A Gainesville church plans to go ahead with the burning of the Muslim holy book on Sept. 11, despite threats of bombings and the lack of a permit.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Terry Jones, pastor at the Dove World Outreach Center will call for Sept. 11 to be an "International Burn a Koran Day."
One jihadist website vowed to conduct suicide bombings in Florida to avenge the Koran burning, while others predicted an increase in terrorist recruits as a result of such actions.
"By Allah, the wars are heated and you Americans are the ones who...enflamed it," says one such posting. "By Allah you will be the first to taste its flames."
Jones said the radical threats confirmed his views of Muslims. "I can understand that they would be offended. I think their reactions--violence, threats, murders terrorist attacks--that only reveals the true nature of Islam which needs to be revealed," he said.

This will be extremely interesting to follow. Frankly, I say let's get this fuse lit! Let's stop with the pandering, capitulating, and get this thing started.
On a side note, I live in the middle of flyover country in a podunk town with a population of 6500. 1 month ago our city council approved a 'purchase' by Muslims of land and an abandoned building for "a cultural center". The mosques and cultural centers popping up all over the country is not a conincidence. Yes there have been mosques here all along but notice in the past 4 months, more are being planned simultaneously. This religion/ideology is like a plague of cockroaches infesting the entire nation.
Those people in Gainsville better be exercising their 2nd amendment rights particularly on September 11. We are here in my area.

You are so cold. :)
Or don't need to fight back. My faith is far above what some C-E artist can do to a statue. He shows who he is by his art. I have better things to do. Now, if a C-E artist or Mulsim threatens me or my family, that is a BIG different story.
Jones said the radical threats confirmed his views of Muslims. “I can understand that they would be offended. I think their reactions—violence, threats, murders terrorist attacks—that only reveals the true nature of Islam which needs to be revealed,” he said.
Jones is absolutely correct...but you will still have some on here who will defend the Islamic Terrorists...saying “the church shouldnt burn the Ou’ran”
Jones and Dove Outreach have made their point.
Agreed, but since I seriously doubt that either belong to Jesus Christ, I wouldn't say that they have attacked a target who won't hold them to eventual justice. Would you want to be in their shoes when they stand before HIM?
Even though I don’t, won’t, and cannot agree with Islam, I don’t think that I’d be involved in a koran burning.
However, *”I can understand that they would be offended. I think their reactions—violence, threats, murders terrorist attacks—that only reveals the true nature of Islam which needs to be revealed,” he said.* pretty much shows the hideously ugly side of the terrorists that he is protesting.
I’m sure it probably makes him want to burn more.
Whenever I’m threatened, it tends to make me rethink rethinking.
Seems that nobody has or never had any problem to burn the American Flag? and what about thase crosses for our fallen heroes that we now have to REMOVE???Ot this little orthodox church that Ny government DOES NOT ALLOW TO rebuild but same people are fighting like crazy to build the mosque on sacred ground???Damn...this is going TOO FAR now!!! ARE WE GOING TO WAKE UP AND FIGHT OR IS AMERICAN PEOPLE BECAME VEGETABLES and COWARDS MORONS???
I’m certain that the “O” is going to go on national TV to state that the church “has the right to burn these books, that the U.S. Constitution gives them the right” and that “people need to understand and reach out to those who feel outraged” so that they will come to understand and not fear such book burning. (sarcasm - off.)
Ah, don’t burn em, put em in the bathrooms for TP.
Ok, I’ll be one of the folks you distain. I don’t believe Christian Churches should be involved in book burning of any kind, as it puts them in a position to be compared to the other folks who’ve burned books throughout history...like Nazis and Muslims...and also reflects too much on some of the things we Christians aren’t to proud of in Christian history.
So do they have the right to burn the Koran? Yes
Does it legitimately make them look bad? Also yes
So I would prefer that Christian churches don’t burn books. Flame away.
Islam: Demanding tolerance and giving none in return...... =.=
Some years ago, small police departments in rural America discovered that there was a low cost way for them to make arrests of serious felony offenders. Just by putting an officer in a chat room on the Internet, they could lure pedophiles to drive hundreds of miles, just to get arrested.
I say this, because with some more effort, I think that these small town police departments could really go for the gold if they could lure and arrest dangerous terrorists.
Say they set up an empty cabin in the backwoods. One that was very difficult to get to by accident, and with several No Trespassing signs en route. One that just by going there was a crime, and going there while armed was a crime, etc.
And then they advertise on the Internet that a bunch of people that Muslims hate are going to be there, doing things that Muslims hate. Unarmed and helpless. Salman Rushdie, Hirsh Ali, the Israeli Ambassador, etc.
Well, imagine the surprise when a car full of heavily armed Muslims drives up, packed with explosives, breaking all sorts of laws, to kill everyone in an empty and inexpensive cabin. While all around them are heavily armed police in fortified positions.
And these terrorists are given the opportunity to drop their arms and surrender. Or not. Their choice.
And the headline reads: “Small town police arrest/kill/stop heavily armed terrorists with car bomb. Awarded ‘Police Department of the Year Award’.”
I do not believe in burning books but am more than willing to make an exception for this one. May have to smear bacon grease on it and let the dogs play with it for a while before burning it. Shall treat it with the same respect they hold for our Bible.
I used to live in Gainesville, and they had a large “Islamic Dawa [Conversion] Center” on the outskirts of town. I rarely saw anybody there; most of the foreign Muslim students were probably not particularly into the Islamic thing and in fact were most likely happy to get away from it.
One of the problems, however, is that other than a few small churches such as this Dove Ministries group, most Christians there were weak and namby-pamby, including the Catholics, whose university parish was headed by a self-important jerk I referred to as the “Heresiarch of Gainesville” who read Sufi poetry in his so-called homilies. And the entire city government and police force were very leftwing, and probably would support the Muslims over anybody else.
I'm laughing so hard I can barely type. Wait a minute, I see a flock of pigs flying overhead.
When Muslims are treated no worse than Disco, they’ve got it pretty good.
