The former half-term Alaska governor said she "would offer [herself] up in the name of service to the public" and run for President in two years if "nobody else wanted to step up" during an interview on Fox News on Wednesday night.
Her latest statements have added further speculation that Palin is winking and nudging her way toward a 2012 run, especially with last Saturdays visit to Iowa for a GOP fund-raiser.
Iowa, of course, is a key early presidential voting state, with the caucuses there a critical first step on the road to securing a party's presidential nomination.
During the interview with host Greta Van Susteren, Palin said a reason to run would for President is if no one comes forward with "solutions that are needed to get the economy back on the right track."
She said that included "fighting those on the extreme left who seem to want to dismantle some of our national security tools that we have in place."
But the former vice presidential candidate, whose recent endorsements have helped several GOP contenders win their primaries, has been coy about an official announcement. Palin said she wasnt lured by a presidential title or personal power.
"I also know that anybody -- anybody -- can make a huge difference in this country without a title, without an office, just being out there as an advocate for solutions that can work to get the country on the right track," she said. "And thats where I am now."
Go Sarah!!!
‘Mitt’ is out there somewhere frantically waving his hand and screaming “oohhoooh me me me me me me I will I will I will”
lol I love the way she tweaks the two slimes, Huckster and Romney!
If Barack Hussein keeps tanking the economy for another 2 years, Sarah Palin will be elected in a landslide.
If Barack Hussein keeps tanking the economy for another 2 years, Sarah Palin will be elected in a landslide.
That’s a little too coy...Surely, there will be several who will step up.
I like Sarah, and I mean no disrespect. I think its good she distracts the enemy and attracts this attention...
I would however like to see more choices in the primaries, and better choices than we had last time...and hear them all talk about issues, policy... Simple popularity and enthusiasm are not enough.
Not saying that Sarah has nothing more to offer...I am just suspicious of any effort to pick anyone this early. I want our candidate to be fully vetted. Not like the way some parties chose their candidates.
I want the smartest, strongest conservative. And if that’s Sarah, well, fantastic...But the race is a long way from even beginning, much less ending.
I don’t think she is going to run. I think we are going to be stuck with a “choice” between Huckleberry and Myth. Either would be better than Obama but God...not by much.
At this rate of decline, a cardboard cut out of Sarah could win.
I think about a dozen GOPers will step up, so I’m not sure that’s her best line. Still, I think she’s our best possible candidate.
Palin/Bolton would destroy either Obama or Hillary easily.
Sarah can be MY President.
Duncan Hunter was willing and able to talk about the issues, but nobody wanted to hear what he had to say because he made too much sense.
You said “I want the smartest, strongest conservative”
Who would that be, you obviously don't think it's Palin or you would have said so. According to the media, we've got the smartest president we've ever had.
How about common sense Conservative for a change, somebody that governs exactly like they said they would. It doesn't take a genius, it takes a leader...
I don’t think by “step up” she mean just any one willing to run, but someone she could wholeheartedly get behind of, someone who would lead the country in the direction she knows it needs to go.
I think a big part of her doesn’t want to run, because she knows how much it will cost her, she can live a much more enjoyable life doing what she does now for the rest of her life. But there is another part of her that knows this country is in deep trouble and more may be required of her. So she’s hoping someone else can step up so she doesn’t have to, but also willing to step in if nobody else will.
Flame away if you like, but what we definitely do not need is somebody saying, "Well, I guess I could if nobody else wants to." The Presidency is not for those who would take it under those circumstances.
While it impossible to know her plans, I took the comment to mean that if nobody better than Willard or The Pardoner steps up, she will feel obliged to run, for the good of the country. If a Jim Demint or Mike Pence type steps up, she might just prefer to help that candidate get elected.
If she had a very credible senior statesman like Bolton, it would give her the gravitas to deflect some of the more idiotic attacks that come from the left and MSM. And you shouldn’t underestimate the impact of the first female Presidential candidate. Although the radical feminists will never accept her, I think she’d be well received by the soccer moms.
The line was cyo stuff. There's no comittal there. That being said, I like Palin, but I bet I can think of five people who I'd probably vote for ahead of her. Starting with Michelle Bachman or Bobby Jindal. And I am an across the board conservative. That does not bode well for the former half term governer.
Again, I wish her the best, and I will be happy to vote for her if she manages to get the nomination.
In this day and age, you've got to be able to inspire people. Otherwise, we would just read their resume and their outlined positions and vote. For better or worse, it doesn't work that way.
