" to support the liberal recall efforts.

Actually, an effort to recall the Democrats has already started. From Greta van Susteren show:

http://nation.foxnews.com/politics/2011/03/01/are-awol-democrats-facing-total-recall-wisconsin

March 01, 2011
Are AWOL Democrats Facing a Total Recall in Wisconsin?

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: Well, those 14 defiant Wisconsin senate Democrats better not assume their jobs are safe. At this hour, some risk getting booted. Some Wisconsin citizens are upset that the 14 Democrats ran away to another state rather than stay home and vote on the budget. Some groups are now chanting recall, and our next guest is headlining one of the groups. Dan Hunt is chairman of Taxpayers to Recall Robert Wirch, one of the 14 missing senate Democrats. Good evening, sir.

DAN HUNT, TAXPAYERS TO RECALL ROBERT WIRCH: Hi, Greta. How are you doing?

VAN SUSTEREN: I’m very well. So how far have you gotten on this recall petition? And why do you want to recall this Democratic senator?

HUNT: Well, to start with the last question first, we actually want to recall Senator Wirch because he left his job. And it is solely that issue. He is no longer on the job representing us as his constituents. And as a result, we feel that because of the drastic action he took to leave the state to avoid a vote that we need to take drastic action, as well, and have him recalled.

As far as how far we’ve come, we started the action to recall him last Thursday. And in Wisconsin law, according to Wisconsin law, we have 60 days in order to gather the signatures that are required for the recall effort. And so we have started that effort, and actually, we have several signatures so far.

How about a grass roots movement to recall the missing dems?

Recall efforts are underway for some of the Fleebaggers, and petitions are being gathered. The GOP doesn’t have free union money to help fund it, so it really is a grassroots GOP effort.

So, hootchy-kootchy lady, you imagine the Republicans didn't already start recall attempts ~ fact is there are THREE different recall petitions being built by the Republicans to take out the weakest of the 14.

The process allots 60 days to gather names on a petition. There are other time limits ~ both minimums and maximums ~ so it could take a number of MONTHS to get a recall on the ballot.

Now if you want to get those bad boys out of there fast all we need is for the pregnant Lady Democrat Senator who complained that she didn't like living on the lam to complain that she was KIDNAPPED (or detained against her will) ~ which I've thought she was all along.

“Two can play this game...”

Recall of WI Democrats:

“Utah group mounts recall campaign against Wisconsin senators

By Mary Wisniewski
CHICAGO | Fri Feb 25, 2011 8:20am EST
(Reuters) - A Utah group trying to recall the Arizona sheriff who complained of “bigotry” in the wake of the Tucson shootings has also launched recall efforts against seven Wisconsin Democratic senators.

The senators are among 14 who left the state to avoid a vote on a Republican-sponsored bill to limit collective bargaining rights for state workers.

The American Recall Coalition of Salt Lake City has registered electronically to set up recall committees against Democratic senators Bob Wirch, Mark Miller, Lena Taylor, Fred Risser, Julie Lassa and Dave Hansen. The Coalition also wants to recall Spencer Coggs, but needs to register using a local representative.

Reid Magney, a spokesman for Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board, said his office is still waiting to receive paper registrations from the Coalition.

“It took me about five minutes to find people in Wisconsin to support this,” said Coalition executive director Daniel Baltes, in an interview. He said he had found a local representative for Coggs’ Milwaukee district, but still needed to re-file the registration for the Coggs recall committee....”

Union thuge can’t pass recall petitions unless they are registered voters in the district.

What's to stop them? There is no rule of law here anymore.

Which leads to this - how and by whom are signatures verified? We know there will be massive cheating in gathering signatures for Republ recalls.

And then there is this to consider - With the release of his budget details, Scott Walker is going to fracture some of the union support. Parents in Milwaukee have been waiting for school choice expansion for a long time, and opening it up the way he did will give a lot of people pause as radio station WIFM (What's In it For Me?) starts playing in their heads.

It could work, but you have to pick your battles. I'm sure there are districts where a Dem couldn't lose in any circucmstance.

We had one here in Indiana where Democrat Julia Carson who was basically illiterate, senile, and often comatose continued to win re-election in a heavily minority urban district until her death.

But there may well be ones in 50/50 districts that could be recalled.
