Can anyone just march into a recruiting office and demand his constitutionally guaranteed civil RIGHT to serve? Or does he first have to qualify? Mentally, educationally, physically, healthwise, morally, etc?
Wanted: A few good MEN (girly-men in a pinch)
Exactly where does the Constitution address homosexuality?
Serving in uniform is an honor and a privledge, definitely NOT a right.
The uniform must be worn for the right reasons. And wanting to wear it just because the ‘person’ thinks it will make sodomy and perversion somehow acceptable is not among the right reasons.
God. Duty. Honor. Country. The only reasons the uniform can be worn.
But you knew that already.
Curious....during drafts, were gays excluded if it was obvious or they admitted to being gay?
Yes. If someone was a known homosexual he would not be drafted. He would have been rejected by his draft board. There were people who pretended to be gay to avoid the draft. If you were already in the military, and were discovered to be a homosexual, you were thrown out of the military (no matter how good your record was otherwise).
Serving in the military should ALWAYS be voluntary.
hey, Mr JimRob! Are you trying to re-up?
Wow, take a hard situation and make it WORSE for them. Such a hero you are.
I think if you have never served in the military you should keep quiet.
I'm pretty sure the "don't ask" part of DADT will remain in place.
If they’d let me stump aboard on my peg leg, I’m there!
The leftists seek to turn absolutely every aspect of society and of the lives of each individual into a collectivist “social justice” scheme. Thus the military is redefined by leftists into a vehicle for social transformation, rather than an institution solely dedicated to the physical defense of our Republic.
New slogans being focused grouped by the Obama administration:
The Few. The proud. The fabulous.
Aim high...we’re wearing pumps.
Dick Army.
We get more buggery done by 8am than most people do all day.
It’s not just a Blow Job...it’s an adventure.
Gay...Army Gay.
You and the Navy. Full speed ahead , it’s not called “Captains mast” for nothing...
We’re looking for a few good men... *wink*
All kidding aside, how long will it be before the Military is forced to actively recruit homos?
Before said homos complain that their orders are directed at them specifically because they are homos and are therefore punitive?
But there are gays serving in the military right now. Quietly doing what their job calls for. It’s just not a banner that they’re wearing on their uniforms. They don’t have a ‘right’ to be there. No one does. But, now will they start screaming about their ‘rights’ because they’re gay? I think that’s JimRob’s point.
DADT repeal will now make it a rights issue.
More likely a walrus I believe...;-)
There comes a time when that is not possible. See entry at Israel.
I had a feeling you were aching to re-up—LOL!
brings new meaning to “Be all you can be”
you forgot your sarcasm tag
In peacetime, yes. In wartime, no. If you want to live in the country, then you have a duty to protect it.
