MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin's senate majority leader says the chamber will convene to pass non-spending bills and act on appointments Tuesday even if minority Democrats remain out of state.
Republican Sen. Scott Fitzgerald told The Associated Press on Sunday that he would be reviewing which bills and appointees to schedule for action. He says senators can't wait around "twiddling their thumbs" until the Democrats return.
Fourteen Democrats fled to Illinois last week to delay action on a budget bill that would effectively eliminate collective bargaining rights for most public employees. Republicans need 20 of 33 members to have a quorum to pass any spending bill but only a simple majority of 17 for other items.
Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller says Democrats will not return until Gov. Scott Walker is ready to compromise on his labor proposal.

Sorry to hear about your brother. He is very lucky to have a loving family to bring him home.
Oh great! Now they probably think I'm madder than a hatter! :-)
Seriously, this is tilting in the right's favor. The democrats seem to have put most of their eggs in the "rent-a-mob" union intimidation basket. And I think that's backfiring on them. The nastiness of some of the signs that they're holding up are turning the public off. Closing the schools turned people off. The "fake medical excuse" is making them look bad. Busing in bigshot union people is making them look bad. The fact that a decent crowd supporting the governor showed up, on short notice. And finally, outside of a small circle of teachers (and probably not the majority of them either), the runaway democrat Senators isn't gaining them any positive public opinion. I'm sure that the dems have a few more tricks up their sleeve, but I think they put their big cards on the table first and it isn't working.
The governor is not going to be intimidated. Neither, it seems, are the state Senators on the right.
That is a beautiful Lewis quote. Thank you for posting it. Gods blessing on you and yours.

Add to this list:
1. No more open primaries.
2. No more registration on the day of the election.
3. No more “provisional” ballots.
4. If there are more ballots in a precinct than voters, it is considered automatic fraud.
5. Any city, county, or state official found guilty of election fraud loses their state pension, retirement benefits, and gets 20 years of hard time at hard labor without any chance of parole.
“Isnt it kinda fun being the FR cheerleader for the right to succeed in America?”
It’s been a L-O-N-G time comin’, Baby! Luckily I am a woman of infinite patience, LOL! :)
I would add drug, alcohol, and nicotine testing for ANYONE on any kind of public assistance. Any positive results would disqualify them for any further "entitlements".
The Dems would lose their minds.
That’s the hard part when you love somebody so much. We lost our first child; since then 2 of my sisters have lost their husbands. It’s painful to even remember the joyful times at first, but after a while the joy comes back. I tell my kids that Heaven is where you never have to say “good-bye” ever again, though for a while here you have to be in a separate room from the one you love. It sounds so flippant, but it helps me when I remember that.

Sorry for the double post.
“Wisconsin Governor Walker is sending in riot police to clear the Capitol building tonight.”
Please, Oh, Please, Oh, Please! :)
Ping me when you find out more! Thanks!
Yep. And it looks like they're doing it.
I must be dreaming...
I can not even image.
The one blessing, is that I know mom and dad are there to greet Frankie.
I believe you are correct,at least through my own experiences that joy will return mingled with a longing that I can not explain, I just feel it in my heart.
And with unemployment so high, there will be a stampede for these jobs from around the country.

This is great! Wisconsin’s governor and its Republican senate are a breath of fresh air.
I apologize for the obvious question, but couldn’t the WI Senate create a new bill with the language limiting public union collective bargaining on non pay issues and vote on it with a simple majority present? There would be no spending involved in that. The emergency spending bill would be modified accordingly for a vote when the RATS return, and the people of WI get what they wanted (as demonstrated in the Nov 2010 vote). This seems to effectively counter the RATS move of running away and then the R’s in WI can have a field day passing any and all other legislation they may want. Could end up being the most productive legislative session in the history of the Republic.
Another option. Tell them that you will accept the union offer and when they show up have a vote to add the other stuff that Gov Walker wants...and wammo they are there and it’s a legal vote.
But in the meantime definitely pass some bills without their input.
“OBOBO, write yourself a post-it memo ==STAY OUT OF Wisconsin’s BUSINESS! “
Better yet, go to Venezuela and check on the weather.
>> What happens if nobody calls for a quorum <<
Doesn’t matter. Wisconsin law requires that every legislative day begin with a quorum call.
