Liberals resort to conspiracy theories to explain Obama's problems
Following two years of poor economic performance and electoral repudiation, liberalism is casting around for narratives to explain its failure - narratives that don't involve the admission of inadequacies in liberalism itself.
For some, the solution is to lay the blame on President Obama. He hasn't been liberal enough. He can't communicate. "I cannot recall a president," Robert Kuttner says in the Huffington Post, "who generated so much excitement as a candidate but who turned out to be such a political dud as a chief executive." Obama is "fast becoming more albatross than ally."
This is an ideological movement at its most cynical, attempting to throw overboard its once-revered leader to avoid the taint of his problems.
But there is an alternative narrative, developed by those who can't shake their reverence for Obama. If a president of this quality and insight has failed, it must be because his opponents are uniquely evil, coordinated and effective. The problem is not Obama but the ruthless conspiracy against him.
So Matt Yglesias warns the White House to be prepared for "deliberate economic sabotage" from the GOP - as though Chamber of Commerce SWAT teams, no doubt funded by foreigners, are preparing attacks on the electrical grid. Paul Krugman contends that "Republicans want the economy to stay weak as long as there's a Democrat in the White House." Steve Benen explains, "We're talking about a major political party . . . possibly undermining the strength of the country - on purpose, in public, without apology or shame - for no other reason than to give themselves a campaign advantage in 2012." Benen's posting was titled "None Dare Call it Sabotage."

I’d rather be a repiglican than a demonrat.
I’d rather be a FRiendly FReeper than a DEranged DUer...but that’s just me. ;)
Pray that someone exposes the dirt and pray for impeachment ASAP.
It’s the wreckers and counter-revolutionary cadres!
The leftists will be violent before they ever admit failure.
It has happened thousands of times throughout history.
Liberals are only defeated, temporarily, on the battlefield.
Or a Dumbocrap.
The problem is if the Dems see their 2012 re-election bids go down the toilet for both POTUS and Congress, they will throw BO out of office in 2011. Should this be attempted, the blacks will riot in the streets.
‘Moonbat’ is the ultimate designator. Even the liberals admit it’s peerless. The closest they have is ‘wingnut’, but it doesn’t pack the same wallop. Once you’ve called a leftist a moonbat, you’ve pretty much covered all the bases. I even caught a DU thread once where they were trying to come up with a word for us that carried the same pejorative impact, but they just couldn’t do it. Kind of nice to know, isn’t it?
The ‘Progressives’ are so amusing. For 70 years they’ve tried to implement central planning. Each time they try, they fail and it’s our fault it’s a catastrophe?
Ray Moley, FDR Braintrust, realized it would take the national guard to implement central planning. As long as we are a politically free society, even if it is a weak Republican party, we win.
Quite frankly, I've understood why anyone uses such childish terms like those, and Odumbo, Bammy, etc.
This behavior is expected by democrats over on DU, but why some folks here do it is beyond me.
In the end, all obama did was attempt to implement the liberal agenda to it's fullest. Judging by the current depression (as it will be revised when history is corrected), he succeeded.
This behavior is expected by democrats over on DU, but why some folks here do it is beyond me.
Yeah me too, with a few exceptions. Sometimes a name nails it, not often though.
“I cannot recall a president,” Robert Kuttner says in the Huffington Post, “who generated so much excitement as a candidate but who turned out to be such a political dud as a chief executive.”
Several years ago Pat Caddell, a Dem pollster, said his party had been taken over by a confederacy of gangsters. Now we have Kuttner calling out the incompetence of the Michelle/Barack Administration.
I fear for my Country that such scum can get elected.
This is exactly what the democRATS did in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.
Deliberately sabotaged the economy to drive millions of workers onto the public services rolls hoping that they would be democRAT voters in the next election cycle. Unfortunately for them if backfired.

“LOL”
This may be seen as ridiculous but it’s really quite sobering.
There are apparently a significant number of people who feel this way. Without too much wild eyed speculation on my part, this sounds like justification for a enforced elimination of political dissent.
If the people in power truly feel that their opposition are evil and are subversive and are engaged in an active campaign to damage the country, wouldn’t it be logical to stop them by whatever means necessary?
If the economy continues to tank as it easily could, and people start to experience genuine hardship and deprivation, you will hear calls for bloodshed against the force of evil conservatism that they believe is at fault.
Why do you think that there is such a call for gun control from the same segment? Rev 13:7 is why.
It’s the Christian’s who are thwarting the progressives at every turn. Killing off the Christian’s will be seen as the only way to save the country. It’s later than we think.
Forget the ridiculous and unbiblical Rapture doctrine, The Antichrist will kill off all Christians from the Earth and most people alive now will live until that time. Political maneuvering won’t stop it.
