House Republicans have been relatively successful this week at presenting a united front around their Pledge to America, but only through a strategic outreach campaign to lawmakers, media and outside groups, that has managed to keep deep dissatisfaction over several key issues largely under wraps.
Still, interviews with Republican aides reveal that many in the GOP caucus are unhappy that there was no earmark ban and no promise to pass a balanced budget amendment in the proposal, which was unveiled Thursday by House Minority Leader John Boehner. The inclusion of a health insurance provision considered to be mandate angered many conservative lawmakers.

You got that right, desperation sets in... forget principles, morals and values... just get that win at any cost!
“Seems to me that a lot of people are still living under the impression that we should be able to elect republicans and all should be well.
The simple fact is that were going to have to stand over them with a whip for the rest of our lives.”
More smoke and mirrors by the GOP
The new ‘Pledge’ has NOTHING to fix the immigration problem or enforce the LAW.
Tea Party people......Are you going to let the established GOP keep screwing us or are you going to shed these open border hack leaders like Armey, Whitman, McCain and the out of touch fools who designed this phony ‘Pledge’????
You ALL despise the democrats when they pull this shady stuff, when will you STOP defending the GOP for doing the same???
Some of the GOP are hijacking the Tea Party movement, which will destroy it. Most of them don’t like you any better than the democrats do! You are being USED!
House Republicans Pledge to Establish Operational Control of Border, But Say Nothing about Border Fence, Worksite Enforcement or Amnesty
Thursday, September 23, 2010 http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/75709
[snip] The Republicans in the U.S. House of Representative released A Pledge to America today, laying out agenda items they plan to pursue if they take control of Congress, that commits the party to establishing operational control of the border but makes no mention of border fencing, enforcing immigration laws at the worksites of employers who hire illegal aliens or whether the party under any circumstances would grant any form of amnesty to foreign nationals currently living in the United States illegally.
By contrast, the 2008 Republican Platform, approved by the delegates at the 2008 Republican National Convention, committed the Republican Party to completing a border fence, enforcing immigration laws at the worksite and opposing an amnesty.[snip]
A newbie troll trying to spread dissension and false accusations.
Unfortunately, there will be schleps who fall for it.
The pledge is a good start. It certainly can't be called a 'sellout' by any legitimate conservative.
Leftists are so transparent, aren't they?
Sniping is ridiculous, especially since the article did not name a single person who objected. All these articles that use unnamed sources deserve the ashcan.
How many way can we spell g-u-l-l-i-b-l-e?
This guy's a troll trying to divide legitimate conservatives. It is o-b-v-i-o-u-s.
There is EVIL afoot. Don't fall for the enemy's ploy, Av.
Look who's talking, first thing the GOPBOTS start doing is attacking the Conservatives... AGAIN.
The GOP Kool-Aid drinkers can have a problem with a post without their continuing attacks on conservatives!
But since you asked, the so-called "pledge" is as worthless as the paper it is printed on. The only "pledge" I want to hear is "I will uphold my OATH to Protect and Defend"... saying anything else is just worthless dribble that the GOP will violate as soon as they step into office!
As I said above; Free Republic is a Conservative Website, not a GOP website... wanna feel loved, then head on over to the official GOP/RNC website.
Coming on FR and belittling Conservatives will get you no where!
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Viking Kitty/ZOT ping list!. . . don't be shy.
Those of us who have been conservatives for our entire lives and are presently working for conservatives, and getting rid of RINO's, are members of the Tea Party movement, love this country with our whole hearts and want to rid our land of the Marxist infilitration know exactly how the left works.
I would recommend that you do the same. Learn the trolls from the legitimate conservatives, and you won't look so silly.
Ah yes, another n00b sitting in the basement working for Axelgreasy & co. We’ll never figure you out, honey, so just keep right on spittling for your Barry The Bastard Boy demigod fascist scum.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Feeling like Charlie Brown playing football with Lucy, yet?
First of all you know absolutely nothing about me, so you can save your breath with the idiotic statements about serving and following conservative values. As usual the GOPBOTS show their true stripes in attacking fellow conservatives who disagree.
I made no mention of the original poster, my posts were directed at the people attacking conservatives... attacks just like you made... my point has been made in a few posts.
So save the self-righteous statements and clean up YOUR party before expecting everyone to jump on board... I will not violate my principles to put another RINO in office... EVER.
If the GOP wants the Conservative vote they can earn it through their actions.
I understand that you hate Republicans. I also see that you hate conservative Republicans. I see that you attack those of us who are working within the Republican party to get rid of those people who wear our name, but don't agree with our conservative principles.
So since you are a bad combination of sensitive and nasty, I now have your name on the "Do Not Disturb" list as one who can dish it out, but not take it.
Good luck with ridding the world of conservative Republicans. I'm working to rid the world of Marxists.
Flail away.
(Pssst.......the guy who posted this is a troll).
‘Demand your congressman votes for Mike Pence for Speaker of the House’
Or you will vote for an Obama Democrat. Brilliant!
Look out, here it comes.
The Mods must be taking a Sunday afternoon nap today. ;)
Goodness gracious, when Conservatives argue with each other, this troll has succeeded.
Oh, I can take it just fine, I just don't deal it hypocrisy, such as those who say they are conservative, but are more than willing to "look the other way" for a political win.
Getting rid of the marxists that are killing our Republic is great, but to just haphazardly vote in the GOP (aka dem lite) and die by a thousand cuts gets us to the same end... just a little slower.
You expect conservatives that have been constantly lied to for the last 40+ years to just forget the treachery and again take the GOP at its word? I don't thinks that's going to happen ever again.
You know as well as I do that the "pledge" is just window dressing, just as the "Contract with America" was... when asked why the GOP did not actually pass any of the "CWA" items... their response was "oh, we just said we would bring it up, not necessarily to pass such items"... and you probably call that keeping their word, I don't!
In reading the entire, original article there is not a single quote by a named individual in opposition to the pledge. While the headline of the article is sensational, it is not a fair representation of anything whatsoever. In fact, the article is essentially about nothing save the author’s opinion, which he of course has every right to express. The unfortunate result is the use to which it - the headline - is used as a club to bash the effort of the House GOP, as brand-newbie GOPavenger33 has done with this post.
As for The Pledge itself, it’s a workable start and a practical political document. When the new congress is seated our vigilance will be essential for the survival of the Republic.
