Republican Renee Ellmers has unseated veteran Congressman Bob Etheridge, according to unofficial results of a recount in the tight race.
Etheridge, a seven-term Democrat, picked up six votes on Ellmers after voting results from 10 counties were tabulated a second time, but it was nowhere near enough to overcome her 1,489-vote lead following the Nov. 2 election.

The #1 mama grizzly Sarah Palin put Ellmers over the top with her late endorsement.
Up to that time, it had been a Lean Democrat race by most pundits.

That was the opener but he made a real run. She won in the end with great ground-organization in a terribly-gerrymandered district. Now that NC has a fully R-run state government, maybe NC-2 can be configured in a way that resembles something contiguous.

You’d have to live around NC-2 to know exactly how furious people are here with the powers that were. I really commend Sarah for putting her oar in. That really helped!

How does a drunken heap of monkey spunk like Etheridge win seven times in a generally Red State like NC?

Renee Elmers should be able to contribute significantly and positively to health care related issues.
Repealing Obambi-care and replacing it with real free market reforms is going to be a challenge. She should have policy savoy in this area.
Her pro-life stand is worthy of admiration and respect.
To: TribalPrincess2U
They sure do. But it seems the temptation is monumental. Etheridge used to authentically be a moderate Democrat, rating somewhere in the low 40’s by the ACU. The last two years he rated less than 5. Last year he got a zero. The man changed. The people noticed. Now, he needs a new job.
Guess he now understands how the rest of us feel, yes?

The NRCC said Renee and her campaign “weren't ready for prime time” and gave her minimal support. The GOP establishment distanced itself from Renee when she ran a campaign ad criticizing the Ground Zero Mosque. She won Sarah Palin’s endorsement.
The establishment-backed North Carolina Republican Congressional challengers all lost but Renee won because, as Sarah would say, she “fought like a girl.”
