The magical thinking here, BTW, is that candidates that every poll showed couldn’t win somehow were going to win simply by virtue of the Tea Party believing they would because of Tea Party support alone.

It's a straw man argument. Palin has been elected. She is gifted speaker and drawn massive crowds nationwide as part of Presidential campaign.

She doesn't compare to rookie politicians like Angle and Buck, who made a lot of mistakes.

But they must win Colorado and Nevada. Both of these states are beyond Palin’s reach.

You're out of your mind. Palin is infinitely a more seasoned politician than Buck and Angle, both who were leading in the polls going into election day and both of which where not given sufficient support by the national Republican party.

The Republican Machine in Alaska struck back and defeated Palin... Twice.

What? She won her only election in Alaska. She didn't lose the governorship after being elected.

Palin would have kicked Murkowski's ass.

She took REAL RISKS. She put herself on the line for the cause

Excellent point and well said! Along with that it demonstrates something important; in that, she is not in it for herself. Like all politicians with their hand in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. It's all about them, their 'appearance of being right' and not about our country.

I wonder if she could even carry her home state in a presidential election.

If there was a reason to discount every opinion you have, this is it.

What RINO Presidential candidate do you want to stick conservatives with in 2012?

Then Bobby Jindal is your man. And unlike Palin, he could vanquish 0bama.

Sadly, Jindal has all the charisma of a lamp shade. That is a problem.

Well said also.......

I for one will never ever vote for a RINO of any sort.

I did not vote for McCain, I did vote for Perot, and I would vote for Palin. I do not see anyone much else worth voting for unless you consider this guy.

The ones who lost were the more polarizing candidates who could not expand their appeal beyond the Tea Parties: Sharron Angle, Christine O’Donnell, Ken Buck, Joe Miller.

Of course, that ignores the many Tea Party candidates that won in the House...

You're like the liberal media, pushing propaganda here.

We should have learned from Sharron Angle, Christine O’Donnell, Joe Miller, and Ken Buck that magical thinking doesn’t win elections.

Good post.

Sarah P. seems like nice enough person. But this half-term governor of a very small (population) state isn't leader-of-the-free-world material in many people's book.

The Obama White House will be popping champagne corks the day she gets the GOP nomination.

Huckabee is worse than Obama.

Huckabee was a socialist as Arkansas Governor.

Huckabee did EVERYTHING it could for illegals. Even Obama hasn't tried Amnesty.

This fake, this monstrosity Huckabee is not a man of God as it professes to be. It is lying , saying it is a conservative. It's record proves otherwise.

Palin is the only thing Keeping this piece of excrement Huckabee from being president.

If Palin doesn't run the liberal mainstream media would pick Huckabee as the Republican nominee as they did McCain.

Huckabee would give Amnesty to illegals ,do worse things than Obama , and give the democrats/socialists a permanent super majority.

Palin is our only hope. Huckabee is already in New Hampshire and most Republicans don't know this Hukster’s record and believe what it's lying mouth says.

Huckabee is worse than anyone even worse than Obama.

Huckabee was a socialist as Arkansas Governor.

http://cofcc.org/2007/10/conservative-huckabee

Was Mike Huckabee “just like Bill Clinton?” Maybe, but some would actually say he was to the left of Bill Clinton. As Governor of Arkansas, Huckabee’s tax and spend record greatly exceeded former AR Gov. Bill Clinton. He even wanted to tax the internet.

Mike Huckabee is to the left of even Sam Brownback and John McCain on immigration. He claimed God wants us to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. As Governor of Arkansas he advocated letting illegal aliens vote.

. As Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee passed a law that added major restrictions to the Arakansas Homeschool Rights Act passed by Bill Clinton, making Arkansas one of the most hostile state to homeschoolers outside of the Northeast. Homeschoolers in Arkansas had more rights when Clinton left office than when Huckabee left office.

Huckabee did EVERYTHING it could for illegals. Even Obama hasn't tried Amnesty.

Huckabee is worse than anyone even worse than Obama.

That is ridiculous. Huckabee cut taxes when he first became governor, favors a flat-tax, is conservative on social issues and could be trusted to nominate justices to the Supreme Court. Obama has never been anything about 100% Marxist.

All that being said, I am not endorsing Huckabee nor do I think he will be the Republican nominee nor will Willard Romney, whose record in Massachusetts was as liberal as Obama's in Illinois.

A strong field of candidates will emerge and Huckabee and Romney will be the also-rans they would be any primary with top-flight candidates in it.

Your Huckabee was the keynote speaker at the NEA.

Your Huckabee wanted illegals to vote.

Your Huckabee was to the left of Bill Clinton who tried to impose government healthcare on America.

Your Huckabee was to the left of McCain on immigration.

The proof is at this link.
http://cofcc.org/2007/10/conservative-huckabee/

This is just a few things this Huckabee, this fake , this false prophet, this socialist piece of scum has done.

Now Huckabee says it's a conservative, a man of God. Well it is lying as it's words are the opposite of what it did as Governor of Arkansas.

Palin is much better than Huckabee. do you agree? Heck, Obama is better than Huckabee.

Palin is an awesome constitutional conservative who I would be proud to vote for.

Obama wants amnesty for illegals.

Socialists don't cut taxes as extensive as Huckabee did in his first term as governor. Many of his tax increases were forced upon him by the Arkansas Supreme Court, which mandated expenditures for public schools.

Again, I am not claiming Huckabee isn't a disaster on illegal immigration. But, he IS conservative on some issues and would govern as a conservative with a Republican congress.

But, Huckabee is not going to be the nominee. Nor is Romney. There are going to be a plethora of quality candidates to chose from, ones perhaps even stronger than Palin.

Stop panicking.

And you can't figure out why that is?
You can't figure out why Tea Party candidates did so well in the House, where they are elected in lopsided districts, but can't win a statewide vote, except for very conservative states like Kentucky and Utah, where the winner is decided in the Republican primary, not the general election?
Would Sarah Palin be running on a statewide ballot for President, or just in overwhelmingly conservative districts?

No Huckabee is no conservative

The issue was, is he more conservative than Obama. And, he is. To suggest otherwise is absurd.

Has Obama ever supported these sort of tax cuts?

Huckabee won plaudits from conservatives by pushing a $90 million tax cut package through the Arkansas legislature in 1997, soon after he became governor. Largely on the strength of that tax cut, the Cato Institute awarded Huckabee a B rating in 1998, listing him as one of the country's "top ten tax cutters."

Huckabee had nearly perfect record on pro-life, marriage/family and guns in Arkansas, making him far conservative than Obama.

The issue isn't whether he is conservative or not. He isn't on many issues. The issue is whether he is more conservative than Obama and obviously is.
