WASHINGTON An enormous and impassioned crowd rallied at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, summoned by Glenn Beck, a conservative broadcaster who called for a religious rebirth in America at the site where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous I Have a Dream speech 47 years ago to the day.
Something that is beyond man is happening, Mr. Beck said in opening the event as the crowd thronged near the memorial grounds. America today begins to turn back to God.
It was part religious revival, part history lecture, as Mr. Beck invoked the founding fathers and the black-robed regiment of pastors of the Revolutionary War and spoke of American exceptionalism.

Officials do not make crowd estimates because they are unreliable and can be controversial, but event organizers put the number of attendees at 500,000; NBC News said it was closer to 300,000, but by any measure it was a large turnout. The crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument.

Thats why the mormons thought they had to dead dunk the lot of them 100 years later...
None of them were mormons...
or would have agreed with mormonism...
James Madison who wrote the Bill of Rights must be rolling over in his grave at the thought that pagan mormonism was forced on his unwilling, religious rights violated memory...
exactly. and The WAY was what the early followers called the teachings of Jesus and what they lived.

In those days they had different creeds and not all were Trintyites
All believed in the Father and Son and Holy Ghost as do the LDS.
BTW Lucifer was never part of the Godhead so stop with you distortion!
Jesus was the Only begotten of the Heavenly Father and Lucifer was one of many spirit children who fell from grace and was cast out from among the sons of God!
Were you not at one time among the sons of God are not they your brothers the family of God just not the begotten or even the only begotten?
-believed in works righteousness
So you do not bear fruit for the scriptures says
Matt. 7: 16-20
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Are you righteous fruits or contentious fruit?
I’d read that too. One good book, if you can find it, is called: “Tale Of Two Cities”. It sounds like the novel by Victor Hugo, but it’s not. It is written by a Roman Catholic priest, but people of different faiths can appreciate it. It was not meant to demean, criticize, or bad-mouth Mormon people in any way. (he wrote it w/input from Mormon relatives and friends)In it, he merely set down the different beliefs of each of the two churches.
He was trying to let Catholic people know the basic similarities and differences of each faith. On the cover, there is a picture of the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City in one corner, then the Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican Square in the other. It is set in a column form, so people can compare them. He explains what the viewpoint of both churches on various given issues.
He said he was approached by fellow R. Cath.s who didn’t know what to say when Mormon missionaries came to their door. Some of them can be a bit pushy, and these people would clam up and feel strange when approached by them! So he wrote that book for some practical help in knowing what the missionary was talking about, and talking about their own faith to the LDS person.
Years ago, there was a convert to R. Catholic Church from the Mormon Church who came w/his family to our parish. He told us about what made him decide to be a R. Catholic Christian. He said he read that book, and it’s a very good one. However, he said one criticism of it, was the writer “wasn’t there”, and he himself was. The way he spoke made me think he thought the author was letting them (LDS) off a little too easily! This, of course, was coming from a former Mormon!
I think the author’s name was Fr. Lawrence Taylor (I think) if that doesn’t help, try the title above. He does say something at the end about how the material he put in the book, helped him make the decision about which of the churches in his family to follow further to!(RC)
The question seems to be...
How do we grow our Republic to a more positive future, while not compromising the original beginning and intent?
I think your answer was in the passage you quoted: "...and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings..."Acts 17:26
The problem I see here is in the presuppositions. According to Romans 13 "...there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God..." it is rather fruitless for believers to "grow a Republic" particularly if it is outside of God's Will to do so. According to Glenn's own metaphor of our nation on a freeway and passing all of the exit signs - well, we have long passed those exits. The globe is most certainly heading for a thousand years of darkness, only the naive and foolish would argue otherwise.
The fact that we have President Soros and the metastasized cancer of Progressivism at every single level of government and social life, talk about some sort of economic or civil righting of the course is folly. If we agree with Romans 13, then we are left with the stark reality in that God appointed this time and season where we in the US are to be ruled by the wicked. Even under the wildest hopes of a God fearing House and Senate, the best that can be accomplished is putting the brakes on any further encroachment of our liberties in the form of legislation. The dirty truth is that the Beast of regulation will pick up and carry the torch for the final touches on this nation's preordained destruction.
For the sake of relative brevity, we can look at this leadership in two ways:
Concerning the former, the US has already commited itself as a matter of official State policy, to removing itself as that positive force for at least the next two years. Even if Barry or George Soros has a Road to Damascus experience, the machinery is in place to negate any act of repentance on their part. In short, to combat this evil is to polish brass on the Titanic
The other aspect is the "refining fire". I don't feel qualified to comment on the ways the Paraclete moves to sanctify the people of God, but what I do know of aggressive persecution is that it leaves a fairly high body count of martyrs. Second, I am struggling with how an enemy of God (as all of the unregenerate are) even in the form of a Mormon, or Jehovah's Witness, or a religious Jew can somehow find God's blessings, for God does not hear the prayers of the unregenerate. This isn't just to pick on Glenn, there is a new book out called "Almost Christian" which paints a grim picture of the generation that we are depending on to bring us the "next George Washington". The obstacles to acheive any sort of political, cultural or religious revival/reformation are legion, and those skilled in navigating around them are few. This situation is light years away from this country's founding principles. Whereas most if not all of the founders were believers, a minimum of 90% of our political leaders are reprobate.
The problem, for at least this Republic, is that while numbers run as high as 70% of the population claiming a "Christian" faith, for the vast majority of that crowd, their religion is better characterized as "a moralistic therapeutic deism" - Jesus as a cosmic concierge or therapist who exists to be our spiritual Santa Claus. Therefore, events such as 8/28 fit in perfectly with the idea that our pitiful self-generated quid-pro-quos with God, where we dictate the terms and expect God to assume the role of obligation, give all the appearance that we are "doing something", and as a result of our "doing something" God will actually come in and do the heavy lifting.
My question for this group is, what do you think God was doing before we decided to exercise some good ol' fashioned self-righteousness and expect that singing a few hymns with the unregenerate will motivate God to reverse His course with the US? Do we have any example of that in Scripture?
The closest I can think of is Jonah and Ninevah, and even that was temporary. ALL of the other examples show that God still trucks along with His plans: example king Josiah. Here his father was busy running the Sodomites out of the country. When he passed and Josiah took his place, the young king commisioned the dilapidated Temple to be restored. During the restoration, the High Priest providentially found in the corner stone of the Temple copies of the Torah. Josiah was so moved by how far the people of Judah had strayed from the nation's founding principles and documents, that he legislated morality, and tried to compel the people to conjure up some righteousness so that God would not continue in His announced plans through His prophets to destroy Judah and take the people captive.
Even though Josiah and others repented, the die was cast long ago. You know the rest of the story. The point being, even if I am grossly pessimistic about the spiritual nature of this Republic, the examples in Scriptures indicate quite plainly that the land will surely vomit us out - for we haven't even talked about casting out the Sodomites and destroying the temples of idolators.
Those Universal Truths you mentioned - Read Romans 1 and then consider how those Universal Truths are received by those whom God has turned over to a reprobated mind.
About the only bright point I see is that the bogus self-righteousness will most likely amount to strong motivation to cast out the most visibly wicked from office this November. Will the emotional high of 8/28 change our clergy? Probably only a few since most of our clergy is only motivated in generating numbers and spurious conversions. When many in the pulpit don't even believe Genesis 1-11, have a generally low view of God and lower view of the necessity of equiping the saints with the real armour of God, all I can recommend is for each of us whose salvation is secure in Christ to be that last remaining light and salt.
As a parting thought, and in the true spirit of the Blue Bird of F'ing Joy, I submit this disturbing parable, something that would seem to come out of the Gospel According to Claire Wolf:
Matt 12:43-45 "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation."
Consider the person who "empties, sweeps and puts in order" their life through an 8/28 sort of Experience. If this person is a nominal Christian of the "moralistic therapeutic deist" variety (which is the bulk of those within the American Religion) then what happens when the emotional high wears off and the unclean spriti that once troubled the nominal Christian returns with even more wicked friends. I don't interpret this as the foundations of a riot, rather I am looking at this from the eternal perspective: what happens when people who think they are saved go on a self-righteousness Crusade expecting God to "work miracles" and then discover the expected miracles never come. What spiritual crisis then occurs?
not part of the Catholism I was involved in.
BTW: Im writing this just after hearing Beck on Fox News Sunday state that he was saved by Jesus Christ but that he has then, to work to do good.
Absent the specific quote, I am slightly reluctant to comment. however, I would state it is in the context of his work to progress to godhood. However, to openly say so in that forum would not be advantageous to mormonism.
Well said, Thumper!!
Have pity on him...can you imagine living with those kinds of demons in your body and believing they are you? Yikes!
Oops, I goofed on the first paragraph. There was a reference to a book called: “Tale Of Two Cities”. That was by Charles Dickens, not Victor Hugo. In my post, I was talking about a book written by a R.Catholic priest w/the same or similar title.
I was saying that the priest’s book (about the differences between two churches, based in two cities) was not the same one written about the French Revolution by another author many years before. This is to correct that!
You’ll have to go to The Source yourself, rocky topper.

Depends on who you ask.
The FR MORMONs seem to parrot this line; and totally IGNORE any MORMON writings that SHOW all the things they NEED to DO to gain EXALTATION and many other perks in the MORMON religion.
Their definition of 'saved' also is NOT what Chrsitians believe it to be.
There are 3 levels of MORMON 'heaven' and, depending on their earthly WORKS, will determine where they will spend their time eternity.
It puzzles me that more people don't study about the Nicene Council and how and why the choosing - by man - of which books would make it into the BIBLE and which - among many that were used by Christ's followers for 300 years - would be burned.
Do you really want to ride that train ?
Joe Smith, the uneducated carnival huckster, who never knew the original languages, never had access to the manuscripts, and borrowed heavily from the KJV (based on the questionable TR and Byzantine texts) rewriting inconvenient passages to suite his heresy. You are going to hold that up against the many manuscripts predating Nicaea, and the theological fire-power attending what was probably the first ecumenical meeting of the Church. All you have is Joe Smith's unsubstantiated and debunked claims, and you want to compare that to God's promise to always keep a remnant?
What kind of drugs are you doing ?
Your intentional efforts to marginalized and mock the Book of Mormon in which you think you are demeaning JS, but these are the scriptures and records of the sevants of the Lord and should the Lord not forgive you I will understand!
