The Senate has just voted to end debate on a bill that would lift the ban on gays serving openly in the military, essentially clearing the measure for passage and signature by the president.

Lawmakers voted 63 to 33 to end debate on the current policy, put in place by former president Bill Clinton, informally known as "don't ask don't tell."

The Senate could vote on final passage of the measure as early as today but it will most likely happen on Sunday or Monday.

"We are on the verge of ending 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for good," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said after the vote "This is one of those moments in our history when we stepped up and squared our policies with the values this nation was founded upon."

seeing as you keep asking this poster I’ll answer your question, Yes I served in a combat unit, yes I served with special forces and yes I know plenty still serving.
Now I did talk to a pal of mine the other day and he asked me to send a message to the reps and that message was.

Please do not repeal don’t ask as none of the boys here want it repealed.

I hope your question was answered.

You have said it well. If they think a military opposed to God will prosper, they should re-think it before the Lord acts in the here and now. They seem to think they can relegate the Lord’s authority to the afterlife and “sorting it out there”. I think we are in for a rude awakening.

Allowing a sexual element into the military is what is bad policy.

Wait til a queer gets into a fight with a marine over stolen money, whatever.

They'll scream homophobia and the libs will line up behind him to lynch the marine.

Blacks do it.

Women do it.

Why not gays?

This is a TERRIBLE precedent.

The problems with Rinos, is they begin their relationship with their voters with a lie. (they are actually Democrats)

Sort of like a woman who marries the man she had an affair with while he was married. It begins with a lie, and is doomed.

But, Rinos are ELECTABLE don't you know!

semantics the left likes that too.

I say it again for you and hope you can answer my question , do you support the repeal and do you think homosexuals should marry each other?.
I will donate all the spare money I have to defeat these people who supported and voted this homosexual agenda.

Hope that is plain talk enough for you now.

The political class pushing this absurdity almost without exception never served in the U.S. military. Obama never, Reid never, Pelosi, of course, never. Robert Gates served in the USAF as an intelligence officer stateside for two years. This was during the Vietnam War 1967-1969.
As a former Marine I find this profoundly disturbing, this in short time, will undermine the quality of front line fighting units, whether it be the Marine Corps or Army. If some young Marine takes exception to someone patting him on the butt, or has to tolerate a late night tryst between two or more fags two bunks down from him in the squad bay ... and punches someone out ... the straight Marine will be brought up on charges that will be amplified by the fact he punched out a perverted but privileged minority.

...and since you’re merely miffed, this is another victory for Hussein and his cult.

Their goal is to make people “get used to it”.

I remember an extremist liberal Hussein cultist speaking to me when I expressed outrage the day after his god signed the healthcare bill into law: “You’ll get used to it.”

They really DO want to make perversion SO ubiquitous that we aren’t sickened by it anymore.

It means equal rights for Domestic Partners to have military housing, living next to families.

It means having their domestic Partners participate inmilitary social functions as equals.

It means a new industry opening up for Lawyers.

I didn’t know the founding fathers’s values were open homosexuality....

Webb was hot for queers in the military all along. He just needed an excuse. I don`t buy his rationale.

NAIL ON HEAD.

If a fight breaks out and trust me we fought all the time and then had a drink after then you know these homosexuals will say that they were hit because of their stance about homosexuals.

Lawsuits galore now.
Wit till the homosexual party happens on base or the two men start kissing on base or start walking around on base holding hands.

I have asked and asked how does this help the military and not one person can say how it does but there are over hundreds of cons to this bill

“I just don’t think that just because someone is gay, they can’t be the best damn soldier in the world. They can be proud Americans, and they can (and do) fight for my freedoms, just as the straight soldiers do now.”

Probably they can be. The question is whether they flaunt it in public. DADT is about being fabulous and homo and a soldier all at the same time and in public.

This is about creating a whole generation of homosexual role models for boys and girls and a whole generation of generals who will be radical leftists. About uniformed soldiers showing up to elementary schools for “meet a soldier” day and telling everyone about how they are homosexual.

In addition, they will be preferentially promoted because of all the whining we will hear over the next 30 years about the subject so the leaders will be top heavy with homos. That’s what happened to the American Catholic church (many seminaries were graduating mostly gays). They got power and then promoted their buds. Look at the results.

No. The United States is not the military. They want to destroy the military to end our ability to project power in the world, but the endgame is the destruction of the United States itself. I’m sure they’d like us to balkanize into a half-dozen nations, constantly bickering over small issues so that the “old” nations such as France, Germany, and China can get their rigthful place in the world back.

Everything is a tool to achieve that end and they can’t win as long as we hold on to our American values. Once we abandon those, their victory is assured.

Normally, with the average person, you might be right..... but I base my 'miff level' on research. I went on a fact hunt. It turns out 22 of 26 NATO members have gays openly serving, and of those, there has been no noticable degradation in effectiveness.

That's why I'm only miffed.

. I think adultery and divorce are much graver sins, as they tend to harm many more people than something two adults may or may not do in the privacy of their own homes.

Neither adultery are divorce are resulting in people dying 20 to 30 years younger than normal people. They haven't resulted in 20% of divorcees or adulterers contracting HIV in urban areas as homosexual males have. Neither adulterers or divorcees account for 65% of the cases of syphilis in the nation. Most adulterers and divorcees aren't the primary group hanging out at public restrooms and parks looking for orgies.

The Bible considers homosexuality a capital crime, vile and an abomination. Obviously, you don't take the sin as serious as God does so stop pretending to speak for God.
