First Black Tea Party Forms in Houston

Crispus Attucks Falls at the Boston Massacre
Anita MonCrief, infamous ACORN whistleblower, was asked to go on Sean Hannitys radio show [2] Thursday the 20th to discuss the founding of Americas first black Tea Party [3].
Named after the first person to die in the Revolutionary War, the Crispus Attucks [4] Tea Party was founded January 18th, 2011, at This Is It [5] soul food restaurant in the heart of Houston, Texas 3rd district. (Read the interesting original court documents about the Boston Massacre, including a dramatic description of Attucks slaying, here [6].)
The 3rd district is Represented by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and was the focal point of rampant ACORN-style vote fraud [7] and widespread voter intimidation [8] this past November. It is thus fitting that this tea party had its inaugural meeting [9] right down the street from Lees residence.
With the typical politesse and considerate attitude of conservatives always left unreported by the press (do ya think?) Rep. Lee was extended an invitation to the event. And with typical leftist rudeness, Lee snubbed it. Wonder why? These are her constituents, after all.
Surprisingly, the local Fox News channel reporting on the event hastened to observe [10] that many attendees at this founding meeting were white. Simply unbelievable. Is it not even possible to attend an event in support of the group without the information being somehow skewed by the media to suggest that it wasnt authentic because white people were there???
One blogger put up a hilarious parody of liberal hypocrisy, observing that if they could get away with it, liberals would report the event as: White Tea Party Racists Attend Black Tea Party [11].
Well, never mind. The times they are a changin! Yes they are, and the media is getting the message, whether they want to hear it or not. We are not going away.
You think? That is why they are not just conservatives but black conservatives because race matters in the black community. Not just entrepreneurs but black entrepreneurs because race matters in the black community. That is why McDonald has 365 Black because race matter in the black community. That is why they hide statues of George Washington because race matter in the black community.
Well, what you say is absolutely the case. Just walking around in a black skin is an advertisement to most people that you're a Democrat, at the very least. These days, many folks assume that if you're black, you're also an affirmative action liberal.
Americans of all stripes tend look at blacks and automatically assume that they fall on the left.
When people discover that I'm a conservative, it's something of a shock to them - no matter their personal politics. They just do not expect it.
Depending on their politics, I'm soon their best buddy, or I'm a race-hating traitor who's been brainwashed by the evil right-wing. The kinder lefties simply consider me to be a lost soul.
There aren't a whole lot of black conservatives on this forum, but those who are, feel just like any other conservative about the subject of race. It's simply irrelevant and inconsequential to our world view.
That being said, those blacks who are still behind the barbed wire fence of the liberal plantation are more comfortable getting the conservative message from someone whom they perceive to be "their own". That doesn't mean that black conservatives feel the same as they do, but we can appreciate the mindset of those who are still trapped within the prison of leftist (racist) indoctrination.
All black conservatives know deep in their bones that they bear the responsibility of spearheading the movement to enlighten other blacks to conservatism. As distasteful as it is for us to assume this responsibility because of our race, the job is ours. There's no getting around that reality.
With all due respect, Altura, you're full of sh!t, throwing that baseless charge out.
I'm a conservative who just happens to be black, and I can tell you that race is as unimportant to me, as it is to any other conservative patriot. If race held any real importance in my thinking, I wouldn't BE a conservative.
The point of this whole conversation is that conservatives who happen to be black must confront the fact that many Americans who share similar DNA and ancestry with them, are NOT as liberated as they are, and it's these conservatives who must initially shoulder the heaviest burden of making inroads into the black community.
It's simply the way it is. To refuse to work within the confines of REALITY is something that libs do - not conservatives.
When you hear the term, "black conservatives", just understand that we're not the ones applying that label to ourselves. The fact is, we're rare among Americans, and that we will continue to be singled out this way until we're as common as conservatives in any other racial group.
Bully for you but with all due respect you are full of sh!t yourself. If race doesn’t matter then why are we even having this conversation? Why are they ‘black’ conservatives. Oh that’s right you don’t label yourselves but certainly embrace the idea. Just as so called black conservatives do nothing to insist the Black Caucus disband or the NAACP disband or any other the myriad of race groups that advocate based solely on race. I guess that too is just the way it is? Funny how there is an excuse for blacks using race no matter what the issue. How it is ‘the way it is’ as you say. How the only way to make ‘inroads’ is to use race. How convenient.

A most excellent posting of the truth.
All our children are being raised in a Christian American conservative home. I expect depending on their personalities many different experiences and involvement will play out. We have traveled to DC twice for the 9-12 March as a family.
Of all our children, we are preparing our daughter who is black on what she can expect and what may be her added role in society. She is an outgoing, social butterfly. Where much is given, much is expected. So far she seems ready for the challenge at 11yo, time will tell. Our son and thereby her brother who is black is developmentally 2-3 months old and although almost the same age they will have drastically different life experiences.
The burden is certainly on conservatives who are black to carry the truth to other Americans who are black. Unfortunately Obama’s election appears to me to have set race relations back many years. May our Lord be pleased to repay these relations for the years the locusts have eaten in part from Joel 2:25.
Amen. That comes as no surprise. Not the least because conservate principles totally transcend race; race is irrelevant.
All black conservatives know deep in their bones that they bear the responsibility of spearheading the movement to enlighten other blacks to conservatism. As distasteful as it is for us to assume this responsibility because of our race, the job is ours. There's no getting around that reality.
I guess what I was trying to say to Altura is that I can see conservatives who happen to be black identifying themselves as black conservatives NOT for the enlightenment of whites, but for the enlightenment of fellow blacks, to show them that indeed conservatism DOES transcend race, that it's okay to be black and conservative, to communicate to other blacks who may be sitting on the political fence that not everyone who's black is a liberal. That's what I meant when I said that race might matter to the folks in the black community.
Thanks for your kind and thoughtful response, Windflier.
That is UNLIKE, for example, gay conservatives, who seek special treatment within the conservative movement in that they want conservatism to include politicians who will vote for gay "rights," which is a form of affirmative action and antithetical to conservatism. They're not identifying themselves as gay to get the attention of other gays, they're doing it to announce to non-gay conservatives that they want special treatment in exchange for their votes.
Bravo Zulu, Windflier!
Because people like you just will not let it go.
Why are they black conservatives.
Because people like you keep calling them that. They're not individuating themselves, much as you want to pin that on them.
Oh thats right you dont label yourselves but certainly embrace the idea.
Don't be juvenile. There's a very large difference between being 'race-conscious', and being conscious of ones race. Black conservatives are no more fixated on their own race than you are on yours, but they're saddled with the burden of being a minority within a minority that is monolithically liberal Democrat.
Just as so called black conservatives do nothing to insist the Black Caucus disband or the NAACP disband or any other the myriad of race groups that advocate based solely on race. I guess that too is just the way it is? Funny how there is an excuse for blacks using race no matter what the issue.
Just how much muscle do you think black conservatives have? Are you aware of what a vanishingly small number we really are in America?
And, how do you know that black conservatives aren't doing anything to resist racist organizations like the NAACP and the CBC? Do you talk to black conservatives? Have you even asked? Do you want us to band together and challenge the NAACP as a united group? Wouldn't the simple act of us organizing as a group violate your rules?
You obviously have such fixed ideas about blacks, that you can't even accept the concept of a conservative with black skin. I highly resent your implication that black conservatives are no different than any other race-centric blacks, and I must say that this is the first time I've run into an attitude like yours on the right wing.
It truly is, which is why I applaud Anita Moncrief for putting together the first Tea Party in a black community. I also applaud Apostle Claver of Raging Elephants for spreading the conservative message in the black community, as well as many other lesser-known, but hard working conservatives of color.
Unfortunately Obamas election appears to me to have set race relations back many years.
I guess I'm a 'glass half full' sort of person. I see the election of Obama as an opportunity to emancipate blacks from the liberal plantation. He's the best example of the failure of affirmative action liberalism that I've ever seen.
Kudos to you for bringing up your children with patriotic, conservative values. Unlike most black children today, they have been born into freedom.
Thank you, Mamba. Much appreciated.
The effort to add something enlightening to the actual title was immediately misleading and inflamatory. One does not always have time to scrub each article for each kernal of fact so it's important not to screw around with the titles!!! (tomorrow I'll return here and tell you how I really feel!)(grin)
Windflier, I had assumed that Altura's snippet in post #8 (""To build a strong base of conservative Black entrepreneurs, elected officials and constituents that provide Black conservatives a viable way to express and implement their conservative values politically." ) came from somewhere in the original story.
It was an assumption -- this morning I clicked on the link and THEN clicked on a link within that one to the press release from the Crispus Attucks Tea Party. Didn't find that quote anywhere in it, but the press release did give the impression that the group is focusing on addressing folks in the black community, and I think for the very reasons YOU have so eloquently stated.
Altura, WHERE DID YOU GET the quote in post #8?
Heh...thanks for having a sense of humor about it. This stuff is all so wearisome, ya know?
I'm thrilled you are a conservative without regard to anything else!!! God bless you Windflier!!!
Cheers, Sierra. I knew you hadn’t stopped to read the story.
The part in parenthesis after the headline was enough to confuse most of us. I almost thought the same thing as you did, until I slowed down and read the article.
best regards,
Windy
I love your tagline and your attitude, dude!!!
Much appreciated, SW.
You know what they say... there's no conservative like an ex-liberal. I'm living proof of that.
I got 'mugged by reality' during Bubba's time, and made my escape from the Democrat plantation. Never looked back once.
________I guess I’m a ‘glass half full’ sort of person. I see the election of Obama as an opportunity to emancipate blacks from the liberal plantation. He’s the best example of the failure of affirmative action liberalism that I’ve ever seen__________
I hope you are correct and what I am experiencing is just temporary. My heart breaks when I consider people being sold “goods” that are contrary to what they think they are getting. On a medical trip to Chicago 8 years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to an American who happened to be conservative and black. We discussed frankly the slavery via affirmative action and all the various “programs” disguised as beneficial and of course we know it is a lie. These “benefits” steal the very soul, self worth, liberty and dignity that the majority of Americans (whether 1st generation or 10th generation) enjoy. Obama could care a less for the majority of people of color. Progressives like him seek even more degradation of the populace than what already is in play, especially for your average American who is black.
I will be praying the message of liberation makes a huge in road to black Americans. May you never grow weary of the tasks that are before you.
