URGENT: Gunfire heard in Cairo's Tahrir Square as supporters of President Mubarak and anti-government demonstrators clash hours after the embattled leader defiantly said he would serve out his term in office.

Watch how you choose your symbols. Volunteer veterans are worthy of the heartiest salute whether they came from East Slobbovia in Maineiac Hickville or whatever. I’m not going to give that same salute to an entire geographic region, most of whose occupants (by number) wouldn’t have even wanted those veterans to go. I’m a stranger here in an even more strange place.
My compliments.
One would hope they could “shock” some sense into them without
destroying their own history! They will wake up tomorrow
saying “what was I thinking” if they are decent. But decent
people don’t throw molotov cocktails anyway!
I pray this is resolved without more death and destruction.
The capacity for a people to be regimented in perverse ways can never be underestimated. Most of the human occupants of this funny planet do not consider “freedom” dear enough to be worth butting heads with their fellow humans over. America seems a fortuitous accident (of course I do not believe in accidents, but only so to speak).
Dubbya started out great! I was really impressed with the incredible way they prosecuted the initial invasion.
They lost it when they stopped dead in their tracks in the first month. They should have sent another million troops over there and rooted out the insurgents and terrorists where they lived, in the first year.
Instead, he played his fathers game. Decided he wanted to be seen as the Pragmatic Bush he thought his daddy was. And started “rebuilding” DUmbocracy in a pond of insurgent quicksand.
Dumb move, admittedly.

The Egyptian foreign ministry appears to be rejecting President Obama’s call for an immediate transition from the government of President Hosni Mubarak — and says that such calls are inciting violence. “What foreign parties are saying about ‘a period of transition beginning immediately’ in Egypt is rejected,” said foreign ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki, adding that such calls “inflame the internal situation in Egypt.”

Very true FRiend.......
Unreal, eh?
I guess it’s pretty ugly in Cairo now...lots of serious injuries, burns and general chaos.
It’s instructive to watch a rebellion without a leader.
Going to walk the dog :)

Grumpface Gibbs on TV, spouting claptrap again.
ok this is gibbs so far responding, hmm urgh, uh ,ah, uh ,ah, hmm maybe, hmm, not sure, restrian, ah uh, transition.
I just hope it’s settled soon and without more death and
destruction. I would hope that there would be an effort at
establishing a democracy, but if (of course, they are!) the muslims are at the
forefront that ain’t happening! Zero is keeping a low profile
for a very good reason.
Where is a real leader when we need one!
Gibbs getting hammered by the press, its obvious the press think Obama is MIA.
When a president has no moral compass other than his own popularity, he can only try to do what makes himself look good. If he guesses wrong, watch out. Obama is responsible for many deaths here.
President...”a time for change has come”....
Translation....”Islamic time is at hand, suckahs!”
Actual Newsmax article title. Goons?
THIS IS PLAIN NUTS.
The corrupt media and the admin are clearly wanting and working on making Egypt into an Islamic regime and cheerleading the fact that American is sticking her nose into affairs and when Iran was going on they stayed silent.
It’s plain nuts and obviously obama and his dirty mouthpieces in the media are spinning this
Did he mention anything about...... “HOPE” & WTF?
