I could not agree more.
Most everything I’ve ever heard from Rove is not about Republican/Conservative ideology, but about winning.
I don’t know Rove’s true beliefs, but I do believe he is motivated primarily by his drive to win.
He believed that O’Donnell couldn’t/wouldn’t win. I would have voted for her, but I also agreed with him.
Voting for O’Donnell in the primary may have won a battle, but it lost a war. (in a metaphorical sense)
I do nor disagree with this article, but someone should also be called to task for coming up with her first major TV ad, “I am not a witch”. Compare this to the way way Rand Paul handled his similar situation.
Do you really believe Rove has that much influence? You don’t think people can look at a candidate and make up their own minds? O’Donnell wasn’t a good candidate. Simple as that.
I also agree...I remember so many FReepers repeating the term,
“Rove, you magnificent bastard”...
I never bought it, but he is certainly the BASTARD now, but nothing magnificent for our side.
Its clear President Bush won by those incredibly narrow margins in spite of Karl Rove and his juvenile white ink pad and 4th grade mathematical alleged wizardry! Now its clear that Karl Rove was to being the Lead Political Strategist for President Bush as was Scott McCllellan the Lead Press Secretary, both two thoroughly Incompitent Nitwits thay President Bush felt sorry for and was bound to by some strange Loyalty! Darth Vader would have vaporized both to Siberia in two nanoseconds! For You’al in Rio Linda,
thats a respectful reference to a truly great Leader, Dick Cheney!
Do we all have a better understanding of RNC Chair,Michael Steele’s struggles; trying to deal with the established GOP and the up & coming TEA movement candidates?
Upon reflection - he was herding cats AND chickens in a basement.
Free at last!!!!!
It has to stop.
Let’s be real....Castle had a better chance for the seat.
Politics is a science and Rove is a numbers guy. No matter how they shook and stirred them up, Castle was their best opportunity to snag the seat. If I lived in DE I would have voted for Christine, or Castle or any Republican because of the symbolic importance of winning the seat that Biden held.
Imagine winning Obama’s, Biden’s and Byrd’s seat after taking Kennedy’s.. That right there would have been reason to go on a celebration bender.
We might have to learn the hard way that just because we the ideological, involved and strongly opinionated part of the electorate want something, does not make it so. In the end, we need to vote for the most conservative candidate that can win. The next election is too important to impale ourselves on ideological purity. That’s just the reality of it.
That the Democrats are able to successfully field candidates far less appealing and/or able than COD is, if nothing else, an indicator that she is not far off in remarking about "Republican cannibalism." At this point, however, Christine simply needs to step back and let people like Rove wallow in their own crapulence. Time heals all wounds and wounds all heels.
Mr. niteowl77
I blame having a crappy nominee. Rove just had the audacity to point it out.
Get over it.
It was WRONG for Rove to attack the WINNER
of the primary. Period.
There is NO other interpretation.
It was HIS immoral backstabbing that outed him
for exactly who he is and for whom he worked
this GOP and TParty loss.
The primary victory of Christine O'Donnell should have started an avalanche of support for Christine, starting with Castle and Rove. Castle's sore loser behavior and Rove's insults demonstrated a lack of integrity and hypocrisy of the Republican leadership. If you agree to rules and hold primaries you should respect the results. Otherwise the Republicans are no better than the evil Democrats.
The Alaska Senator race had similar lack of integrity by Lisa Murkowski. The Republican Party needs to repent also. I find their behavior disgusting and disappointing.
I could not agree less.
For CR’s blunder Rush should withdraw his ‘architect’ moniker.
Rove is single-handedly responsible for the Republicans’ failure to win control of the Senate, and he must be called to account for it.
This is really the biggest story of this election: how Rove played the Useful Idiot role, and was a complete tool of the Democrats.
As Ann Coulter has said, they don’t call the Republicans “The Stupid Party” for nothing.
Tokyo Rove sunk O’Donnell, plain and simple! In one fell swoop, I lost nearly all respect for Tokyo Rove!
Christine O’Donnell may have been too young, too naive, carried too much baggage from her youth etc., etc.,
Christine O’Donnell also showed courage by running for election at the risk of humiliation.
How many of her critics have demonstrated such boldness to run for election rather than just running their mouths and typing policies, principles and puffery on a blog?
I don’t think Meg could possibly have won in California. She painted *herself* as Ah-nald II
Given the choice between a true Democrat and a RINO people will vote for the Democrat most of the time.
