Republican Renee Ellmers has unseated veteran Congressman Bob Etheridge, according to unofficial results of a recount in the tight race.
Etheridge, a seven-term Democrat, picked up six votes on Ellmers after voting results from 10 counties were tabulated a second time, but it was nowhere near enough to overcome her 1,489-vote lead following the Nov. 2 election.

Oh, that drunk punk.
The people in the crannies of NC-2 for whom the district was massively gerrymandered. FOlks in Garner and Fayetteville in particular (pull out a map: those towns are about 70 miles apart and not even at the farther ends of this district).
Finally we’re winning some of these close ones.
I can see Dems holding any kind of NC-1 so long as it starts in the northeast corner of the state. They can hold NC-13 in the far west (Shuler is building a dynasty and doing it quite intelligently). Other than that, there’s no reason R’s shouldn’t, as you suggest, sweep the resto of the NC districts if they were decently configured. This is not a Democrat state, necessarily, nor a Republican one. It is decidedly a conservative state with a heavy Democrat heritage. The two used to go together but now play against each other. People are doing their best to struggle through their cognitive dissonance to do the right thing.
don't know why I hadn't seen this before today, but I watched the youtube video just now.
HOW DARE HE is all I can say !!
And he wasn't brought up on assault charges ?? Well, as much as I dislike all the suing going on in this country, I hope those 2 guys take etheridge to the cleaners.
I loved her Alaska show he other night and her snarky mama grizzley comments.
I am waiting for him to demand a hand recount
Good news! This guy, Etheridge, is a real scumbag!
This is great news, but Ellmers needs to make herself VERY visible to her constituents for the next two years.
Remember, Etheridge lost in 94 only to get elected again in 96.
She needs to do something to court those voters who went with Etheridge.
That’s an impressive win. A gerrymandered seat based out of Wake County.
Helping to co-sponsor the repeals and enactments the Dems cannot allow to pass would be a good start. It will be tough to actually deliver much in the way of particular benefits, however.
What she really needs is for the state reps and sens to sensibly redraw the district lines so they don’t include parts of 10 counties from Vance to Cumberland and Wilson to Chatham.
See post #28. Wake County is actually only a small part of the district.
I am sure she is!! :D
BWAHAHAHA!!!
Looks like a damn good time to headbutt that dickhead.Drop him like a bad habit.
That was so much fun I almost called his Washington office too. Maybe later. ;)
Etheridge deserved to go... He forgot he's suppose to kiss the baby not hit it...
among other things like voting yes on obambicare, cap n tax, etc.
Being drunk, arrogant and a screwdriver in Nanzi’s toolbox is no way to go thru life, ‘Who are you’ Bob. :D
You should contribute to the redistricting chat. It’s interesting to see the extent that the GOP can (or will) redistrict North Carolina. I’m hoping that at least a few slugs will leave and be replaced by Americans.
