A Gainesville church plans to go ahead with the burning of the Muslim holy book on Sept. 11, despite threats of bombings and the lack of a permit.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Terry Jones, pastor at the Dove World Outreach Center will call for Sept. 11 to be an "International Burn a Koran Day."
One jihadist website vowed to conduct suicide bombings in Florida to avenge the Koran burning, while others predicted an increase in terrorist recruits as a result of such actions.
"By Allah, the wars are heated and you Americans are the ones who...enflamed it," says one such posting. "By Allah you will be the first to taste its flames."
Jones said the radical threats confirmed his views of Muslims. "I can understand that they would be offended. I think their reactions--violence, threats, murders terrorist attacks--that only reveals the true nature of Islam which needs to be revealed," he said.

Here are some examples of Islamic tolerance on 08/23/2010:
2010.08.23 (Pattani, Thailand) - Two civilians are machine-gunned to death by Muslim insurgents in separate attacks.
2010.08.23 (South Waziristan, Pakistan) - A suicide bomber at a mosque sends two-dozen other souls to Allah.
2010.08.23 (Kurram, Pakistan) - Islamist bombers take out seven tribal elders and a teacher at a school.
I do not understand when explaining our wariness of Islam, why we begin and end with 9/11. There were many attacks and murders before the event by muslims. There have been hundreds since 9/11 and numerous attempted terrorists attacks on American soil since. In fact, luck and the Grace of God have saved American lives on several occasions. Just who are they kidding?
For instance, an appropriately positioned Koran underneath fido...
SOmebody dropped that mess and didn’t even flush! Sick!
They need a few vans parked on 4 corners of the event, and a few guys inside with pump 12 ga. Shot guns. When the rag heads show appearing to have bomb vests, lay it down on them.
Ask questions later.
I don’t burn books......any book, ever. The nimrod that thought of this needs to go live with his brethren in pakistan.
Well, Jesus did run off all the money changers out of the Temple...And if I recall correctly, and I stand ot be corrected, and if God has his finger ready to hit the “ZOT” button on his computer...
I don’t think Jesus was very nice about running them off...
So if some people feel beter about burning korans and making a media circus out of it...More power to them...
Heh... don’t hold your breath.
“Ok, Ill be one of the folks you distain. I dont believe Christian Churches should be involved in book burning of any kind, as it puts them in a position to be compared to the other folks whove burned books throughout history...like Nazis and Muslims...and also reflects too much on some of the things we Christians arent to proud of in Christian history.”
I concur with this.
Moreover, it makes the jobs of those Christian missionaries who witness to Muslims more difficult. They are already a difficult culture to witness to. Why should we willingly make it more difficult for them to do their work?
I wonder how big of a flame I can get if I take a Koran thats been totally soaked in lets say...dog urine, been frozen with dry ice, and then from a SAFE distance dropped into a pot of rancid burning bacon grease, at least a years worth.
Maybe Mythbusters would be interested?

“Protests, Rhetoric Feed Jihadists’ Fire”
By JONATHAN WEISMAN
SNIPPET: “One jihadist site vowed to conduct suicide bombings in Florida to avenge a threatened Koran burning, while others predicted an increase in terrorist recruits as a result of such actions.”
SNIPPET: “Threats have been posted on Jihadist web sites in response to such planned actions as Mr. Jones’s Koran burning. “Now, I wish to bomb myself in this church as revenge for the sake of Allah’s talk. And here I register my name here that I want to be an intended-martyr,” wrote a poster identifying himself as “Abu Dujanah.””
Trivia comments:
Abu Dujanah is dead.
The real Abu Dujanah is dead and roasting in Hell.

SNIPPET: “Some comments
I have to assume that al-Balawi was thoroughly debriefed by al-Qaida before being sent on this mission, and I’m surprised no one has sought to correlate his “infiltration” of al-Qaida with Abu Yahya al-Libi’s book released over the summer: “Guidance on the Ruling of the Muslim Spy”

All I can think of is BURN BABY BURN!
remember also that Our Lord Jesus was a carpenter...not exactly a 'weak' mans profession in that day...seeing the wrath in His eyes, and feeling the handmade whip made a building full of men scatter...
sometimes we must be prepared to fight...
Oh, my God, please forgive the horrible spelling and grammar in the post to which you replied! My students are getting to me with their to/too/two issues!!! And “distain?” What was I thinking! LOL “disdain!!!”
"Quick to Judge, Quick to Anger, Slow to Understand - Ignorance and Prejudice and Fear Walk Hand In Hand"
Well that is them...That’s their play...
All I needed to learn about islam, I learned over a few years playing in the sun over in their neck of the dunes, back in the 80’s...
And on 9-11-2001...
Their book and the words in it mean absolutely nothing to me...Ignoring their protests about what others do to their book is an acceptable and comfortable course I take...
If islam is so damn interested in “outreach” then they would be good to back off their plans in NYC, and be mindful of the sensitivities of people in this country, and tread lightly in their “peaceful” pursuits...
But I do not trust any of them...I do not believe I should go out of my way to understand them...I am not ignorant, nor am I paranoid in their presense...
I can think of better ways to draw them out to prove my point than burn their book...If others want to do that, again, more power to them...They will reap their 15 minutes of fame...I desire no such attention...
The difference being Jesus did not command us to fight. He commanded us to make disciples; a task that cannot be done without witnessing. The gospel is enough of a stumbling block; we do not need to add any others.
Jesus also said that if they will not listen to you, leave their city or home and shake the dust off your feet.
Paul said, “as much as it is possible,” to live at peace with one another.
It seems that we are fast approaching a time when it is no longer possible to live at peace with them.
