If nothing changes, then sometime soon thousands of layoff notices are going to go out to Wisconsin state employees. Their jobs will depend on a budget being passed. My bet is, the fleebaggers return to do their duty, and their maggot supporters will hail them as heroes.

Unions won't care much about some layoffs - especially considering what is at stake. That is one of the major problems with public sector unions. They basically are able to hold a gun to the head of localities, cities and states. Elected representatives often suggest reducing pay and benefits in order to save jobs and keep proper staffing, and unions virtually always reject that opting instead for layoffs.

In the current situation, unions would rather see even 20k layoffs than what Walker and the Republicans are proposing. At stake are the union dues the government steals from workers whether they want to be in the union or support its agenda or not.

This fight goes right to the financial underpinnings of the Democratic party and you can be absolutely sure they'd love it if this ended with layoffs rather than Walker's plan.

Given a choice between a 5% raise with a 5% layoff and the status quo, the union will always choose the raise and the layoff.

Unions aren't about jobs. They're about wages...and dues.
