Barack Obama loves to portray himself as a compassionate humanitarian.
Assuring justice and avoiding unnecessary punishment is such an obsession, he would have us believe, that he opposes detaining those participating in acts of war against the U.S. He even insisted on a civilian trial in New York for the man who confessed to masterminding the Sept. 11 attacks.
But Obama's compassion does have its limits.
There's one distinguished U.S. Army officer and physician who appears to be headed to prison soon.
He hasn't committed any crimes.
He has served his country honorably in foreign wars.
His reviews by superiors were all impeccable.
Yet, he is headed for a court-martial and a likely prison sentence and discharge because he wanted to ensure he was upholding the oath he took as a commissioned officer to support and defend the Constitution.
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin wanted to determine with certainty that the president who was ordering him deployed to another foreign war was actually constitutionally eligible to serve in office.

Great comparison! It breaks my heart to watch FReepers sit behind their computer screens and spout tuff rhetoric about taking back this country but when a brave soul stands as an example find every wimpy excuse in the book to slink back.
I fear this country will become part of the One World Government with little or no resistence.
Could you please ping the others. Now is the time to act and there are important phone numbers included in the article.
In the form of one lieutenant colonel?
Well....Our enemies now **KNOW** that our top military commanders are toadies. How can that be good for the nation's security?
If you want to equate mass murder with orders to report to your brigade commander's office then one has to question your sense of proportion.
It would be better if our enemies **KNOW** that our top military commanders do not uphold military law and discipline?
When was it ever good discipline to follow an illegal order?
Where is it good discipline to allow your soldiers to decide for themselves what orders they will obey and what they will not?
Hm?...That has a familiar sound to it. Where did I remember reading that? Nuremberg, maybe?
Ehren Watada refused orders to deploy to Iraq with his unit saying that the war in Iraq violated the Constitution and orders to report over there were illegal and left him open for war crime charges. Ten years earlier, Yoland Huet-Vaughn refused orders to report for deployment for Desert Storm for the same reasons - the war was unconstitutional and therefore orders to report for duty were illegal. I suppose that in your eyes these officers were acting in the best traditions of the military by refusing to obey illegal orders and that the military leaders were showing little regard for the Constitution by court martialing both their sorry asses?
And if you want to compare an order to report to your brigade commander's office with an order to commit mass murder then you're welcome to do so. But it's more than a little ridiculous.
When even the Marxist comedians are making fun of Obama’s birth certificate, then the man is FLUSHED! Big time!
It is a simple matter for a U.S. citizen to prove they are natural born citizens. Americans are not stupid. Obama could have made all this go away with a nod of his head.
Obama has already lost in the court of public opinion.
Perhaps.
When even the Marxist comedians are making fun of Obamas birth certificate, then the man is FLUSHED! Big time!
We can only hope.

He could have. But he didn't.
He will be convicted by the and he will appeal. He might win one of his appeals or he might not, but he bravely faced the risks. He is a hero.
The others you mentioned also likely knew the risks they made in opposing orders and faced the consequences.
As do we all.
The others you mentioned also likely knew the risks they made in opposing orders and faced the consequences.
And do you applaud them as well? And dismiss the court martials that convicted them of being Kangaroo Courts as well? Just curious.
The ironic thing is that I don't think he has broken any laws even though he isn't eligible.
Democrats don't play fast and loose with power because they covet it so much.
I am very concerned that at the end of WND post, there is a plea to donate toward the defense of LTC Lakin. I listened to a radio spot that was linked on Citizen Wells yesterday and Mr. Puckett (LTC Lakin’s attorney) said not to give any money toward his legal defense. He said that LTC Lakin will need money for his family and help in establishing a new life should the worst happen, that is, not only having to serve time and losing all benefits and his pension, but also losing his medical license.
I paraphrased the attorney. He is not giving up on LTC Lakin, but wanted people to know that the family will need financial help, not the defense.
