New House Judiciary Chairman to Obama: Prepare for Investigations
Veteran Congressman will head influential House Judiciary Committee
By Jim Forsyth
Thursday, November 4, 2010

The San Antonio Congressman who is in line to become chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee is promising 'a number of investigations and oversight committee actions' which he vows will 'hold the administration accountable,’ 1200 WOAI news reports.

Veteran Republican Lamar Smith, a Yale graduate and social conservative who grew up in the brush country of south Texas which is now transit point for illegal immigrants and drugs, said in a news conference that a number of issues will come into the sights of his committee when he takes the chairmanship in January, from cracking down on child pornography to taking the Obama Administration to task for failing to do enough to protect the southern border.

Smith says it is his Constitutional duty.

"Part of that checks and balances is in fact holding the administration accountable, is in fact insisting on more transparency, is insisting on more honesty, and getting the facts," Smith said. "Right now, because of the one party monopoly, the Administration has been able to dodge any kind of supervision, any kind of oversight committee action, and they refuse to testify, and that is no longer acceptable."

We better annihilate obamacare first or the sick among us will be the dead. Seriously.

Can't they do both at the same time?

Humpf. Caddell was my guess.

Lets see, Depending on whether or not the insiders candidate won and is now on their transition team.... we should get some more juicy tidbits in the next couple days. Not sure that anything else will happen this week, the insider has been pretty clear he/she/it wants this stuff seen. That means not buried in a friday news dump.

If the republicans start a bunch of investigations into the administration they will appear just as petty and vindictive as the democrats did when they started trying to paralyze W with all their investigations and hearings and idiotic accusations of everything from “war crimes” to “outing a covert CIA operative”, etc. Of course, the bright side of all the democrat Kangaroo Court nonsense was that it limited the legislative damage that they could have been pursuing.

Investigations will go nowhere, the press will cry racism, obama will play the victim card, and the house will lose the momentum of its mandate to drive the agenda to change course.

Also, they need to appoint speical prosecutors to dive into a lot of this politican/bank/corporation corruption mess. It might take some Rinos out, too.

The public is very angry that no one has been prosecuted or even fired for the economic crimes that have occured.

No the PUBLIC is not that concerned about prosecutions and firings or investigations. The PUBLIC wants the agenda halted. Wasting time pursuing a bunch of investigations prevents the new GOP majority house from enacting spending cuts and tax cuts and doing the job they were elected to do.

You assume they can not walk and chew gum at the same time like they afterbirthers. It is the majority’s constitutional duty to do oversight AT THE SAME TIME they govern.

I agree, and this voter wants them investigated. I know other voters that want them investigated as well. They just need to pick and choose their battles. Go after the worst offenses first, while also governing.

ok, I could live with that but....

Birth Cert
College transcripts and Passports

There is simply no reason for him not to provide this to the American people to clear the air. Congress can and should force this issue.

No, I RECOGNIZE that if they allow a bunch of investigations to distract attention from focusing on reversing the damage that the previous congress and the obama administration have inflicted on our country momentum will be lost. Launching a bunch of investigations into the obama administration will give the enemies of the Constitution more ammo to damage the conservative movement than it could possibly benefit our cause.

Notice the links to Creamer in this posted data. Remember that conversation we had regarding whom was writing the healthcare stinker, and whom wrote the Stimulus graft and where perhaps billions would disappear to?

The men in the gop need some backbone. When the most outspoken conservatives are women we have a problem because our women aren’t in the top levels of leadership. I’m sick of the ‘let’s make a deal’ attitude that many of our leadership have had. I hope the great 0 goes down for all he’s done.

Oh yes, and public opinion is definitely in their favor.
