I love Ray Bradbury. His writing is deceptively simple, his imagery sticks in the mind for years, and he says what he means.
I’m a huge fan.
There is too much government today. We’ve got to remember the government should be by the people, of the people and for the people.
Nice!
The comments under the article are typical lib idiocy. Martian Chronicles isn’t science fiction, it’s total fantasy. The idea that we shouldn’t go into space because it’s not “green” enough is laughable. The idea that going into space would mean more “big government” ignores the existence of NASA already.
Flippin’ morons.

It is funny that while Liberals dream of some Utopian society that can only exist in the realm of fiction, so many SciFi authors lean right. It probably comes from the need to study history then extrapolate where it may lead to give them that perspective.

He should be announcing that we should go back to the moon, The irony is that the Apollo program was a poster child for the big, government-funded, top-down bureaucratic approach to public works.

Huh ... my nickname for Bubba rhymes with “dastard” or “stock sucker” ... the “stock sucker” of course, is from the Whitewater era .... I would have expected something more colorful from Ray ...

A little help here please. I remember reading a short story years ago and the premise was that the government was controlling people to make everyone the same. Stronger athletes were forced to wear weights so they wouldn’t outperform other athletes. Smarter people were forced to take drugs to limit their abilities. One man goes against the government and refuses to take the drugs and is pursued by the government. This ring a bell to anybody?

We should go to the moon and prepare a base to fire a rocket off to Mars and then go to Mars and colonize Mars. Then when we do that, we will live forever." I'm a big fan of Mr. Bradbury. I just reread Fahrenheit 451. This part, however, reminds me a tad too much of C.S. Lewis' antagonist in his space trilogy. I wonder if that's not coincidental (on the part of Lewis).

Years ago, during the liberal Republican Senator Bob Packwood sexual harassment scandal, Ray Bradbury was on Politically Incorrect (when Maher was on ABC) and defended Packwood by saying that he (Bradbury) sexually harassed his wife until she married him.
