Vanity: Is serving in the military a constitutional civil RIGHT?
Jim Robinson

Posted on 12/19/2010 12:25:15 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Can anyone just march into a recruiting office and demand his constitutionally guaranteed civil RIGHT to serve? Or does he first have to qualify? Mentally, educationally, physically, healthwise, morally, etc?

Wanted: A few good MEN (girly-men in a pinch)

Nope. The military can reject you - just as they can kick you out once you’re in.

Well the question is will cross dressing “male” military members be able to wear female military uniforms.. will lesbian military be able to have their head shaved and wear male uniforms..

That these men do not think this will affect morale just shows they do not live in the real world..

I think people have to earn that right by being the kind of person who will go the distance with their fellow military people. Who wants someone in the trench with them who is not capable of doing the necessary job? Am I making any sense?

As my son the Marine can tell you, the USMC doesn’t want or take everyone.

Especially in the office corps.

I think the Military just does not hire anyone. I think they have to have openings then have qualifications to fill the open positions. Right to work here in Colorado only covers not having to join a union. I think military would have the right to refuse anyone that did not qualify. Get lawyers involved and anything can happen.

Don’t see why not. The government forces businesses to employ cross-dressers. Why not the military?

If the only thing holding someone back is their sexual orientation then I believe it is unconstitutional. If he can’t run, he’s out. If he can’t follow orders, he’s out. If he can’t shoot a gun, he’s out. If he can do everything but just so happens to fancy dudes, who cares?

I think the men and women in our military are mature and strong enough to handle many things. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be in the military.

Flame away.

The standards have been lowered a lot farther than most civilians know.

Once you qualify into the military you lose your Constitutional rights. Also, the 13th amendment goes out the window if you are drafted.

I hear you loud and clear. However, I’ve always thought that that automatic exemption that homosexuality bestows in time of war is greater than the evil of homosexuals serving.

Let’s be honest. For every gay demanding the right to serve in peace time, there would be a thousand who’d use it as a get out of danger and stay home drinking cosmopolitans card in war time.

Perhaps in war we could use the greek system, and make homosexuals serve in homosexual only units.

Nope. Serving in the military is a privilege. That privilege is subject to qualifications of the branch of service you are applying for.

As my son the Marine can tell you, the USMC doesn’t want or take everyone.

Just in case anyone reading this thread missed it elsewhere, Louie Gohmert of the Texas 1st, ex-Army and a true American Patriot makes a compelling speech about the dangers of homosexuals this clip.

Our fighting force must be comprised of the best and brightest. By definition that excludes the abhorrent deviancy of homosexuality.

Ooohlala. That'll recruit 'em in San Francisco.

Heck NO, the military used have standards. I won't venture a guess today, but there is NO Constitutional right to serve.

I have been wondering that to, can the Military now ask, then if told, promptly reject as unqualified?

But if he hangs around looking for quickie dates outside the latrine or aft head, it’s ok? Honest chief, I’m just a toe-tapping wide stance kinda guy.
