ARVADA, Colo. -- An 11-year-old Arvada boy was arrested and hauled away in handcuffs for drawing stick figures in school, something his therapist told him to do...
The school was aware that the boy was in treatment, determined he was not a threat, notified his parents and sent him back to class. His mother, Jane was shocked when Arvada Police showed up at their home later that night.
She says she told her son to cooperate and tell the truth, but was horrified when they told her they were arresting him and then handcuffed him and hauled him away in a patrol car.

ARTH!
Not talking “hicks” here. Hicks would have infinitely more sense. Arvada is a suburb of Denver, whose mind apparently long ago evaporated in the altitude.
An excellent lesson, here.
Why did the police handcuff that child?
1. Because safety of officers is paramount.
2. “Just following orders.”
3. Because a kid poses an actual physical threat, as indicated by drawings.
4. They love the power trip.
5. YOU WILL OBEY!!!
Sorry, I really wanted to call them dicks, ancient slang term for “detectives,” but was worried it might be misunderstood.
We are heading straight to England-behavior.
Major mistake. NEVER, EVER talk to the cops. Nothing good ever comes from it. The only possible exception might be if you are the victim of a crime; and then you must still also be careful and seek out the advice ofan attorney.
Best thing to tell a cop who comes to your house to "talk" is to ask, "Do yo have either an arrest or search warrant?" If not; "Get off my property."
We are heading straight to England-behavior.

I beg to differ, sir. We are headed straight toward Lexington and Concord, and King’s Mountain behavior.
Seems to be a lot missing from this story.
A necessary point, thanks for making it.
When I was in grammar school some of us used to draw our own comics. These usually featured aliens attacking earth and wiping out schools and teachers and stuff like that. Not a single one of us grew up to become a criminal. Image what would happen to us today with the insane idiots running the schools.
But it was a lot if fun. I’m reliving the experience right now by drawing stick figures of cops being run over by SUVs. It’s even more fun when you put swastika armbands on the cops. Next up are stick figures of school officials being soaked in kerosene and set afire.
I once had 'bad neighbor' problems. Two visits by the cops and they realized that it was better to toss the chip off their shoulders and be good neighbors. Fortunately for all, they didn't follow your advice.
“Arvada is a suburb of Denver, whose mind apparently long ago evaporated in the altitude.”
Latte liberals, it sounds like. Give utopians lethal force and authority to use it and these are the kinds or results to expect.
Yeah, and then you learn that a serial rapist has been skulking around the neighborhood and is now under your daughter’s bedroom window.
Never say never.
Details probably missing because the parents want their names kept out of it, good luck with that...
But my guess is the teacher mentioned it to someone and was then advised that if only to cover her keister legally, she ought to make a formal report. Next thing you know, the doughnut boys are called up to defend the nation.
Wouldn’t this fall under 1st amendment rights?
How can a minor be held responsible for something like this?
Shouldn’t they have hauled off the parents?
