TSA pat-downs prove it - Americans are whiners
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | November 23, 2010 | Debra J. Saunders

The latest controversy over Transportation Security Administration body scans and enhanced body pat-downs leaves no doubt: America truly is a nation of whiners.

A CBS News poll found that 81 percent of Americans support full-body airport scanning. That reasonable view is being drowned out by elements on the left and the right who love nothing better than to proclaim that they are victims.

Well, she might be a conservative, but she evidently doesn’t care much about personal freedoms and an encroaching Nanny State. It’s so easy to put down anyone who dares to challenge the status quo. Call ‘em whiners, you are stating that YOU have the upper moral hand.

Let’s turn the tables and call those who happily participate —’gropees’ or maybe ‘easy victims.’ Definitely it’s not the class of folks who fought the American Revolution.

I don’t have a problem with the scanners, but understand those who do. Especially when you consider there’s a good chance your nekkid profile will end up on the internet.

My problem is the pat-down. Trust me, I’m not letting another man touch my rear or my junk. The problem is that I keep hearing you won’t get a pat-down unless you opt out of the scanner. This would only be true if all airports had the scanners. They don’t.

The seatbelt argument works here, as mandating seatbelts saves far many more lives and costs far less than these lat downs.

How about the insurance companies not covering you in an accident if you were not wearing seat belts instead of the Government telling you what to do?

Just a thought.

Whiners no, demanding dignity and common sense, yes.

Can you imagine a business owner who had a problem with an employee marking up company property with a sharpie pen? He bans all sharpie pens in the workplace and has security search folks when they come to work. Next nail polish is used to deface the bathrooms. Then ball point pens are used to ruin contracts and files. All with the same result, a ban and search for these items. Meanwhile every honest hardworking employee knows who the culprit is and knows that the boss is well aware of who is doing this too. How do you think this would play out?

I think that they would march to the owners office and demand that the culprit be fired and these silly searches end or else we will all quit (think 2005 not 2010 where jobs are so precious). We can’t quit but we can all stop flying and tell the airlines why. DEAL WITH THE CULPRIT, not honest law abiding US citizens.

I don’t care what she is, she is WRONG. Rights are not determined by what people support or don’t support.

We know the government lies about almost everything so people are uncertain about radiation exposure with the full body scans.

And 81 percent of Americans do not support full-body groping. Feeling up men, women and kids and fondling women’s breasts is beyond reasonable.

How long after the holiday season will it be before the airlines atart squawking for bailouts because passenger traffic is down due to the TSA Scan and Grope policy?

To start with, I don’t trust the CBS poll.

Most people who support the Enhanced Grope Downs and “Dick Measuring” scanners haven’t been subjected to them or watched their 6 year old grand daughter be molested by a stranger with a badge.

This is nothing more than the TYRANNY of the majority over the minority, once again. The majority also favored slavery and opposed women’s sufferage at one time.

Yup. Government is good at doing those sorts of things. And when it fails, it grows bigger.

Conservatives can be wrong on issues too. They have that capacity and it is even more important when they are wrong to be the first to say so and attempt to correct them.

It’s also ironic for anyone in San Francisco to complain OTHERS are whining like victims. The whole damn city population of SF are victims one way or another.

How should I apply that information?

America truly is a nation of whiners.

The above is an example of the art of smearing. A patriotic person cencerned about violation of privacy rights and physical and emotional abuse is given a derogoraory label such as "whiner", suggesting something evil in order to silence them.

I was surprised over Thanksgiving by how many people just said "Search me! Scan me! Pat me down! I want to be safe! Whatever it takes, I support TSA!" I have crazy realtives on my side and on my wife's side.

The brainwashing has taken hold of a lot of people. The fact that this TSA Theater is not making us safe is totally lost on them. I believe that the government wants to train Americans to follow orders in a mindless fashion, and I believe that this goal has been largely achieved.

This is superceded by the Interstate Commerce Clause, because the clothes worn are products of interstate commerce; and the airport.airlines/airplanes are engaged in and facilitate interstate commerce.

I know this is so, because I just consulted Madam Speaker Pee-Lousy.
