Republican Rick Scott now leads Democrat Alex Sink by six points in the race to be Floridas next governor. Its the widest gap between the candidates in six months of polling.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Florida shows Scott with 50% support for the second survey in a row. Sink, the states elected chief financial officer, earns 44% of the vote. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate in the race. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This moves the race from a Toss-Up to Leans Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard.
Less than two weeks ago, Scott, a wealthy businessman and former health care executive, held a 50% to 47% lead. This race has been close for weeks since Scotts upset win over Bill McCollum in the state GOP Primary in August. In six surveys since then, Scott has picked up 41% to 50% support, while Sink has captured 36% to 47%. The candidates were in a near tie at the beginning of September.
Scott and Sink are scheduled to hold their second debate tonight.

Wanna talk about lies, boy can Sink tell them!!!!!
I like how you absolve Sink.
Sank you!
TROLLING FOR SINK.
Move on DU nutter.
That being said, she has a third of the responsiblity. I held my nose and voted for scott. Sink is an obama lackey and that dog dont hunt anymore in Florida
sink’s leiutenant gov has been making the rounds. He is a former prosecutor (not a plus given the number of nifongs in FL) who is attempting to hype up the 5th amendment issue by lying about the law.
Sink herself is missing in action. She is a pro-homosexual marriage and child adoption, anti-second amendment democrat sleaze who is trying to run a stealth campaign. People don’t even realize in this case, “alex” is a girl. (alegedly)
The three words that best describe her are, and I quote, “Sink, sank, sunk ...”
Excellent.
Yeah, maybe Scott should cut a last minute ad on that topic. It's quite a mudslinging contest down here for governor..
I'm in Michigan and I can 100% guarantee that the 'rats are going down HARD up here.
Sink is a hole.
I can personally attest that my local paper (the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, or “SHT” for short) has predictably played its “coverage” of Scott and Sink from agitprop 101: Attack the candidate you disfavor and write puff-pieces on the socialist.
************************************************
The bias of the SH-T is brazen.....I pray that this news is accurate becasue FL desparately needs Scott’s know-how and business skills to turn the corner on this horrible economy!
We had a huge Early Voting Kickoff Rally in Sarasota on Monday and I met him for the first time! What an impressive communicator and gentlemman! He stayed after for over an hour to personally thank each volunteer and have a photo with anyone who requested.
I will proudly cast my ballot for Rick Scott.
BTW....if Sink sneaks in it will be a disaster for FL in redistricting and be terrible for 2012 election.
America as well as Florida needs Rick Scott as FL Governor so we can ‘retire’ Obama to full time golf in 2012!
This Rasmussen poll is the best news of the week.
Don't forget we already have LA, NJ, IN, and VA - with New Jersey and Virginia being of the most significance. We will win Iowa, Georgia, Tennessee, and New Mexico; and hold Texas, Arizona, and Nevada in 13 days.
Sinkhole has stated more than once that she thinks Obama is doing a good job. She flunks the IQ test. A vote for Sink would be the same as voting for Obama or Pelosi. She would increase the size of FL government, introduce a FL income tax, and other new taxes. Florida’s unemployment and foreclosure rates are already among the highest, and she would make them even worse.
Not to mention who her husband is. Bill McBride, democrat atty and member of demo power broker law firm, Holland & Knight. He lost to Jeb Bush. So it is more of the same, puddentain jackass donkeys, or rather Alex Sink (McBride) running as a democratic donkette.
Alex Sink’s real NAME is McBride, her married name. Bill McBride who lost in 2002 to Jeb Bush. The fact she didn’t run on her married name says a lot about democrat obfuscation. They, she and husband are of the same political cloth, and it ain’t cotton.
Oh! what a surprise! /s/ I guess Rasmussen is giving up trying to make Florida look close. It must be that the Gallup turn out models have embarrassed him into playing it straight.
