"We must have missed where these two things were supported by conservatives."

The problem is that she throws out a few sound bites attacking Obama's position and people look no further than those sound bites to determine her position. If Romney came out with denunciations of the mandate in Obamacare, could we be certain that he is opposed to health care mandates when his record says otherwise? Sarah is clearly on record as supporting both the Law of the Sea Treaty as Governor of Alaska and the notion of Cap and Trade as a way to fight "climate change". She reaffirmed her support for the Law of the Sea Treaty on an Alaska radio show in 2009 and her support for carbon caps in the debate with Joe Biden. Despite her record, when it is pointed out that she supports such issues, people throw up sound bite attacks of the Cap and Trade bill. Those sound bites came in a climate where the bill is very unpopular with the general public. It is prudent to be wary of such proclamations when she has a record of support for these issues.

Ah, yes, a personal attack. The last refuge when one has no facts.

Do keep “vanity” posts to a minimum - Free Republic is primarily a place to discuss news, articles, and editorials. Vanity posts, creations of the poster him or herself, should meet a high standard of quality before one is even considered worthy of posting. Often a relevant current thread or general announcement, catch-all thread is a much better choice for a brief question or comment.

*ahem*

Your disruptions would have more meaning, if you were to actually state someone you support, rather than just whining.

Whaah.

You mean because I’m even more cynical... or more “optimistic”... lol

BTW, I’m going on record here that as of now I support Palin for President... I don’t think we have the luxury of waiting until the primaries... we have seen how the establishment uses that to their advantage and will once again saddle us with someone who is electable.

If we lose... we lose... I don’t think we will but I’m prepared for a second term of Obama with a stronger Tea Party controlled Republican majority in both houses of Congress than I am making another deal with the devil, a la Mitt Romney, Pawlenty or any other RINO the establishment throws at us.

I still like my paleo friends like EV but some of their criticisms get to the point of splitting “theological” purist hairs (since we’re still talking about this in terms of “worship”). Reagan wouldn’t have lived up to the standards we’re imposing today.

As far as “electability”, as a firm believer in the Sovereignty of God, my job is to pray, support and vote. God will decide who sits on this earthly “throne” we call the Presidency and His will can and will not be thwarted. If more of us had this kind of confidence in the providence of God (myself included), we would stop worrying about pollsters and pundits and not be afraid to be bold and courageous in our politics.

From http://www.rmcpac.com/ronald-reagan-stated-1975-raise-banner-bold-colors-not-pale-pastels

On March 1, 1975, in the wake of the disastrous post-Watergate election, Ronald Reagan stood before a disheartened Conservative Political Action Conference and proclaimed, “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.”

Then, as now, there was a din of voices from the media and from “moderate” Republicans calling on the Party to abandon its conservative principles.

Reagan’s Message

Here is what Ronald Reagan told the assembled delegates of CPAC that day:

“I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, “We must broaden the base of our party” - when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.

Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?

Let our banner proclaim our belief in a free market as the greatest provider for the people.

Let us explore ways to ward off socialism, not by increasing government’s coercive power, but by increasing participation by the people in the ownership of our industrial machine.

It is time to reassert our principles and raise them to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way.”

Five years later, Ronald Reagan was elected President of the United States.

President Palin,

Has a nice Ring to it!

It's great too, I can not Image anyone but Palin being called President February, 2013!

Show how hard all the hard work Sarah has done the last two years have paid off!

Actually sadly it is; you might want to catch up on the culture... we’re no longer in the 1950’s and no one’s kids are perfect.

Palin on record as for carbon credits:
“Q: Let me clear something up: Sen. McCain has said he supports caps on carbon emissions.

Sen. Obama has said he supports clean coal technology, which I don’t believe you’ve always supported. Do you support capping carbon emissions?
PALIN: I do. I do.”

Really, why did she issue an Executive order as Governor of Alaska in 2007 that created a sub panel on climate change and explicitly embraced such a scheme? In the Vice Presidential debate with Biden she reaffirmed her support for Carbon caps and lamented the fact that so many countries are allowed to produce and emit so much Carbon. Now that the Obama plan is highly unpopular, she is attacking it. The problem is that she is on record as supporting the premise of Carbon caps.

At first blush, I'm not sure just creating a sub panel (to study?) the climate change issue would have been unusual considering how hot a topic it was at the time. However, I would like to read the actual Executive order -- do you have a link to it?

Also, do you have a link to the VP debate with Biden? I would like to hear her own words.

Thanks in advance for any additional info/links.

Not a whine, merely pointing out your “cringing negativism.”

A personal attack in response to a question about an unwed mother being normal says volumes.

Or Allan West... I think instead, Bolton for VP as a placeholder... West as DefSec for four years and then he takes the VP slot in 2016... Bolton can move to State and finish the purge.

The VP candidate could NOT publicly contradict her running mate. Wrong? Yes. Necessary. Unfortunately, yes as well. She could not present a divided front in a presidential campaign. She is now free from those responsibilities.

This is Politics 101. Anyone who cannot acknowledge that and uses that as a purity test is not living in reality.
