A film portraying the real-life stoning of an Iranian woman is opening in London despite protests from the country's government.
It depicts a brutal form of punishment still sanctioned by Iran's current hard-line regime.
The film's director claims some European governments have been reluctant to support it - fearful of antagonising Iran's regime, already at loggerheads with the West.
The film The Stoning Of Soraya M is based on the true story of a woman brutally killed after being falsely accused of adultery.
Soraya is stoned to death in her Iranian village under Islamic Sharia law.
The film's director, Cyrus Nowrasteh, has dedicated the screening to Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani currently facing execution by stoning or hanging in Iran for adultery.

Well, we don't need that for an infant genital mutilation film. :-)
Stoning for gathering firewood is also good, if on the sabbath.
It is not just a creative story. It is a real life story that has been acted out.
And where was the man who committed adultery with her? Was he stoned? Or was he just another member of the crowd who were tossing the stones?
Screw Iran’s Outrage!! There are REAL videos of Stoning in Iran on the Net.
I’m with you. As long as THEY stay over THERE, they can do whatever the hell they want. THEY come over HERE and start that crap, then I care. The US needs to go way back to taking care of its own people and staying out of the business of everyone else.
Why should they be infuriated? It’s what they believe in, isn’t it? They should be happy they’re getting free publicity about how wonderful their country is. It’s Shariah law, the thing a majority of Muslims support. Celebrate it! Broadcast the execution on live TV on every channel! Dare the west to follow your example!
Or maybe, deep down they know they’re nothing but sub-human brutes and they’re ashamed of themselves.
They’re angry because it shows their animal brutality for all the world to see.
God bless these filmmakers, and may they stay strong.

Exactly my thoughts. If you do something and then you’re infuriated by the prospect that others will know about it — then you know what you’ve done is wrong. And in this case, it is about as wrong as anything can possibly get.
BTW, the movie needs a real actress to take the stoning, not just pretend to take it. Since she's so outraged by anyone speaking truth about islam, I volunteer Joy Beastalityhar or Whupass Goldbadge.
I can see Iran’s point.
I mean, the movie really puts stoning in a bad light, leaving out any of the positive, uplifting aspects that are the reason Iran continues to carry the practice out.
If you have Netflix you can stream this movie. Its a very well done movie, heart wrenching and terribly disturbing look at Sharia Law. The stoning scene is very hard to watch as it is very realistic and very graphic. Everyone needs to watch this movie to see whats coming when Sharia law takes over the planet.
I think it’s the way stoning is done. Having the town take place in throwing stones and killing the person appeals to mans barbaric side. Paying someone to do that for us...is the kindler gentler man.
“MEMO TO OBAMA: America used to stand up for what is right, but not since you arrived. For once, take a stand against real evil. I’ll be watching.”
Well, okay, watch if you want to...but I don’t recommend holding your breath.
Well said.
Nothing personal, Mohammedans, let's just say we are not impressed.
i just have to wonder if the folks who are praising this film (and it does deserve to be praised for exposing the barbarians responsible) would be as effusive in their praise if the filmmakers who put it together made a movie that included a graphic presentation of an abortion procedure.
Show me where I said anything anout capital punishment? Also show me where this was a punishment meted out by the State?
I anxiously await these responses........
