Eric Holder: Black Panther case focus demeans 'my people'

Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.

Holder's frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.

The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.

I am just musing the $-itStorm that would have arisen if John Ashcroft would have mouthed such a statement.

I thought that too. The paid agitators in Wisconsin would flee Madison for DC, Al Sharpton would get his bullhorn, Jesse Jackson would best on the first flight in with a flock of cameramen.

Double standard.

Even though the Senate would not vote yes on this I believe the House should immediately start impeachment proceedings. He is an appointed government official what makes him different than any other government official who can be thrown out of office via impeachment. Atleast this would draw attention to how racist and despicable Holder is.

No, dude. If you had done it correctly in the first place, people wouldn’t have called you on it.

So now you are going to blame your bad move on the people who are demanding the justice you never produced.

Not impartial. My people?? What if Bush had said that?

Fire his butt now.

Why don’t the voters who were intimidated file a civil suit against the New Black Planthers and name the Justice Department. This is what a bunch of blacks did to the KKK about 20 years ago in Mississippi and when they won, they took all of the klans assets- millions. It completely destroyed the KKK group and gave the litigants a bunch of cash and property.

Your point is on target. The article doesn't quote him saying what the headline says in the same words but the problem is not “demeans” it is “my people.”

He is not a legislator from a state or district — by oath he does not have a “my people” except the entire citizenry of the USA. Acting like he is some race-victim pol is very low class for a sitting Attorney General of the USA. It shows his true feelings, not the judicious consideration of the merits of the charges.

I had a good long discussion with a lady the other day and we concluded that historic and experienced events and feelings about those events would forever out weight reality, facts, statistic and recorded history for her and many other black Americans. That “reality” out weights all others in their thinking and dealings with society — it isn't malicious, it is just ingrained.

I hate the term “African-American”. Unless you were born in Africa and later became an American, you are NOT “African-American”!!

LOL...I me to. I was sitting in my graduate class and one of the students was called upon to answer a question concering crime and he mentioned "blacks". The professor interuptted him and said, "We prefer the term African-American so no one is offended".

The student said, "I won't have any of that political correct crap. I was born in South Africa, hold dual passports. I am African-American, and until "blacks" in America show me an African passport, they are black, and I am white"......

Guess what....the subject never came up again the entire semester, and he was top student in class! Heck even the blacks nodded.

Interesting.

I have a question, though - how did they get the Klan to disclose their assets?

Did the KKK keep books or something?

I guess the cat’s out of the bag.

He might as well have said that he’s only interested in being Attorney General to serve the interests of black people.

The rest of you crackers can just bug out.

Wow....just, WOW!

I suspect this means that Obama will be forced to throw him overboard if he is serious about running again in 2012.

You can put this whiteboy down in the “believes it” column.

Amazing. Very telling, too. Focusing on the most egregious case of voter intimidation in my lifetime, is oppressing "Holder's People".

Holder, when you took the job, EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN became YOUR PEOPLE.
