tx...((HUGS))....I had to use a hankie when I reread your timeline this year. Thank you so much for all the time you spent putting it together. I lost your mix in a hard drive crash and it took me more than a week to find it saved on another drive. Now I have it saved on three different external HDs.

As always, prayers for all of you, for your safety and success of mission.

I have to do that every year when I read that timeline.

I’ll have a hard time keeping a professional composure tomorrow at our ceremony here.

I’ve never had an event effect me the way 9/11 did.

I have a better understanding than I used to of why my mom can remember exactly where she was standing in ‘63 and what she was doing down to the most minute detail when she heard about Kennedy.

Thanks, Star, for your post, and all the links...I don’t need reminding, but I do need to reread about the day we were attached by the “religion of peace”. ((HUGS))

Kathy thank you for doing what you’ve done for me every year since 2003...posting that timeline.

Thank you to everyone who thanked me...LOL!...for coming up with it.

To those of you that can still remember in crisp detail where you were when Kennedy was killed...I never understood how you did that...until September 11t, 2001.

Now I remember everything for the week that followed like it happened yesterday.

For me...like it was for a lot of you...9/11 was the defining moment of my life. The events of that day ultimately put me on a course to where I am now.

It’s led me to some wonderful things...allowed me to call some truly special and wonderful people my friend...*cough* FReeper canteen *cough* and shown me the realities of real evil int he world.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about what happened 9 years ago.

God bless America...and God bless those that died that day....and in the days since who gave their life to defend this “last and greatest bastion of freedom”.

Cast iron Dutch oven with little legs can sit right ontop of a wood burning stove. Just do campfire cooking on it.

There are ways to get around no bees...You can polinate the squash type plants but pinching off the male bloom and Kissing the female bloom with it.

Raised beds are the way to go.. Makes sitting gardening much easier.

I haven't had a fresh off the tree fig in, oh my, looong time!

I had two last weekend while mowing the lawn! Piper helped me plant that tree 3 years ago and she helps me care for it every time she visits. I'm hoping to be able to give her some fruit from it next time she visits.

Our tree is barely a foot tall, but you do give me hope that
they can grow in the desert! LOL!

Maybe MY Piper will have a fig some day!

Maybe she will!
In the meantime, let me see about getting a jar of fig preserves to you.
Nana’s sister has a huge tree (a relative of Piper’s tree) on her farm and she does preserves every year. Her boys don’t really care for the figs, so she calls it strawberry jam. The color isn’t too far off and the flavor is right on. Absolutely scrumptious!

Then you know what I'm talkin' about, HJ! Aren't they most delish that way?

You won't be sorry when/if your tree in the desert begins to produce figs, LUV! YUM!

Sorry I didn’t stay up to greet you all last night.

No apologies necessary, ML. Rest/sleep is very important! I was here and then got sidetracked by that horrible fire going on in San Bruno and never said my goodnights so anyone who was still around last night....G'night!! :)

Aloha TRG and Night Owl and Star!

I was away yesterday but have taken the time to read through the thread and am proud of the Canteen contributors for a great presentation. For this I applaud your efforts and thank each and every one.

Glad to see TRG and Star back in the postings.....missed ya.

Tomorrow marks the ninth anniversary, a solemn day for all of us who remember and a day each of us ought to take to remind and educate those who do not remember or have chosen to forget. I'll remind my son that in May of 2001, we stood below the WTC towers while visiting the Battery and on our way to the Statue of Liberty, doing so as to keep the memory of the tragic attack, the losses we endured and the sacrifices we have made over the past decade to preserve our liberty. I'll remind him that 'forgetting is a bad habit', one that must be discouraged lest we once again suffer the consequences of banality and perceived weakness from those who wish us harm.

What's your present posting, TRG? Keep in touch.
