A film portraying the real-life stoning of an Iranian woman is opening in London despite protests from the country's government.
It depicts a brutal form of punishment still sanctioned by Iran's current hard-line regime.
The film's director claims some European governments have been reluctant to support it - fearful of antagonising Iran's regime, already at loggerheads with the West.
The film The Stoning Of Soraya M is based on the true story of a woman brutally killed after being falsely accused of adultery.
Soraya is stoned to death in her Iranian village under Islamic Sharia law.
The film's director, Cyrus Nowrasteh, has dedicated the screening to Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani currently facing execution by stoning or hanging in Iran for adultery.

Muslims didn’t kill 3000 Americans on 9/11. Right, Whoopie? Right, Joy? We can’t condemn a whole religion for 9/11, can we Baba?
Wow. You should run for office.
Stoning is a good idea if God Almighty commands it to be done. If you read the verses, the people brought the man and confined him, as they did not know what to do. God Almighty commanded that he should be stoned.
I think Jesus clarified the idea with the woman brought to him for adultery.
Red herring. If they would be or would not be outraged is irrelevant to the fact that this practice in Islamic countries is barbaric and needs to be pointed out to the world.
Now, if you want to discuss abortion then we can do that too.
ummm - she was accused of adultry.
That was clearly portrayed.
Still ok with stoning her?
“And where was the man who committed adultery with her?”
He walks these hills in a long black veil.
No, he probably was not even mentioned, or was given a much less severe penalty.
Always remember the teachings of Jesus predates the perversions of Muhammad by a few hundred years
HE was tricked into agreeing with her husband’s acusations. He tried to retract his statements once he realized what was going on but his child was threatened so he backed off. (His wife had recently passed away and the child was all he had left in the world)
This brutal act should be saved only for real criminals like ....mmmmm...Nanacy Pelosi maybe?
“I saw my own people 2500 years ago in this.”
We ( the Christian world)evolved , these animals did not.
Perhaps you missed the “it does deserve to be praised for exposing the barbarians responsible”.
My post was not addressed to Freepers, who typically have a range of opinions on a variety of controversial issues, but brain-dead libs who are outraged by Islamic barbarity (as all should be), but almost uniformly turn a blind-eye to barbarity directed towards human beings in the womb.
No one cares about male circumcision.
It is available on netflix. When I got back from my tour in the Middle East, I sat down and watched it with my wife and she asked, “do they really do that over there?” TO which I explained, “only if you are a woman who has become a burden.”
The sick Iranian mullahs need to be given a nice little crusade brought down upon them.
“Stoning is a good idea if God Almighty commands it to be done.”
Oooohhhkayyyyyyy.....
Yeah, but note that this is used by Muslims as supposed evidence against Jesus' divinity. After all, that would make God inconsistent.
And note also that we don't see Jewish people who deny Jesus' divinity still don't follow that command for those who violate the sabbath.
So, is it "getting with modern times" to stop stoning, or is it "violating God's will with human 'modernization'?" After all, liberal theologians argue that views toward homosexuality are obsolete--if stoning is abandoned without a direct command from God, why not homosexuality? And why do many "Christians" still practice the anti-New Testament barbaric practice of mutilating their babies' genitalia?
Stoning is a good idea if God Almighty commands it to be done.
Remember that in Luke 3:14, Jesus commanded to do violence to no man. How can one not be a pacifist to be a true "Christian" if we are to follow those words?
I don't comment thus to be belligerent--I ask them as what I think are very legitimate and important questions if we are to comment on practices.
I wouldn't say "nobody," but it is true that many people are quite hypocritical.
“Nevermind the NOW...”
I was thinking they endorse the word “whore” so I guess they are all for stoning women especially if someone calls them a “whore”. Just a thought.
Thanks
