SAN DIEGO — John Tyner won't be pheasant hunting in South Dakota with his father-in-law any time soon.

Tyner was simultaneously thrown out of San Diego International Airport on Saturday morning for refusing to submit to a security check and threatened with a civil suit and $10,000 fine if he left.

And he got the whole thing on his cell phone. Well, the audio at least.

The 31-year-old Oceanside software programmer was supposed to leave from Lindbergh Field on Saturday morning and until a TSA agent directed him toward one of the recently installed full-body scanners, Tyner seemed to be on his way.

Rebel without a clue.

So you believe that the TSA's security-theater and the billion dollar radiation machines/doses keep you safe?

Ever heard of a shoulder-fired missile?

The funniest thing about that photo is that I recognize the guy. He was a pre-9/11 security guy at the airport in Burington Vermont.

“Wanna bet? I’ll give you 10-1 that I can board my next flight with a dozen of them if I so desire.”

Oh I’d bet you can certainly get them on the plane.

However you are not going to hijack the plane with them. You may hurt someone but you will get your butt kicked by other passengers.

hypothetically of course

airport security rebels

Actually, they are paying customers, and have every right to object...verbally and with their money by not flying.

That’s the thing that bugs me about this. We know that terrorists will implant breast implants with explosives. And the butt-bombs. Heck, any gal who goes through the screening machine with a tampon in could actually be a terrorist. They gonna make her take it out so they can do a chemical check on it? Any guy with an erection could be stopped as a terrorist in the pat-down. They gonna make him drop his pants so they can see? That’s the level of scrutiny we would have to have in order for this to actually be effective. ARe they gonna do that kind of security to Muslim women in hijabs?

There’s always a way for devices to get through. Looking for devices is not the way to stop this. Looking for TERRORISTS is the way to stop it.

I’ve had enough babies that I don’t care who sees me as long as they keep it to themselves. Being touched would be another thing. But the whole thing stinks because it shows that Homeland Security is clueless. Absolutely clueless. And that means that an attack is eventually going to be successful.

I also see the Muzzies trying to sue normal vigilant citizens for reporting suspicious behavior, such as with the “flying imams” and how the media plays up to that back-door legal route for gagging and handcuffing people from the only form of security that actually works: common-sense vigilance. We have to profile according to identities and behaviors like the Israelis do. It’s the only common-sense defense we have. It worked to stop the Millenium Plot.

These devices cannot ‘see’ through skin. Therefor they cannot detect anything inside a person.

I’m glad the guy stuck up for himself. I don’t want any of those TSA weirdos feeling me up either. This is so ridiculous. They are checking up the wrong people. The article even said they let a lot of people go through with a simple pat down.

There is no common sense any more.

Why do I keep getting a mental picture of Janet Napalitano getting her jollies in a perv sort of way, from these sorts of incidents?

Nobody is going to hijack another plane with a boxcutter

Agreed. But it sure seems like we are going to allow underwear bombers on to the airplanes if we continue to prohibit pat downs. That said, I don't know where the balance is.

That wasn't what I was responding to, and you know it. I'd almost rather let the passengers and crew be responsible for the security on their own flight, giving them whatever exemptions from the law as the TSA folks are now being given.

Dang I hate posting something that could be construed as a defense of qwertypie (IBTZ, BTW), but I think you confused 911 “truthers” who think GW took down the Towers on 911 with “birthers” who legitimately wonder “why Zero has spent over $2 million to prevent disclosure of the original, long form, vault copy of his BC?”

Every single one of those guys had been brought to the attention of the FBI before their incident. Perhaps we should start looking at muslims from Yemen a little more carefully before strip searching grandpa from Iowa.

“By buying your ticket you gave up a lot of rights,” countered the TSA supervisor.

The encounter on video raises a couple of immediate issues:

1) What is the basis of the civil suit? Note it's not criminal. What are the damages?

2) Ok so I understand the ticket may have terms and conditions that I am agreeing to. However, I CANNOT WAIVE RIGHTS FOR MY CHILD. I CANNOT SAY TO SOMEONE, YOU CAN MOLEST MY CHILD IF...

There are no circumstances, short of criminal arrest by a law enforcement official or medical care, where someone can lawfully touch my kids' genitals.

My feeling is that would need to be enacted as law in order to supercede sexual molestation laws. Some lawyer out there must know.

I know how to do these things. But I don't put it out for all to see on the internet.
