Lisa Holland, world affairs correspondent

A film portraying the real-life stoning of an Iranian woman is opening in London despite protests from the country's government.

It depicts a brutal form of punishment still sanctioned by Iran's current hard-line regime.

The film's director claims some European governments have been reluctant to support it - fearful of antagonising Iran's regime, already at loggerheads with the West.

The film The Stoning Of Soraya M is based on the true story of a woman brutally killed after being falsely accused of adultery.

Soraya is stoned to death in her Iranian village under Islamic Sharia law.

The film's director, Cyrus Nowrasteh, has dedicated the screening to Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani currently facing execution by stoning or hanging in Iran for adultery.

portraying the real-life stoning of an Iranian woman

This film was shown in general release in Australia, about six months ago. But it is not a real life documentary - it is a creative story - all acted.

Iran is infuriated. Well, so why is that? Stonings of women is in accordance with islam and the koran, (I refuse to capitalize ‘em both), is it not? So now they are pissed off. Because it shows exactly what medieval beasts they are!

And NOW can nowhere be found. Ain’t that just precious. HYPOCRITES!!!!

Way to go I'minthemoodforjihad...way to go.

Well, they'll stone you when you are all alone
They'll stone you when you are walking home
They'll stone you and then say they are brave
They'll stone you when you're sent down in your grave
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned

“...but I saw my own people 2500 years ago in this....”

Whoever “your own people” are, at the very least they’ve advanced into civilized society.

These frigging animals are just scum.

Yes, I have seen several real-life stoning taken by cell phones on the internet but a re-enactment in a full length film in HD with all the camera angles and a closer association with the central character will have a much more visual and emotional effect.

So stoning: Bad
Injection: Good
Hanging: Good
Electric Chair: Good
Firing Squad: Good

Did I get that about right? Far be it from me to defend Islamic Extremist but the idea that Stoning is the worst thing that can happen is ridiculous. The punishment may very well fit the crime (I don’t know about this case but the suggestion that it’s always bad but other forms are OK is what is confusing me here).

I just read enough posts from Muslim expatriates living in the UK and their domestic British anti-death penalty sycophants on the Sky News site to understand that there's enough moral relativists in Britain to equate the 50+ women on death row in America with the brutal stoning of one Iranian woman for her affair of the heart.

Never mind that our condemned prisoners were convicted of ghastly and bloody crimes, our US barbarism with the death penalty is regarded as equalivalent to some Iranian village exacting retribution with a shower of rocks for a single woman's bedroom soiree that was none of anyone else's business. Sure, fine. Kiss my American ass, left wing anti-capital punishment pussies if you feel that way.

Freepers, we're going to have to ignore the way that the Iranians brutally treat their people. Just consider that whole part of the world as the bunch of goat-smelling whirling Dervish yakoos that everyone is afraid to admit that they are, and we'll live our lives knowing that stuff like that just happens over there. Perfectly in character for those savages.

From now on, our sentiment should be "Another accused adulteress being stoned to death in Iran? How sad. Oh well, that's how they roll over there in the third world." and we can all sleep soundly not caring a damn bit if a tsunami erases Bangladesh's coastline or a 9.0 earthquake flattens 200,000 Iranian citizens in the ancient mud city of Wum. That's what they get, that's how they are, and they're the reason I thank God that I live in the United States of America.

I'm way beyond caring anymore. This is what the international Muslim-loving left wants, so let them have their way. I don't want so much as a plug nickel sent abroad anymore. Not even a nine month old dried up Cheeto from underneath the driver's seat of my pickup truck being sent as international aid from the USA. No more reports of these ethical international outrages like women being stoned or gays being hung from cranes in Iran, please. You can post the news, but don't expect me to care about what goes on in these dusty non-Western nations full of camel raping degenerate retards who pray to their moon god.

So - they are “infuriated” by the SHOWING of an actual stoning...

but not the ACT of stoning...

Did I get that about right?

You omitted infanticide: Bad. Also, I'm fairly certain the victim here didn't have a robust appellate process (she probably wasn't even allowed to speak in her own defense) and didn't spend years on death row waiting for the Iranian "justice" system to review the case at every level to ensure that she was guilty of the adultery she was accused of committing.

Let me try. Stoning for having been raped = Bad. Stoning for raping = Good. There is a difference.
