WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says FIFA made the "wrong decision" in awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar over the United States.

The U.S. Soccer Federation spent millions of dollars on its bid. Former President Bill Clinton was highly involved in the process and participated in the closing presentation.

"boring pussies"

Nope. And neither are the Tour de France cyclists who ride down narrow mountain roads at 60 miles-an-hour on half-inch tires. I suspect you have sexual identity issues.

I am really disappointed. My 240 piece Vuvuzula Orchestra has been rehearsing in anticipation of the World Cup. We've perfected "The Vuvuzula Waltz," the "Vuvuzula Cha-Cha-Cha," "Dancin' the Vuvuzula Disco." We are now working on "Vuvuzula Lullaby."

Our only concern besides money (send your nickles, dimes, quarters and tens as soon as you can) is what you call someone who plays a Vuvuzula. A Vuvuzulaist? A Vuvuzulaier? A Vuvuzula Honker. In the national polling, Vuvuzula Honker is winning.

It is entirely possible that the TSA security methods killed it off. Schadenfreude.

There is a small ski area in the mountains above Sochi, but it will take a lot of infrastructure improvements to get the area and access to it up to Olympic standards. I suppose an authoritarian regime like Czar Vlad's will spend whatever it takes to do that. Still, they better have lots of snowmaking equipment ready just in case.

And how much sense does it make to have the Olympics that close to a war zone and only a stone's throw from Chechen rebels???

I hear you about Vancouver. The X-games area was lower than the ski area and those people were skiing and boarding in slush at times.

An American game?

It may have not originated in the U.S.A. but millions of Americans play the game.

The problem is nobody here plays it particularly well.

98% of them under the age of 7.

Is this World Cup thing a youth tournament or a spectator event?

What a petulant little whiner.

So the US lost this bid. So what?

Do we have to whine every time.

You cannot imagine how milquetoasty this sounds all over the world.

and why should we care about an essentially third-world-euro game? not to mention that it’s exceedingly boring...

although Dallas putting the ball in their own net to give Colorado the MLS Championship 17 minutes into overtime was mildly entertaining

That tune looks about as exciting as a soccer game.

I bet that one bar rest is quite the thrill.

Not that anybody here in Dallas would have noticed.

I guess being spoiled by watching the EPL and La Liga, watching that game, I realized why I never bothered with the MLS, it's like watching rookie league baseball.

The steroid fueled offensive boom was definitely not good for baseball. Low scoring, tight games are actually more interesting if you know what to look for. The casual fan wouldmbe clueless, so baseball has that in common with soccer. I wtch both sports...some of the playoff games this year were fantastic, and who didn’t know about the brilliant US-Algeria game? Hell, it was a good year for hockey, too...gold medal games couldn’t be scripted to match intensity and intrigue we had last Feb.

That’s news to me as well. Okay so why did Russia pick Sochi to host the Winter Games?

They built one of them a few years ago by Giants Stadium in the NJ Meadowlands; the slope, and the accompanying mall, have yet to open (and probably never will). You can see the monstosity looming out of the marsh on Rte. 3 and the NJ Turnpike.
