Which god are we talking about here? If it’s allah, it’s a problem, thanks to the sword verses in the Quran. Under allah, beating your four wives is a right for some.
I’m not sure how easy it is anymore to distinguish between Arab people and Muslim people, at least from the US.
Parliament is the best these guys are going to be able to do. The problem’s going to be whether a business will be able to enforce a contract, or whether workers have the right to own property, or whether freedom of speech and assembly will be permitted. Without those, you don’t have a free market. Free markets follow free peoples.
We don’t have a leader who I have 100% confidence in right now. Well not a flesh and blood one.
If Mubarak is fleeing the country, I have a feeling that there will be no military quashing of this uprising.
Democracy/freedom are both anathma was the point.

We have friends that lived in Iran under the Shah's rule and when he was overthrown.
Our friend was a young girl and there are still things she won't talk about. Luckily, since I'm writing about them, they were able to flee to the U.S.
This uprising is not a good thing!

If this isn’t the Shah and the Ayatollah all over again...
CNN guy said a few minutes ago that this is the largest “pro-democracy demonstration in the history of Egypt”...
Uhm no, CNN, this is a pro-islamist demonstration, run and probably well-financed by assorted bad guys.
WH just delayed the Gibbs briefing indefinitely. WH struggling what to say about protests in Egypt and how strongly to say it.
Notice how today the media and Govt have started using the words “egyptian regime”...not really used before.
The MB would be up for an election, because they would win.
That was my point, the majority is a bunch of freedom-hating Islamists.
THAT is the White House response? Like any thinking person needs the gubbermint to tell them that.
I used a gang analogy earlier. I think it’s fitting, because it helps us to understand what the atmosphere is like in places like Egypt.
There you have Islamic sects. You have radical Islamicists. They vie for power. Each thinks the other Sect is unfaithful to Islam. It’s unreasonable to think there wouldn’t be a strong man in charge of a nation whose make-up is like this.
Mubarak doesn’t stand for fair elections like our leaders (hopefully) in the West do. That still doesn’t mean he is on the order of a Saddam Hussein. He is more of an enlightened leader than other leaders in the Middle-East and Africa are. No, he is by no means perfect, but harping on him being a thus isn’t necessarily true either.
In a situation where you either exhibit strong will or watch your nation crumble, you project a strong will.
Mubarak is not my favorite guy by any stretch of the imagination. Still, what follows him in this conflict, is ten times worse for everyone.
He has anarchists on his streets. I wish him good luck.
I’ve seen anarchists on our streets first hand, and they have provided reasons why we should never back the likes of these rabble-rousers.
If were talking about a nation that wants to truly set up a free society like Poland wanted when under Russia’s thumb, I say great. When we’re talking about radical Islamicists, hell no.
I, for one, think Obama and his “Apology Tour” helped this situation come about sooner than it may have without it. Years of delicate international negotiations from a point of strength by the United States was largely negated by Obama’s bowing and scraping on our behalf.
Despite Obama’s and Hilary Clintons “Muslims are our brothers” nonsense, radical Islam continues to grow as the enemy of freedom across the world. Angela Merkle has, so far been the only world leader brave enough to sound the alarm in no uncertain terms. I’m not sure but I think she has since been silenced.
When they become strong enough and think the United States leadership is weak enough, (I think that’s pretty close right now) they will make their concerted move to utterly destroy Israel. The coming days might be surprising in the revelation of who Israel’s and our friends are or if we have any at all.
I’m personally not expecting much from Obama or his administration on this. We just might find out some surprising things about our own “leader” in these trying times. Remember what he said in his book about who he would side with if push comes to shove? I have no doubt that applies to international affairs as well.
Looks like somebody else can't summon up common courtesy....

Maybe people are just sick of dictators and oppressive centralized governments. Just maybe?
From what I hear it is the moslem brotherhood that has things sturred up. If that is the case, it goes beyond that, but an attempt at an islamic overthrow by the radicals. Say what you will, the stability of the relationship between Israel and Egypt has been one of the shining stars for peace in the region.
BTW, also on the news, the moslem brotherhood is sturring up riots in Jordan as well today.

Sarah is NOT our President, and has no chance of being our President in the next few months, which is when this whole mess will be playing itself out....
