For Want of a Nail

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail!

Stock up on horseshoe nails; our future depends upon it! Besides, we can always melt them down for bullets... :)

I’m voting for you! I’m voting for you! Well, said. Now is the time to stand up! Slash the spending! No new regs (& cut a lot — especially state & local which doesn’t allow people to make do with what they have — this is not the time to not let people hang their clothes on a clothesline to dry nor grow their own food in the front yard).

"In 2008, 50% of the people polled thought the GOP still ran the Congress."

And, statistically speaking, that is rock-bottom ignorance which could have been matched by rats in a maze.....literally.

.....A successful result of the combined efforts of the schools and the mainstream press to make Americans as stupid as possible.

And the audience of the John Stewart Show acutally scored a 54% wrong. That's 4 points below the Chimpanzee level.

Contrast the mess today to the way things were in 2006. The media pounded it into us every day that we should all be miserable and angry at BUSH for the high cost of gas. When gas prices went down as the election got closer the “news” media actually gave a lot of credence to the lefties who said this was all a big conspiracy by Bush to help his party in the midterms. Now of course they will take great pains to be sure the White House is not blamed.

“nobama = the Destroyer & Reverse Midas”

At my house we refer to zero as “King Sadim” (Midas spelled backward). He is King Midas evil twin brother. Everything he touches turns to $#!+....red

See, I learned this as nail soup.

My dear sainted mother taught me how to make nail soup.

You have a nail and a pot.
You get water and put the nail in.
Start a fire outside and put the pot on the fire.
And someone comes along, curious about what you’ve got going on. When you say,”Nail soup,” the person goes and gets some carrots he has.
And someone else comes and puts in some potatoes.
And someone else, some cabbage.
....and......

"The wooly worms this year are decked out and I mean all puffed up. There are acorns everywhere you step. Many people are commenting on it."

Many acorns her too...few pecans though. Last year was an excellent year for pecans.

Oh...I guess I am lucky to live near an Aldi’s.

Soon we will all have to go back to making our own margarine in a squeeze bag! (Only the senior citizens will remember this.)

The acorns in NE Ohio are the size of golf balls! Can’t walk around w/o twisting an ankle or getting konked in the head.

"But you mentioned WalMart, and no way is butter $5.50 per pound there. "

Wal-Mart Brand butter has been $2.00 a pound for a long time. I looked this past week and it is now $2.84 a pound, a 42% increase. I have ~15 pounds of <$2.00 a pound butter in my stash.

The $81K federal salary is a bit misleading, at least with respect to salaries in DC. The average salary would be a broad measure that includes all geographic areas. In DC however, higher GS-13/14/15 grades are commonplace and pay at those levels runs in the low hundreds but can go much higher in the upper steps of those grades. Bottom line is that DC feds are highly compensated, not to mention having an exceedingly generous benefits package.

"no jobs for USC grads with majors in business management."

Obama gave a speech at USC the other day and I genuinely felt sorry for those kids with their hopey dopey faces. They were cheering for Obama. The old ignorance is bliss writ large.
