Republican Marco Rubio now enjoys a 20-point advantage over Independent candidate Charlie Crist in the U.S. Senate race in Florida, with Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek still running third.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Sunshine State finds Rubio picking up 50% of the vote, while Crist, Florida's current GOP governor, receives 30% support. Meek picks up 16% support, his worst showing since early July. One percent (1%) prefers some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are still undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

This race remains Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings. Earlier last week, Rubio held a 43% to 32% lead over Crist, with Meek earning 20% support.

Charlie Crisp? As in "He is Toast." Ha! He used to be known as "Chain Gang Charlie" back when his campaigns were based upon locking up inmates & throwing away the key. Now, he is morphed all the way left and is a playing with clinton/Obama. Meanwhile the Florida voters have a choice between a true DemonRat, a morphed Obama buddy or a Bushie Baby. It is going to be another stinky election in Florida. Oh yes, the Governor's race is between a DemonRat and a Repo, who was CEO of the company that was caught defrauding Medicare for 1.5 Billion Dollars.

Looks like his ploy to get Meek to drop out backfired badly for him. Too bad for him, good riddance!

Do we really know that MurCOWski is in the hunt???

I do not know that? I think the more likely outcome is that Joe Miller wins quite handily, but I am certainly open to correction.

it’s ALL about Charlie

So true! Crist revealed himself to be completely devoid of any moral or philosophical grounding. He's all about leaning in whatever direction will get him that extra political point. He's completely worthless.

Concur. Or Crisp could have easily backpeddled and said that the issues affecting FL (oil spill, jobs etc) were so important that he was seeking a 2nd term as governor.

He could have thrown McCollum under the bus and gotten away with it, because he would have been a lock for re-election.

Funny. The Gay Blade even got married for the election. What a stinkin Skunk. Now he admits he would join the Crats if elected.

Some Floridian conservative should put together a list of Christ supporters on a web site and keep it up through the next few election cycles. It’s time to shine the spotlight on these fools, and keep shining it. Same thing for Murkowski supporters in AK.

Rubio is going to win big.

The next big race is the FL governorship. Obama desperately needs Alex Sink to win for his 2012 re-election; we have to prevent this. The Meek-Crisp flap may increase back turnout for Meek, thus giving Sink a lift. Or it could disgust so many RATS that they stay home, thus helping Rick Scott.

Any FL opinions out there?

I wish McCollum had been the GOP nominee; much less baggage than Scott. We nominated the wrong guy.

Other than bagging Boxer, this would be the sweetest win in the Senate.
