Late 30’s Depression era and WWII when my Mother was growing up. Poor wouldn't describe how my Mother and her Family lived, squalor is the only description.

My Mother said they got the margarine and you had to stir in the yellow coloring to make it look appetizing. Of course, that was the same time she had to go out with a bucket to get Milk for the other five siblings and her Mother. Her Dad left the Family when times got too rough.

The big treat was having bread so they could make Mayonnaise Sandwiches. I did grow up eating those, but no Margarine.

Just sent a prayer. Last year at this time, we were moving out of the shop that had just attained it’s 45th year. My associate found a job; I’m still looking. Start looking now, if you haven’t already.

Note of course that the downslopes are more or less coincident with expansion cycles and the upslopes with recession.

“The people with degrees could also be good prospects for promotions to the next level.”

This could work against someone. With hiring done by middle management HR people, do those HR people really want to hire someone with vast more skills than they have? Especially with job uncertainty?

I hear these stories and think that the reason highly qualified / experienced people don’t get hired is just for that reason. The hirer is afraid that the new hiree will eventually take his / her job, or make him / her look bad. Especially when it comes to low skilled jobs. A college kid running an auto parts store is NOT going to want to hire an MBA as a clerk. How long until that clerk has the college kids job?

I don’t pay a lot of attention to unemployment figures outside of PA where the official rate is around 9 percent, a little lower in my part of the state.

But the Midwest is where its worse with Michigan in double digit territory officially and so is Nevada at just over 14 percent according to the government.

I saw a moving van in my area from Saginaw, Michigan the other week. Someone getting away from their economic disaster just like people in the Dust Bowl did in the 1930’s.

There’s a big switch towards Republicans in the Midwest states according to the polls.

Virtually all the welding jobs, and concrete forming and most of the other "menial" or unskilled jobs are being done by illegal aliens doing the jobs that "Americans won't do".

One solution, partial at least, is put a million people to temporary positions ferreting out the illegals, send their butts back to where they came from, and that'll create at least ten million jobs.

Beyond that, the highly skilled and recent grads would be advised to make their own jobs, ala entrepreneurship or as independent contractors or tradesmen.

Not one mention of Democrats, Obama or the failed Stimulus Plan anywhere in the story.

Like I posted earlier. if they could attach a Republican to anything in the story, they would have.

Thinking otherwise is delusional. Alinsky is their hero and they will never let his memory fade away.

My private employer is now modifying their 401K to reduce company contibutions.

Pension-401 K takeover by the feds is a possibility at some point.

That’s what the socialist president of Argentina did in that country.

The MSM is losing audience because they have become little more than leftist propaganda outlets, and the people have many alternatives to them now. Even they have to read the writing on the wall at some point, or become totally irrelevant to most everyone.

Good point - actually - all your points were good...

In Australia the Labor party cut Kevin Rudd loose as PM when he became a liability for pushing an energy tax.

Julia Guillard was installed and she just barely won the general election there.

The Hillary coup is very distinct possibility because the alternative would be a Republican president in 2012.

Watch out for her minions in the media and beyond from Stephanopoulos to Couric to Richard Scaife and Newsmax, plus Rupert Murdoch not to mention Dick Morris?????

Frankly, it looks like the Left pumped up the Obama balloon to push Hillarycare as Obamacare, now they are popping it.

Was Obama just a tool to do Hillary’s dirty work so she can be installed afterwards????????

401k confiscation is coming.

That's simply not true. Confiscating 401k's would vaporize the stock market. Exactly how would the government make up for the equity destruction of all those stock funds being replaced by "retirement" bonds?

Will never happen.

If the Democrats get the drubbing that's expected on Nov. 2, you can bet there will be a lot of secret meetings with party bigwigs and the Clintons. A strategy will have to be developed which gets Obama out of the way for 2012 but doesn't alienate minorities, who still view Obama as the Messiah.

They can't allow Obama to run in 2012. He will lose badly and take the rest of the party down with him.

Randita, I believe you just deconstructed the mystery behind this 60 Minutes report. I don't know why I didn't see it right away.

I think you're absolutely correct. The movers and shakers behind the scenes have seen Obama's handwriting on the wall, and they don't like it one bit. They gave The Lightworker a chance, and he's burning their carefully constructed house of cards to the ground.

They will not let him drag them all down with him, so they're about to unleash the dogs of hell on him. I'm sure that this is abundantly clear in the White House tonight.

It now becomes even clearer why so many of Obama's key team members have already bailed on him. They saw this coming.

It really was a powerful piece. I only had the television on due to a potential tornado situation, but I got pulled into the program. One guy had a $200k job in human resources, but he hasn’t worked for something like two years. One administrative assistant got up early to go through her neighborhood dumpters “before the homeless guy got there.” (They didn’t give the homeless guy a chance to respond, of course!)

While boomers like myself are impacted (part-time for the first time in my life) it is the generation coming out of school that is simply being leveled. Law school graduates are substitute teachers. Young engineers close to taking their license exams are being laid off. Rush had a statistic that I could not believe until I looked it up: 85 percent of college seniors surveyed planned to move back in with their parents.

Couple this with the financial collapse and the potential for a spike in energy and food costs, and we may have the Great Depression and change.

I am sick of Newt being a spokesman for the Conservative movement. He is a Warmer and a faux-Conservative. He like Rove have shown their true cards in the last 12 months...frauds.

Now tell me why every Pubbie running for Congress has not used that map to show how far we have “progressed” since the Dims took control of Congress. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!

....it’s NOT because they want to change the country back or help conservatives or help the Tea party.

I cringe to contemplate what they will show on the Sunday before the election.

Sadly this story was on the people who already worked for a living...in their 40s, 50s, 60s. You are correct...it was the low IQ, greedy, short attention span, instant gratification, blame Bush crowd that got him in....along with Madison Avenue, Soros, and Viacom.
