Poll: 57 Percent View Palin Unfavorably
National Journal ^ | 12/14/10 | Jeremy P. Jacobs

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin continues to be a highly polarizing figure, with a whopping 57 percent viewing her unfavorably according to a new poll.

The Bloomberg survey, released Monday, also found that the negative feelings about Palin are particularly strong. A third -- 33 percent -- said they view Palin "very unfavorably." That's the same percentage that viewed her favorably cumulatively -- respondents who either viewed her "somewhat" or "very" favorably (!).

The survey results indicate that Palin faces a significant image problem as she decides to run for president.

Just look at how Pres. Obama's numbers compare. Obama scored a net negative job approval rating -- 48 percent said they disapprove of his performance as president while 47 percent approved, which is in line with other polls and shows the Bloomberg survey isn't a particularly good poll for the president. However, 52 percent view Obama favorably while 44 percent view him unfavorably.

More troubling for Palin is that it may be tough for her to change that perception. Only 10 percent are unsure of their opinion of her.

The hate for Palin is completely irrational and sustained only by the demand for her popularity.

Every hit piece is designed to diminish Palin’s following. Her detractors become increasingly frustrated by the fact the attraction to Palin is unaffected by the slander.

I still can’t figure out what people have against her..

Yeah you may not agree with her politics but hate her? That is some sort of mental problem...

Their problem is not mental; it is spiritual.

I was around for Reagan and Palin is Reagan in High Heels! But she is better looking, Reagan was not in his prime.

Palin is quicker in getting her words out than any politician in the last 50 years, this is a sign she says what she believes!

Finally, someone who tells the Truth!

Some people seems to think a woman can’t run this country, that’s another reason why she needs to be the first woman President!

She would do a lot to hurt the men having sex with men lifestyle,

Normal would be back in again!

That’s probably the biggest reason that the anti Palin freepers keeping spurring out all the same negatives Reagan lived with, yes, our token liberal democrat Trolls and with their sick lifestyle)!

“he Bloomberg poll was conducted Dec. 4 to 7, surveyed 1,000 U.S. adults and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent.”

“Adults”

Why does the media continue to have their panties in a wad about her if she’s not a threat?

That's a load of crap. Most people are sheep. My prediction is that should Palin build momentum towards primary victory, many of those cocksure people will jump on the bandwagon. At the moment it is more popular, conventional wisdom wise, to say they oppose her. That will change.

Well, to break things down a little as they stand now: her opinion poll favorability numbers are slightly over 20 and his approval ratings the low 40’s. So for Palin to beat Obama third party candidate would have to run. And it would have to be a perfect storm of the economy not recovering, Obama not rebounding in the polls and the Republicans picking Palin.

And even under that narrow scenario, if a spoiler like Bloomberg DID get in the race it would most likely take votes from the Republican and hand the White House back to Obama.Whether he asked for it or not. lol

She needs to focus on winning the same states as 2008 and flipping some states like FL, IN, CO, IA, NV, NM, OH and VA.

You forgot NC. With that, she could still lose one of the small ones like NV or NM.

The poll is utterly flawed.

Why?

The poll is following the 2008 Obama Turnout model, with Democrats about six to nine points ahead of Republicans, who are mired in the mid-twenties.

Remember when Common Tator was alive? He wrote us, again and again, that the MSM would weight polls to gain the headlines that they wanted to gain. These polls mean nothing. Poll accuracy doesn’t go up until the end of October in an election year. Period.

Best,

Chris

. . . third party . . . .

Third party candidate really worked when Ross perot
ran, did’t it? Gave us Clinton I, cigars and Clinton II.

No thanks.

Look, I’m not in favor of a third party movement (yet) but it’s preposterous to imagine that a movement that would bubble up from the tea party/Palin forces would in any way resemble or have an effect similar to Ross Perot’s run in 1992.

Quick, tell me one thing Ross Perot promised to do if elected.

Right. Perot attracted a base of voters who identified themselves as “independents” with no clue about what they wanted from government.

Palin/tea party would be as near to doctrinaire conservative as you’ve had since the 1976 Reagan write-in.

In short, imagining that Palin would just be Perot in drag...

Um. No.

” I still can’t figure out what people have against her..”

There are several things you folks cannot figure out. Reality is one of them ;-)
