The month of September 2005 was a very busy month for President Bush after Katrina came on land at the Gulf coast and damaged the area. We see President Bush and First Lady Laura visiting New Orleans and other affected areas in Louisiana and Mississippi to comfort the victims of the hurricane and bring aid
The country lost Chief Justice William Renquist who passed away on September 3, 2005
President Bush nominated Judge Roberts to become the next Chief Supreme Court Justice. On September 29th Justice Roberts was sworn in as the 20th? Supreme Court Chief Justice.
President Bush remembered 9/11 heroes at a Medal of Valor ceremony. He also met with several foreign leaders and addressed the Useless Nations
For the quote of the month I have chosen President Bushs Remarks which he gave at the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service on September 16, 2005
I am SO jealous of her! LOL!
Oh for the days of peace (even in the midst of war) and all was right with the world! *mega-sigh*
Thanks for brightening our darkened world!
Looks like GW is the lucky one!!
God Bless
Great photo. Thanks for posting
I have to share something with you all that happened last night.
I caught the end of American Idol and then started to see the beginning of this new TV show, "Touch" with Keifer, you all used to like me when I was Jack Bauer, but I'm really a lefty just like my Dad, Sutherland....
It struck me VERY weird. Here's why:
In 2000, I called my brother on the phone and told him I was going to meet the next President of the United States tomorrow--I just knew it. (We lived in PA at the time, for my job and W was going to be at West Chester University...or whatever they call it) Sure enough, we didn't even have tickets to the event, but I got the day off and we went over there. Hubby had a video camera, so we split up to make sure we'd be able to see W if there were a slight chance. Oddly enough, we both ended up in the same place and W came out the door and we were part of the crowd that lined up along this one area and he shook hands with all of us. Hubby gave him a letter that he took and put in his shirt pocket--it was just telling him to please do something about the tax code, properly taking care of our military, and a little about the two of us and how much we were behind him. There were a few more people down the line, and then he and I shook hands...
Later that day, and here on FR, people asked me what it was like. I said, "It was like there was this thread of goodness that went through him. I could feel it. Our handshake wasn't out of the ordinary, but that connection was there and I could feel it."
ODDLY ENOUGH, what dropped my jaw last night when I heard it, was the beginning of this new TV show, where the premise of the show was that there was A THREAD THAT CONNECTS US ALL--THOSE WE ARE TO BE CLOSE TO AND THOSE WE MUST MEET...they made it look like a semi-visible laser beam. This kid can supposedly see and mathmatically figure out which people are supposed to connect for a moment and/or who's supposed to be with who for a while--so if it doesn't happen, he can help it to happen.
Wow. That's the exact feeling I had when I met W. That there was this thread of goodness that connected people of like mind. I knew he was a good man---from that touch.
Kinda freaky, huh? I sure thought so when I saw the beginning of that show last night!!!
Gorgeous photo isn’t it? When I look at it, I can’t help but think how serene and radiant President Bush seems. There’s a sense of carefree innocence that I have not seen in him for many years.
The poor man had to put up with so much crap and dealt with many difficult situations we cannot even imagine what it like for him to face during his time in office Yet he handled these obstacles with such grace and humility.
Anyhow, we’re all happy to see him at peace now and enjoying life as a retiree! :)
It is a wonderful picture...as they all are. He is a completely happy person.
I was always confident that he didn’t let the petty MSM and his leftist enemies didn’t pierce his happiness. He was able to shrug them off for what they were.
I was always confident in him....period.....
Wow, what a great story NordP. You must felt goosebumps when you met GWB face-to-face! He has a presense about him that is enpowering and his charisma is irresistible.
Most politicians come off as cold and aloof but Dubya is so warm, down to earth and very approachable. He connects with people in such a personal way that many politicians and public figures are uncapable of doing. That is exactly why I will always be forever grateful for the time he served in office. Thanks for sharing your story!
Don't know you've seen this yet, but it has been making the rounds on Facebook and Twitter for the past few days. I wanted to share this to all of you because it serves as a reminder how loyal and supportive Pres. Bush has been to our military and this is a such a great classic photo even several years after it was taken.
It would also make such a terrific full-size poster!
hand over heart for heroes........
He was always such an inspiration to me, when I thought MY problems were bad, I saw how HE handled HIS and thought...my problems are small in comparison.
I always felt for him when stories of his parents thinking Jeb would have been the one elected Pres and when they called Clinton their "son" ---ew... I can TOTALLY understand how W could have just felt like...I'm DONE with all this. I did my time. I did the very best I could....leave me alone now, and let me hang with my military buddies and my wife and puppies (not necessarily in that order ;-).
Thank you W for alllll you put up with from every direction. Enjoy your time to yourself!!!
Thanks again, pattyvita for all your great pics!
Thanks Patty. That photo is several years old now. It was taken when President Bush was still in the White House sometime around 2006 or so. The poster is wrong. It was in the news at the time.
Here was our President and First Lady at the Boca Grande Womens Club Live Auction gala dinner on Friday night. Notice the glow on their cheeks. Guess spending some time in the Florida sun does that to you! They both look perfectly healthy and fantastic as always! By the way, they will get back home to Texas this week so their extended vacation is coming to an end.
Look closely, you can see Jenna, Laura and GW at their table watching the dancers sweating up a storm!
((Ping!))
Thanks,as always!W sure looks good in blue! Overall though they both look relaxed and like they’re enjoying life.
Thanks for more great finds, Patty! I think they look younger now than they did 3 years ago when they were just out of the DC ratrace! :)
I remember your reports of that meeting, Nordie!! Gosh it seems like a long time ago.
Just saw your New Year’s post! Good to see your Dad looking so well! Happy New Year to the both of you!
I was thinking the very same thing when I saw these most recent pics!
