Vanity: Is serving in the military a constitutional civil RIGHT?
Jim Robinson

Posted on 12/19/2010 12:25:15 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Can anyone just march into a recruiting office and demand his constitutionally guaranteed civil RIGHT to serve? Or does he first have to qualify? Mentally, educationally, physically, healthwise, morally, etc?

Wanted: A few good MEN (girly-men in a pinch)

In the old sailing navy days, they’d make you ship’s cook. The nice thing about that job is that it was a standing warrant officer rating, you kept your job even when the ship was taken out of commission and put up in ordinary. Also, no actual cooking was required.

I hear they’re going to allow women AND homos on submarines. Man, oh, man. What a mess that’s going to be. His, hers, maybes, both, either and or ways.

Every time this DADT issue comes up, all I can think of is Klinger on MASH. Is the world turned upside down or what?

That’s what “openly gay” means. They get to flaunt it, as is “Hi! I’m gay and in your face!”

So you support the repeal of DADT?

My opinions on this issue are mine alone and I'm under no obligation to give them to your or anyone else. Nonetheless, I will follow the orders of those appointed over me in a professional manner. You can read into this statement whatever you like.

How many Gays are in the Military? How many want to join?
How much damage are we doing for the sake of how many?

You support it, why am I not surprised?

You even answered the question in your usual troll fashion, again no surprise.

If you’ve ever watched M.A.S.H., the character Klingle uses his dressing up as a woman to try to get himself out of the Army. That series was pre-DADT, supposedly set during the conflict in Korea, when we had a draft and homosexuality was an instant 4F (reject).

It is my understanding that Israel is experiencing some real problems these days, as the children and grandchildren of the old warriors are too liberal and soft.

do you think people who are homosexual will eventually start prancing around being loud and proud about their orientation?

Today's military is made up of professionals who tend to behave that way. Service members who behave unprofessionally, regardless of their sexual orientation, are made to see the errors of their ways. If this behavior continues, they will be shown the door. I don't expect this will change.

Very few. And very few will sign up. But enough to do a whole lot of harm.

> “ how long will it be before the Military is forced to actively recruit homos?”

.
At this point, all that will be enlisting will be homos anyway. Who is so numb skulled that they cannot see the presumption of homosexuality that soon will be applied subconsiously to all in uniform?

I think so too. I don’t think there will turn out to be tens of thousands of Gays serving honorably. If it is more than a percent or two I will be surprised.

DADT is a victory for the homo’s but it isn’t going to give them everything they want. We had them in the service when I was in back in the late 60’s. Out of self preservation, they generally kept a low profile.

The military is not going to give them any more rights than they do heterosexuals........ fraternization, co-habitation, etc.

I think they will muck things up, but I also suspect they are in for a rude awakening.

PLEASE DO NOT ZOT ME, I DO NOT SUPPORT THE HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA!!!! REALLY!!! i mean that.
having said that, most homosexuals don’t do that in their normal day to day lives. so why would they start just because of this change. yes there are many gays who are loud and flamboyant about it, it is the be all and end all of how they identify themselves. but most of them are just living their life in a quiet manner, not hiding but not getting in everyone else’s face. these folks don’t go around screaming that they are homo any more than we go around screaming that we are hetero. these seem to be the ones who are most often drawn to the military service and they have served honorably. they have the same sense of duty and patriotism that draws many to the military. but do you think these folks are going to go all “oh snap, girlfriend, these straight boys are hot”? (that was not sarcasm, it is an honest quest for sincere info....PLEASE DO NOT ZOT ME.... seriously)

No, it is not a civil right to serve. It’s an honor, but many people have been refused for all kinds of things. It’s just that the autism lobby and the flat-footed lobby are not as strong or socially cool as the gay lobby.

Indeed, the unintended consequences of this are going to be endless.
